this reccommendation is to OS 10.5.8 only
Go to the hard drive find the following folders and look for the following file, com.apple.finder.Plist, delete it and restart the computer. Its found under the following folder Users-account name-library-prefrences. This helped resolve my issue for now.

  • I am getting error code 0x8002006E when trying to burn a DVD

Hi, I am running the latest Lion update, on my MB Pro, and keep getting the error code 0x8002006E when trying to burn a DVD. Could this be a dirty lens issue in the drive. I see that many others have had the same problem, but relly cant seem to find anyone that has a solution that works.. Help

It's an error thrown by Mac OS X's DiscRecording framework (as opposed to an error communicated by the drive's firmware). The message is (as you probably saw)
"The burn failed because of a medium write error."
Could this be a dirty lens issue in the drive.
I don't think there's one single cause for this error. It might be a dirty lens. It might be something else. Not all recordable optical discs work well with all burners. Try a different brand.

  • Error Message When Trying To Burn A DVD

I just got a new MacBook Pro running 10.6.3 and when i try to burn a DVD using Toast 7. And I get this error message and the disk will not burn. Does anyone else get this message and how can I fix this.... Thanks
    The drive reported an error:
    Sense Key = Medium ERROR
    Sense Code = 0x02
    No SEEK COMPLETE

I know it sounds crazy on a new machine, but the slightest bit of dust or dirt can cause problems with the DVD - try running a lens cleaner disc through it and see if that helps ...

  • Can't burn dvd says sense key=medium error

I cant burn dvds. Ive tried several times with diffrent kinds of discs.  I have never had a problem before but all of a sudden it says SENSE KEY=MEDIUM ERROR.

Just curious...did you ever find a solution for this problem? I am having the EXACT same issue - it just started one day when I was backing data files up, and now I have not been able to burn a single DVD. CD-R's are okay, but no luck with DVD-R's. I have also tried different brands. I think there is some incompatibility problem with the the Mac OS or Roxio's software that is botching communication...

  • EMac optical drive: Reads but ceased writing.  I get "Sense key=MEDIUM ERROR, Sense Code=0x0C, WRITE ERROR.  Drive is Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-127D.

eMac optical drive: reads fine but has ceased writing.  One day it's working fine, burning DVDs, then after repeated attempts stops copying and gives the following error message:  "Sense key=MEDIUM ERROR, Sense Code=0x0C, WRITE ERROR".  Drive is Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-127D.  Is this a software issue or is the drive half dead?  Get the same result with either Popcorn or Toast 10.

Are you using Roxio Toast? That error seems to be discussed a lot in the Roxio forums. Scroll down this thread:

Try another blank DVD or another brand of DVD.

  • 2008 Mac Pro burner failure - report "Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR - Sense Code = 0x73, 0x03"

Problem just arose - burners working days ago - NO major changes in Mac Pro --- Attempting to burn some DVDs (data only), using the latest version of Toast v12.0 & Dragon Burn, as soon as I tell either my internal or external unit to burn, it runs a few minutes then pops up dialog box - "Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR - Sense Code = 0x73, 0x03". Blanks are new Memorex. I've restarted Mac Pro multiple times, still no burning possible. In dire need to restore capability. Most gracious thanks for ANY immediate assistance.

There are several different incompatible media sold as writeable CDs. You MUST match the media to the abilities of your drive.
I was flummoxed by buying 8x media when my drive was a 2x drive. I needed the other type, and there was nothing helpful in the diagnostics or the packaging that helped me understand that.
EDIT: There is an interesting helpful feature buried in System Profiler ... (read the last two lines of the report):

  • Crashes when trying to burn a DVD

I have been trying to burn a DVD using both Toast and Wonderhare and it seems no matter what program I use it will crash the program when I try to burn it. I have tried applejack to see if there are any problems that need to be fixed but none were found. What should I do?
    Thanks!

Could you specify the specifications of the computer's internal hard disk
drive, in both full capacity and the amount remaining as unused? These
numbers, actually three (capacity, amount used, remaining free) may be
the cause of the problem; if the drive is getting too full and should these
burn folder files be a tripping point, the system could be compromised.
{That is just one possibility; since systematic routine maintenance is a
process I've done, and pre-suppose others do it, too. The basis of a
healthy computer is the awareness of certain factors and preventative
maintenance to keep the system as healthy as it can be. Then if some
    thing acts up, there is less to wonder about at that point in time.}
The simple stuff, such as 'repair disk permissions' in Disk Utility, after
booting up in SafeBoot mode (hold Shift key until login window appears)
can help; then after Disk Utility is done, quit it & restart the computer.
Logs and reports are often stored and readable in Console utility, also
in System Profiler> Software> Logs (see Blue apple, about this Mac,
button More Info> System Profiler.) Console has many different ones.
You could see what those HDD numbers are, and also look into Activity
Monitor, when the computer is running and before a crash, to see
where the computer's resources are being used and how.
If the computer does not have sufficient chip RAM installed, and is also
running with a nearly too-full hard disk drive, the computer could crash
when several apps and large-size files are being manipulated.
The computer could be started from the Tiger install disc and disk utility
run from the drop-down menu bar in the Installer window; start from the
Tiger DVD by holding C key down, the second screen (past languages)
is the Installer and submenu choices. Disk Utility can try to repair disk
and also repair disk permissions; and verify disk SMART status. When
done, choose Macintosh HD from the Startup chooser menu in Installer
menu, and restart. This may help; but there obviously is something amiss.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • I keep getting a 4000 error when trying to burn discs....only been since the update....Help

Ever since the Itunes update, I keep getting an 4000 error when trying to burn my music to disc.  How do I fix this?

    Zachy,
    It goes something like this...
Put your new drive in the enclosure. Use Disk Utility to format it, etc. I'd give it a slightly different name than the original. Let's say you have Old Disk and New Disk as your drive names. Use Carbon Copy Cloner to copy Old Disk to New Disk. Now you should have an exact copy, which you can test by rebooting and holding down the Option key. Choose New Disk from the list and let it boot, make sure all is well.
Shut down and physically swap the drives. Take Old Disk and put it in the enclosure. Now your system has a new disk with a lot more space and you can reformat your old disk and just use it for large files or whatever.

  • Getting Error Message When Trying To Burn To DVD HELP!!!!!

This is the error message I am getting as soon as I click on the "burn" button.
The following warnings and errors were found during the validation of the current project:
    - There seems to be too much motion menu content in your project. Correct this problem before you continue burning this project.
Any ideas? Please help ASAP, this project is for my grandpa's birthday and I'm trying to finish quickly!
    ~K

It's a good idea to check the Project Info (under the Project menu in iDVD) before burning a disc. If any of the Duration bars are in the red, then you need to go back and edit your project. Also check the Encoding type with your total Project Duration: if the project total is under 60 minutes choose "Best Performance;" if it is between 60 and 120 minutes you'll need to select "Best Quality."
Unless you have freed a lot of GB on your hard drive, iDVD will not be able to burn the disc. You'll need at least 15 -25 GB free on your boot drive in order for the app to do all that encoding. It takes a lot of brainwork to turn a 13+ GB movie project into a 4GB DVD file.
When your project is ready to burn, choose File > Save as Disc Image. This tells iDVD to do all the encoding, and will result in a disc image file that you can mount in your DVD Player app to see that all is well. If so, you can quickly burn the disc image with Disc Utility or an app like Toast. If not, then you haven't burned any coasters. Another advantage is that you will be able to burn duplicates of the disc image very quickly, without going through all that encoding again, should other relatives request a copy.
    Regards.

  • TS4522 What is the problem when I get error code 0 when trying to burn a DVD.  It stops around 60-some %.

I have tried twice to burn a DVD, and both times I get error code 0 at about 60-some % of the transcoding.  I haven't had any trouble burning DVDs before now.

I had a friend with similar problem, not sure of cause. Happened when sharing to Apple device as well.
Apple said to delete all files in Render folder. We did not try that as-
Problem changed slightly for us, in that Share to 'Apple device 720' got to 50% and pretended to have completed its operation, but no file found in Project Share folder.
We found then, if the timeline clips where highlighted it would share, where previously it had repeatedly failed.
    Hope that helps
