When try to install firefox after clicking run I got file is corrupt. So now what?

This is what happened

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

  • When i try to restart firefox after i have closed it i get a message that firefox is still running Have to restart pc most of the time. Is a big wast of time.So have been using internet explorer most of the time

I must close firefox to run a program called c cleaner to remove unused items the browser saves on the computer . In order to clean up items on firefox i must shut firefox down then have the problem when i try to restart firefox after the the unused items are removed as the pc thinks firefox is still running. Have to reboot to start firefox. Other browsers are normal with no problems

I have sometimes seen Firefox give such a message, and do not know the reason for this. As you mention Internet Explorer I assume you are using a Windows machine.
Try using task manager to stop the firefox program.
Shortcut keys [Ctrl][alt][del] in XP, all pressed together will get task manager.
Another method is in Start -> Run keying in the command "Taskmgr" and hit Return
Once TaskManager is showing click the process tab and look for "firefox.exe", right click on it and use "end process" that should stop Firefox without you needing to restart the computer.
I am not sure why you need to use'' "c cleaner to remove unused items the browser saves on the computer "''
Tools -> clear recent history, may help

All you need to do is wait. While Firefox appears closed, it's not. It doing house cleaning. Cleaning out cookies and cache. How long it takes depends upon how much garbage you have collected.
If you start the Task Manager and open the Process window, you will be able to see when Firefox has finished up and closed down.
If you forced Firefox to close using the task manager, then the house keeping process seems to freeze up.
Also, as you've already found out from the above link, some programs and plugins will prevent Firefox from closing properly. I've found this less common then simply being in a hurry. But you need to also consider it.

  • After clicking run to download firefox and its done loading the box just goes away and nothing else comes up

i need help downloading firefox. after clicking download and run from the box that appears the box just dissapears and nothing else comes up

SAVE the installer to your hard drive (do not use the "Run" option); save it to your Desktop so that you can find it. When the download is complete, close whatever browser you have open, click or double-click the file you downloaded and see if it installs without a problem.
The downloader is a self-extracting archive and should not need or use 7-zip. I have 7-zip installed on my system and it does not interfere with nor is it used in the Firefox install process. Hopefully, you have not set the downloading of .exe files to be associated with 7-zip.

When you click the download link on [http://getfirefox.com GetFirefox.com], you should be asked if you wish to Run or Save the file. If the described situation happens when trying to Run the download, try instead to Save it and put the file on your Desktop or a similar place where you are certain that you can find it again.
When the download is complete, try double-clicking the downloaded file in the normal Windows Explorer (browse your way to the file from My Computer). This should start the installation.
If you notice in the Explorer window that the file seems to be lacking the Firefox orange/blue icon, rightclick the file and select Properties. The picture should look somewhat like the attached picture (except that mine's in danish, but that is irrelevant) if saved correctly - if it does NOT look like this, please describe the contents or attach a screenshot of the box. Especially what it says under "File type" - it should be "Program"; if it's not, we'll have to look into what the problem could be here.
Slightly off-topic, your Internet Explorer seems to be quite a bit out of date (IE 6, where current version is IE 8), so I would strongly recommend that you try to run Windows Update to get your system updated. If this is a company system (like a Terminal Server thin client machine), this may not be possible, and your system administrator will most likely have to help you.

  • When I try to install Firefox, windows asks me if I want to allow this program to make changes to my computer and then nothing happens whether I say yes or no?

Question is asked by "user account control"

Even if you are logged on with an Administrator account then you should still not run Firefox with Administrator permissions.<br />
I would assume that is already installed, but if this is happening when you try to install Firefox then you need to right-click the Firefox installer and choose Run as Administrator to make sure to get the proper permissions to install the Firefox program and create the required registry keys.<br />
Then you need to confirm that you want to install the program.<br />
If Windows blocks the file because it is downloaded from internet then open the Properties via the right-click context menu and check the Security tab.

can any one tell me how to install flash player on powerbookg4.i actully uninstall it to upgrade it but now i can not install new one.it always says get flash player for powerpc when i try to install it after downloading.it is 10.5.8 version

Flash Player version 10.1.102.64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users. However, this Flash version won't work for many videos on Facebook, YouTube and other sites. Adobe's latest version, 10.2.x or later, is only for Intel Macs. Adobe will not provide a newer Flash version for PPC Macs.
The message requesting that you download Adobe Flash Player takes you to Flash Player requiring an Intel processor. Doesn't work on a PowerPC processor. I found a hack, installed it & it works with Firefox, TenFourFox & Safari.
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • When trying to install Firefox 3.6.11, after extraction, I get the message "The directory name is invalid", and the installation won't continue (Windows Vista Home Basic 6.0).

    That's about it.

I downloaded a program from Roboform called rfwipeout.exe. I backed up my passwords, identities, etc and completely removed all traces of roboform. This did not help. When I re-installed the roboform new release it got the same message that it thinks I am using version 3.6 of Firefox instead of 11.0. There must be some setting in the Firefox folders that never gets changed when you update to a new version.
Soon after that I ran a backup of Firefox profiles identities, etc using MOZ BACKUP. I had never noticed this until then but the message asks if I want to backup Mozilla Firefox 3.6. Since 2 completely different programs refer to my installation as 3.6 there must be something wrong in one of the Firefox files.

I keep getting the following message when I try to install firefox.."your computer must be restarted to complete a previous install of firefox" I've restarted numerous times..keep getting the same message

Have a look at the solution to a similar problem: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/921375?s=%22Your+computer+must+be+restarted+to+complete+a+previous+upgrade+of+Firefox.+Do+you+want+to+reboot+now%3F%22&r=0&e=sph&as=s
If that doesn't work, you can uninstall FF and do a clean install. You'll prob lose your bookmarks, history, etc, though, so if you do this set up Sync first! https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/what-firefox-sync-and-how-do-i-use-it

Please try this: Copy the files formhistory.sqlite (or formhistory) and places.sqlite (or places) if they exist and delete the entire Mozilla folder in %APPDATA% and also the Firefox folder in Program Files. • Error message when trying to install Firefox

I always use Firefox as my browser but was having some issues with it being slow. When I checked the "about firefox" area, it said it was up to date, but when I checked the plugins page, it said it was out of date. No matter what I did, it wouldn't install.
I finally uninstalled Firefox to try from scratch, and I continue to get this error every time I try to install.
I have run a full scan on my computer for malware/viruses, and it's coming up empty after removing two items. Does anyone have any suggestions??

Do you mean you checked this page: https://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/
And Firefox said one or more of your plugins was out of date, or that Firefox itself was out of date?
If it said Firefox itself, could you check how Firefox is reporting its version number on my test page:
    https://jeffersonscher.com/res/jstest.php
It appears you have Windows 8.1, so the text in red should be:
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:37.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/37.0
Or if it says 36.0 (and internally Firefox says 36.0.4) that is normal because automatic updates to new versions are limited during the first few days while Mozilla watches for problem reports.

The service that you are trying to use requires integration of adobe with in browser(IE). Check the option [Display PDF in browser |http://lh4.ggpht.com/_E1SpYl0ZbfE/SlI0rfQAxeI/AAAAAAAAAh4/fC9alkf1M78/Adobe_Setting.gif]in Adobe Reader preferences.
If it still doesn't show the PDF, try to reset the browser setting to Medium and re-open.

  • I get redirected when trying to install firefox

Feb 28th - turned the pc off in the evening, had experienced no problems, had visited a site on using climbing cams that mcafree advisor said wasnt safe so i came off this.
March 1st - on rebooting my computer i couldnt load up firefox due to script error, and also couldnt open IE either. Uninstalled both. Google chrome now works. However when i try to install firefox, a small browser window flashes up in the top left corner of my screen, then when the save/run file dialog box opens, the download source changes each time and so does the size of the file.I have deleted everything such as temp files, history, cookies etc, completely uninstalled and rebooted, but still having this problem.

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xuab2q88.default is the location of the cache folder for your default profile. If the updates folder isn't there then it looks that Firefox hasn't downloaded an update.
You can download the full version from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
Delete the Firefox program folder: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
That will remove all Firefox program files in case some are locked or protected by security software.<br />
That should allow you to install a full version of Firefox 3.6.10
Your Firefox profile data is stored elsewhere and won't be affected.
