When trying to export a pages document, it says 'error while printing' when I want to save as PDF. I used to be able to do it but for some random reason it won't let me anymore. Even when the printer is not plugged in or turned on it says it. Is there a setting I can change? Does anyone know how to fix as i can't email any documents and I don't know what else to do. Please help its driving me crazy.....

thank you, I can't print or save any old pages documents. I will create a new one and see if that helps. I have tried from the print dialog but it says the same thing. I will try something in another application. Could it have been when I updated pages? I only recently got broadband so did a heap of updates that were a bit overdue.

Can anyone help with my problem. I have one document that just can't seem to be exported to Word. It doesn't have any special formatting. A footer with page numbers is the only special thing. Anyone have any ideas? I've tested other docs, and they seem to export fine, just this one document. It probably have something that is corrupt. Sometimes one has to try to export to another format (if it can be done) like .rtf and the open in Pages again. Or copy and paste to a textEdit document, save it and open it in Pages. Last resort is to recreate the document.

You can re-download it from the App Store: Open the App Store and make sure you are signed on with the Apple ID you used to purchase Pages originally. Click on the Purchases tab at the top of the screen. You should see Pages listed. If it says "Download" next to it, then you can re-download it. If it says "Installed" it means that it is somewhere on the Mac, so go to the Finder and do a Search from there.

When trying to export the project, I get an error message with the following message: The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occured (-108).

Do you have the same problem with printing from other apps, such as TextEdit? Have you looked at your printer's control panel to see if an error condition is displayed there, and if so, what is it?

This is an old thread, so you have probably given up, but the problem is relatively easily solved. The issue is apparently bad or corrup, or missing fonts.
You can try to chase that down, but it is faster to simply try deleting half the document and exporting again. If that works, restore the deltion and delete half of that section. Keep doing this systematically until you have located the part of the document causing the problem. Often it is something pasted in from another document.
You can then export most of the document and then copy and paste the remaining bits over into Word.
This works with Keynote, too, where often the issue is just one slide.

Pages crashes when trying to open a pages document.

Hi there, I'm new to the forum.
I have been working on a business plan since June and amended it as recently as yesterday. I saved it regularly and I closed the application normally.
However, on trying to open the document today Pages I get the progress window that tells me the file is opening. It gets halfway and I get the window with "The application Pages quit unexpectedly".
I have tried the reset option and everything else I can think of. I can open other pages documents it seems only this one is corrupted.
Is there anything I can do to recover my work. Any help much appreciated.

You got a corrupted file.
This is why I wrote many times: don't rely on Save.
Use Save as so you will be able to check that the newly saved document is OK before removing the old one.
You may also activate the feature allowing Pages to keep the late version when it saves.

Error when trying to export as Word document

Hello all, I'm having the an issue where no matter what kind of text or document i try to export from Pages 08', I get an error saying "An unknown error occurred" I tried deleting all the pages files and reinstalling the whole suite but i still get the same issue. Is anybody else experiencing this?

I started having problems with Safari 3, uninstalled, reverted back to Safari 2 which didn't work either. Performed an archive and install of Tiger and now the Pages '08 document exports to MS Word.
Based on the fact that 2 of our 3 Macs were able to export okay and not very many others posting about problems I don't think it is a problem with Pages '08.
Consider checking your system using Disk Utility to "Verify disk" or if you have other strange happenings with your Mac try the archive and install. It is a pain to download and install the updates but it worked for me.

I am trying to export a Pages document to a pdf, and a tiny black rectangle with a small white circle keeps showing up. I can't seem to delete it in my pages document. help!

I am making a small brochure, and it seems like in some places for reasons unknown, when I have a return, there's a small black-filled rectangle, about the size of one letter, with a small white circle inside of it appearing. I want to get rid of that little symbol. I keep trying to press delete, but then I lose my return/spacing. (Can you tell I'm a brute beginner?) Help! And thanks!

It sounds like you are using a Chinese font.
Use something else eg Times or Helvetica or any European font.
If the character disappears, its the font.

Premiere CC 7.2.2 crashes when trying to export via Media Encoder and Encore crashes while DVD build

I freshly installed Windows 7 and the CC-Apps PremierePro, After Effects, Media Encoder, Photoshop and Speedgrade.
When I try to export any video from premiere to the media encoder premiere crashes without any error message. The problem is not the project: I created several new projects and even if I only have one Graphic-File/Bars/h264-video in the timeline that I try to export: premiere crashes. When I export directly from premiere it works, but there is no chance to go via media encoder. The strange thing is that I can export from after effects to the media encoder without any problem...
Second Problem: Encore crashes also. Everytime I try to build a DVD => Encore crashes
Does anybody have an idea?

Im trying to open a pages document I created on my ipad

When trying to open a pages document I created on my ipad on my mac mini, I get a message that i need a newer version of pages. But when I look on the app store it says I already have the latest version of pages.. What's the deal?

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.01 can not open Pages 5.1 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5.1 files can not be opened in Pages 5.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Try adding .epub to the end of the name.
I assume you are aware that to open an .epub file you need a special app, not TextEdit or Pages, right?
