When trying to download the IOS 7.1.1 update I continue to get a message that the update failed? Please advise!
When trying to download the ISO 7.1.1 update, my iPad goes through the downloading process and then goes to the preparing mode and after a while returns a message that the "Software Update Failed, an error occurred downloading IOS 7.1.1 ." Any suggestions?
Make sure anti-virus and other security software is disabled.

These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. Use the steps to troubleshoot security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See the steps under the heading "Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store." If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.

OP, be sure that you have downloaded the trial for the perpetual version and not for the rental (cloud) version. -
Tried to install both Firefox 5.0 and 5.0.1, and received the same error message that a file ending in .dylib was in use. I cannot locate that file, and Finder does not recognize it.
I have a Power PC Mac with OS 10.5.8 and Firefox 3.6.28, the latest versions supported on my machine, and all of my plug-ins are the latest versions available for that browser version. I too get the warning message all the time and it is very annoying. I have never had any "security" problems, and I don't go along with this imperative to always be upgrading equipment. Don't these corporate geeks understand that we're in a global economic contraction and a lot of us are unemployed/underemployed? They want us to be good consumers and "switch to a newer computer" but I can't afford that. Like, if I can't fix my old car, I won't be able to drive. Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

The above artical started to help.. but eventually I did the following:
1) put device into DFU mode

2) when connecting ipad to itunes, itunes was aware of DFU mode. Just selected the update and itunes downloaded the correct new OS (iOS 7.0.2) and did it's thing.
Note: there was no need to download an older version of iOS. In fact, I was always rejected when attempting a downloaded ipsw. iTunes always said, "This device isn't eligible for the requested build".
Device Info: iPad 3 wifi. Software was iOS beta 7 (7 release 5 I think). -

If you are trying to access a document from someone else's site and you are getting an access denied message, it is probably because you are not supposed to be able to acquire the file without getting more access permissions than you have at the moment.

I have been working on the same numbers file for the past few weeks. The last time I opened it was 1 week ago. Today when I tried to open it I am unable and getting a message that the file is invalid and the index.xml file is missing.

I upgraded to Maverick OS X 10.9.5, numbers spreadsheet is saved. Upon re-opening, it appears to be frozen, a warning "file is invalid as index.xml file is missing". I checked, and the file is not "locked". This appears to occur only with using the new numbers app. When I open previous spreadsheets from old iWorks, no such problem occurs.
How did you resolve your problem?
Would appreciate any help here.

It sounds like you need to log in as the administrator to update the iTunes application properly.

I have purchased a digital download of elements 13. I have downloaded it onto my lap top . When I try to download it onto my desk top I am getting a message that the activation code is invalid.
I just figured out a solution. I connected my ipod to my computer, went to the 'info' tab on the menu for my ipod. I checked 'Sync Mail Accounts', which were greyed out until I selected them. That connected me to the Cloud and everything went back to normal. Hope this helps someone else!

When there is a mismatch between the iTunes Store's records and your credit card company's records, you will receive an error message

Which particular .msi file does the message go on to say can't be found? (Several different .msi files can be mentioned in this context: itunes.msi, bonjour.msi, AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi, etc.)

When I plug my iPhone into my computer to sync my iTunes I get a message that says "iTunes cannot read the content of the iPhone" and wants me to restore my phone back to factory settings. Any suggestions so that I don't have to restore? I have all of my stuff backed up on iCloud but I really don't want to go through the hassle of wiping it clean and putting everything back on.

"OK - this is how it works:
In order to backup from iCloud you cannot use iTunes!
Therefore disconnect your device from your computer.
Turn on your device and go to Settings and then go to General.
At the bottom of this submenu there is a buttom "Reset"
If you push that buttom you see 6 different Erase settings to chose from!
Chose "Erase All Content and Settings" because this will wipe everything from your device and will let you restore from iCloud! (I tried the top "Reset All Settings" but that did not let me use iClouds afterwards!)
Once you pushed that buttom your device will be wiped clean and after some time you will see the Device Welcome Screen like on a new device!
After choosing your location you will be asked to setup your WiFi-conection. After you joint to your Wifi you will be given the choice to restore the iPad from a backup from the iCloud. Choosing this backup will prompt you with your apple ID and password.
Restoring from a backup can take some time. The process uses your Wi-Fi connection to download settings, content and data. If you had a lot of content on your device, this can take a while. The restore screen should give you estimates at each stage of the restore process, starting with restoring the settings and then booting into the iPad. When the iPad home screen appears, the device will continue the restore process by downloading all of your applications.
If you are restoring from a backup because you have run into problems with your device that can only be solved by restoring it, you can first choose your latest backup. If you still have problems, you can move on to the next latest backup, repeating the process until (hopefully) the problem is cleared."

When I try to export from iMovie '11 I get repeated messages that the project is too big. Why? Is there a workaround? (I have already cut a 40-minute movie into three chunks... the first exported to iDVD ok, but the next one of 15 minutes balked for the same reason -- too long...)

Sadly, this is Windows machine so I dont have a non-iOS version of iMovie. I have 2 ideas left. The first is xfering the project to my iPhone 4 and trying to export it there (if that works, awesome but geez apple the iPad 2 is way more powerful than the iphone 4.. youd think I wouldnt even have to attempt this). The 2nd idea is to start at the end of my movie and delete clips and sounds backwards, trying to export each time to find whatever clip is causing the issue (when the movie was 5 minutes it mixed no probem, so I only need to go that far).

Well, it sounds as if you are trying to violate copyright protections - trying to use music that you purchased for individual use in a way that is not permitted.
The fact that you were able to do this before would not change the fact that it is not allowed. -
I am extremely upset. I purchased my iPad in SA and now I am in Greece. I cannot download free apps as I get a message that the apps are not available in the SA store and only in US stores. When I change to the US store the same thing happens. What is the point of having an iPad if I cannot use it worldwide??? I feel that I wasted my money purchasing it as I specifically purchased it to use when I travel. How can I get access to all the available apps and why are they restricted.
