When trying to print in iPhoto 9.1.1 error: "There were no themes located"

Hi, first time poster here. When trying to print a photo in iPhoto 9.1.1, I get an error stating "There were no themes located. Until at least one theme has been installed, this feature will be unavailable. This started after upgrading to iPhoto 11. I can print from all other applications so I know that I don't have a printer problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks for the suggestion Larry. This discussion is for iPhoto 7, and says to do a custom install using the system disk that came with my computer. Since I recently installed iPhoto 11 from iLife, should instead reinstall from the iLife disk, rather than the system disk that came with my computer?

You will not be deleting any photos or data about them - they are in your iPhoto library and you should not be going into it -- ever

Can't print from iPhoto. I have the :"There were no themes located"

I've read other threads. I have the Themes folders in both the HD and User folders. I tried moving from the User folder to the HD folder and rebooting. I cannot however, reinstall from the disk onto my iMac , because I installed the application from one of the two MacBooks I bought last year.
Could there be a problem with the Themes folders? I see similar files - one ending in -V.IPBookTheme and the other ending .IPBookTheme. Just trying to think of something. Any tips would be appreciated.
I don't imagine I could reinstall iPhoto 7 at this point could I? Would my photos transfer backwards okay from iPhoto 8 to 7?
I actually dislike Events so much that it might be worth it. But for now I would settle for printing from iPhoto. Thanks for any help.

That is in violation of the Apple licensing agreement.
"*2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions*. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on a single computer at a time. This License does not allow the Apple Software to exist on more than one computer at a time, and you may not make the Apple Software available over a network where it could be used by multiple computers at the same time. "
You'll have to buy a copy of iLife for you computer and do a fresh install.
An iPhoto 08 (also known as iPhoto 7) library is not compatible with iPhoto 6. You will have to start over with iPhoto 6 by creating a new V6 library and importing just the Originals folder from the V7 library.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.

If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

When trying to print a photo I get an error that themes need to be installed. I checked and themes are installed so what now?

I am on my MacPro desktop. I am using iPhoto vdrsion 9.2.3.
While perusing my photos, I click one and attempt to print the photo (Cmd P).
I get a dialog box alerting me to an error which reads: There were no themes located. Until at least one theme has been installed, this feature will be unavailable.
I have tried downloading the latest print drivers for my HP Photosmart C4200 but no luck.
Although I know that a basic theme allows you to select border, borderless, etc. for your printed photo, I cannot figure out how to install a theme.
My workaround is to email the photo to myself and print it from the Preview app.
PS: I read in another forum that I should check in user/library/app support/iPhoto for a Themes folder and if found, I should move it to HD/Library/App Support/iPhoto/ and reboot. But I checked for Themes folder in both of these locations and it is there!!! With some 98 entries. So now what? Reinstall?????

You'll have to reinstall iPhoto in order to get the themes linked back to the application. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/ folder,

You need to reinstall iPhoto. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the:

This could be as simple as dirty feed rollers but could require servicing in the end. See this article for feed problems. Give the steps a shot and let us know if it helps.

I'm suddenly getting a "communication error" when trying to print

When trying to print a document from Pages, which I have done before, my computer is showing "communication error" in the printer window.

As i said to leonie i have solved it by deleting all the previously saved photos and then it worked.
After which i formatted the card as per your suggestion and everything seems okay.
It was all overdue. Leaving that many photos on one card was stupid.

Can you print from other apps, if you can then please repost in the iPhoto forum. If you cannot then advise exactly what printer you have, the verison of OS X the iMac is using and describe exactly what steps you used to install the printer. Without these minimal pieces of informtion it's very difficult to assist you.

Message of "printer offline" when trying to print

Hello,
I have iphone 4s and a HP wireless printer a little less than 3 years old. When trying to print something from my iphone, it keeps giving me the message "printer offline" with choices for continue or cancel. I hit continue, but same message comes up a minute or two later. This happens even when my printer is awake and wirelss signal is strong. My phone finds the printer when i try to print, but keep getting this printer offline message. Any help would be appreciated.

Is your particular printer model AirPrint compatible? Here's the list, as well as guidnance for setup and use:

If your HP printer is not one of those on the HP list, then you wiould need some othe app to print from your iPhone. Search the App Store.
