When trying to export a pages document to Word, I get an "unknown error occured" message. Can anyone help?

Can anyone help with my problem. I have one document that just can't seem to be exported to Word. It doesn't have any special formatting. A footer with page numbers is the only special thing. Anyone have any ideas? I've tested other docs, and they seem to export fine, just this one document. There is nothing special to this document either. i've imported the original from Word, modified it as pages, then tried to export it again. Nothing. i've also copied and pasted the whole doc into a new sheet, and tried to save it again as word, nothing again. I'm running out of things to do on this

It probably have something that is corrupt. Sometimes one has to try to export to another format (if it can be done) like .rtf and the open in Pages again. Or copy and paste to a textEdit document, save it and open it in Pages. Last resort is to recreate the document.

When trying to export a pages document, it says 'error while printing' when I want to save as PDF. I used to be able to do it but for some random reason it won't let me anymore. Even when the printer is not plugged in or turned on it says it. Is there a setting I can change? Does anyone know how to fix as i can't email any documents and I don't know what else to do. thank you, I can't print or save any old pages documents. I will create a new one and see if that helps. I have tried from the print dialog but it says the same thing. I will try something in another application. Could it have been when I updated pages? I only recently got broadband so did a heap of updates that were a bit overdue.

urgh... just noticed my previous post said i have mountain lion... i meant that i have snow leopard. no idea why i messed that up!
anyway, i just tried reinstalling snow leopard from the usb key that came with the computer. Then, I installed software updates until it told me there were no more updates. After that, I tried the app store again, and it still is giving me the unknown error. really irked by that. may have to take it back to the apple store yet again, to see if i can figure out why the app store won't work.

Welcome to the Support Communities! I'm not sure from your post what steps you have tried, but it sounds like you may need to use recovery mode to address the issue with your unresponsive iPod touch.

This is an old thread, so you have probably given up, but the problem is relatively easily solved. The issue is apparently bad or corrup, or missing fonts.
You can try to chase that down, but it is faster to simply try deleting half the document and exporting again. If that works, restore the deltion and delete half of that section. Keep doing this systematically until you have located the part of the document causing the problem. Often it is something pasted in from another document.
You can then export most of the document and then copy and paste the remaining bits over into Word.
This works with Keynote, too, where often the issue is just one slide.

Okay, this is going to require additional information for analysis. QT 7 Pro "Properties" window screen capture might solve the iTunes issue—i.e., a screen capture data like this...
However, the video matter may be more of an issue. With MPEG-4 and H.264 codecs you sometimes need to know the Profile, Level, data rate, etc. to ensure the encoded data meets certain codec standards. For instance, are you referring to a non-AVC MPEG-4 ASP Level 5 encode with a data rate less than 8 Mbps?

Seems like when I E-mail myself the document from pages, I have not been able to type in the document, it acts like it is locked. In the Print dialogue, click the PDF button at lower left, choose Mail PDF
The result should be a new email document with the pdf file attached.
Address and send.
The procedure applies to any document which may be printed, not just Pages documents.

When I try and export from pages to word I get an unknown error. No font issues that I know of.

I used to be able to export documents from pages to word. Things seemed to have changed after Lion. Whenever I go to export to Word, I get "an unknown error has occurred". I tried all the font solutions found on here and everything is validated and I don't think it's a font issue. It's a brand new document with Helvetica as the only font.

Must I understand that you trashed the fonts cache file dedicated to iWork ?
If you didn't (what I assume), trash it for see.

For safe I repeat that under Lion, to reach this Library folder we must press the option key while opening the menu "Go to" to be able to trigger the menu item "Library".

Yes, that is correct. The alternative is to quit all applications prior to logging out. Lion will then have a chance to remove the saved states.

Luckily the problem seems to have vanished. I am not sure what happened but I think the reason was one of the browser extensions, thanks for the advice anyway!
