When trying to install Firefox 4.0.1 it hangs on checking addin compatablility
I have tried upgrading to Firefox 4.0.1 several times and every time in hangs when it gets to the stop "checking add-on compatibility". I ended up reinstalling 3.6.17.
I have removed almost all of the add-ons except java console 6.0.23, java quick starter 1.0, McAfee siteadvisor 3.3.1, Microsoft Net Framework assistant 0.0.0, and Movie Media Player 7. There is a list of plug-in too numerous to mention.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See:
* [[Basic Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile]]
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

I have a Samsung laptop with Windows 7. I tried to install Firefox several times and every time keeps coming this message "File is corrupt", not letting me open it.
Plus, I have the Norton antivirus and I don´t know if this is a problem caused by Windows version or the antivirus program.First repair permissions and restart your computer. Reinstall the latest version of flash player. Again repair permissions and restart your computer.

Exe file won't download when trying to install firefox
I'm trying to install firefox on a windows 7 laptop and the .exe file won't download. Whenever I click the link it says: failed - network error. I've tried rebooting and downloading form other sites and get similar issues. Any ideas on what's causing this?
The full setup. The exe file did work at times yesterday but as I said above it kept saying the download was interrupted after it had been downloading for about 20 minutes. I tried again today and the exe file won't open or download again.

That's about it.
I downloaded a program from Roboform called rfwipeout.exe. I backed up my passwords, identities, etc and completely removed all traces of roboform. This did not help. When I re-installed the roboform new release it got the same message that it thinks I am using version 3.6 of Firefox instead of 11.0. There must be some setting in the Firefox folders that never gets changed when you update to a new version.
Soon after that I ran a backup of Firefox profiles identities, etc using MOZ BACKUP. I had never noticed this until then but the message asks if I want to backup Mozilla Firefox 3.6. Since 2 completely different programs refer to my installation as 3.6 there must be something wrong in one of the Firefox files. -
I get redirected when trying to install firefox
Feb 28th - turned the pc off in the evening, had experienced no problems, had visited a site on using climbing cams that mcafree advisor said wasnt safe so i came off this.
March 1st - on rebooting my computer i couldnt load up firefox due to script error, and also couldnt open IE either. Uninstalled both. Google chrome now works. However when i try to install firefox, a small browser window flashes up in the top left corner of my screen, then when the save/run file dialog box opens, the download source changes each time and so does the size of the file.I have deleted everything such as temp files, history, cookies etc, completely uninstalled and rebooted, but still having this problem.C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xuab2q88.default is the location of the cache folder for your default profile. If the updates folder isn't there then it looks that Firefox hasn't downloaded an update.
You can download the full version from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
Delete the Firefox program folder: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
That will remove all Firefox program files in case some are locked or protected by security software.<br />
That should allow you to install a full version of Firefox 3.6.10

I attempted to do the update on Firefox 3.6.9 and it said that it could not update because Firefox was still running even though it did not appear in the list of processes in the task manager. I decided to reinstall Firefox and the above message now is displayed each time I restart my computer and attempt to install Firefox 3.6.10.

I downloaded Firefox 4.01 directly from Firefox. When running the Firefox Setup I get the following error: 'The handle is invalid'.

I have no restrictions on phone. I tried to be safe and use security features like... Safe search, cookie block and such. However it keeps saying unable to download file type when I try and install any of the up to date browsers. This is interesting to say the least. Because my browser is already using the most up to date version. I have internet explorer using a windows 8 nokia
hello, the mobile version of firefox isn't available on the windows phone platform: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/will-firefox-work-my-mobile-device#w_other-operating-systems|Will Firefox work on my mobile device?]
there have been technical and legal hurdles in the app store originally which discouraged mozilla from starting any developments in this direction. i don't know about the current situation, but since mozilla is now focusing its energies on creating firefox os as open source web-based platform, i doubt that you will see firefox on your windows phone device in the foreseeable future... -
I had to uninstall Firefox for Android because I was having problems logging in to sync. I got a support e-mail to uninstall and reinstall because the sync issue had been fixed. I uninstalled the Firefox app and then when I tried to reinstall it I get the error message on my phone "the requested item could not be found." HELP!
Some supported phones are not displaying Firefox in the Market for some reason. We're still investigating this. You can check if your phone is supported here:
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android
and then download the app directly from here:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/releases/4.0b3/android-r7/multi/
(Note: If your phone is from AT&T, you will have to search for instructions on "sideloading" the APK file, since AT&T disables the option to install from non-Market sources.) -
Error message when trying to install Firefox
I always use Firefox as my browser but was having some issues with it being slow. When I checked the "about firefox" area, it said it was up to date, but when I checked the plugins page, it said it was out of date. No matter what I did, it wouldn't install.
I finally uninstalled Firefox to try from scratch, and I continue to get this error every time I try to install.
I have run a full scan on my computer for malware/viruses, and it's coming up empty after removing two items. Does anyone have any suggestions??Do you mean you checked this page: https://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/
And Firefox said one or more of your plugins was out of date, or that Firefox itself was out of date?
If it said Firefox itself, could you check how Firefox is reporting its version number on my test page:
https://jeffersonscher.com/res/jstest.php
It appears you have Windows 8.1, so the text in red should be:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:37.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/37.0
Or if it says 36.0 (and internally Firefox says 36.0.4) that is normal because automatic updates to new versions are limited during the first few days while Mozilla watches for problem reports. -
Of course after the reboot the same thing happens again. Please help.
Regards,
RobertDo exactly what is shown below, only if you are running Windows XP, Vista or 7.
1. Go to start menu on bottom lower left of your computer.
2. Click on Start.
3. Go to Control Panel and click on it to open.
4. Find where it shows "uninstall programs."
5. Look for Mozilla.
6. Right click on Mozilla and it should uninstall it.
7. When shows Mozilla is removed, reboot your computer.
8. When your computer reboots then download Firefox 7.0.
9. Download from "mozilla.org" direct or "cnet.com"
This should work just fine now. Hope this solves your problem.
Remember, if you ever install or uninstall a software program or hardware you need to always re-boot your computer if using Windows Operating System. -
It will not progress beyond 85-90%

Firefox's installer program does not accept my administrator password. The program won't load. I tried it with version 8 several times a couple weeks ago. Now I just tried it with version 9 a couple times. No luck.
I have been using Firefox as my default browser for may years and would like to continue using it.
thanksHello, is this how you did it?

Trying to install firefox-3.5, x86_64
There are so many packages on AUR for firefox-3.5, but they require xulrunner-1.9.1. So, I installed xulrunner-1.9.1 from AUR through yaourt, but even after installing xulrunner-1.9.1 from AUR, when trying to install firefox-3.5 I still get a message saying that it requires xulrunner-1.9.1.
How do I fix this?Try one that does not require Xulrunner (externally), like Firefox-PGO.
