When trying to send a message an error says phone not registered in imessage.

When trying to send a message from my ipad some numbers say not registered with imessage. How do I register a number?

  • Tried to send iMessage from iPod touch (5th generation) but continuously says "contact not registered with iMessage". The contact IS registered with iMessage, but won't send any messages to anyone.

    I have an iPod touch 5th generation (7.1.2) that has not been sending iMessages to other iMessage users. At first my iPod would not let me sign in to use iMessage, but I searched on different discussion boards that helped me log in. Now the trouble is not being able to send messages at all. I tried to delete the contact I was trying to message and restart the conversation board, but that didn't help at all. The contact continues to say 'xxxxxx not registered with iMessage" when, in fact, they are. I need help to resolve this issue.

    Did you launch iPhoto with the Option(Alt) and Commnad keys held down like Terence suggested?  If you did it properly you will get this window:

    I am trying to send a message to someone's ipod touch and it keeps saying the person is unavailable by imessage at this time. however I was able to reach this person yesterday. She did an apple id change yesterday and since then I can not message her. I can facetime her and email her but I can not message her. On her ipod touch it shows when I am typing and I can receive her messages but she can not receive mine. Other people in my family tested their messages and they are able to reach her but not me. Is there something wrong on my end?

    I tried that. Did not work. When I try to add her to message her it turns green and at the top it says new mms and then it sends my message to her email not to her ipod touch as an imessage.

    The "not recognized for on-line use" error is associated with the Gracenote service that iTunes uses to look up and retrieve metadata for CDs.  Some users have reported that this error occurs when trying to import from CD, subsequent to upgrading to version 12.  A number of slightly different solutions have been reported (though all of a similar nature).
    Try walking through the following steps - before starting you may have to enable hidden files and folders to be viewed - in Windows 7 / Windows Explorer select Organize > Folder and search options, then on the View tab make sure that Show hidden files, folders and drives is selected.  Without this you won't see the AppData folder in C:\Users\username\.
    Exit iTunes
    In Windows Explorer, go to the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
    Delete the following files:
    CD Info.cidb
    com.apple.iTunes.Gracenote.plist
    Restart iTunes
    Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
    If this doesn't work: 
    In iTunes, select Edit > Preferences and make a note (or take a screenshot) of your preferences settings in all relevant tabs
    Exit iTunes
    In Windows Explorer, go to the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
    Delete the following file:iTunesPrefs.xml
    Restart iTunes
    Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
    If this second procedure does work, you'll need to restore other iTunes preferences settings to those that you noted in step 1.
    If this one didn't work: 
    Exit iTunes
    Check the following folders:
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes
    C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Apple Computer\iTunes
    Delete any copies of the following files:
    CD Info.cidb
    com.apple.iTunes.Gracenote.plist
    iTunesPrefs.xml
    Restart iTunes
    Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
    Again, if this procedure does work, you'll need to restore other iTunes preferences settings to those that you noted in step 1 of the second procedure. 
    If you're still not able to retrieve CD info: 
    Exit iTunes
    In Windows, select Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.  Find the entry for iTunes, right-click and select Repair.
    When this process has finished, restart iTunes
    Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
    If none of these have worked (and almost everything I've seen suggests you should be OK by this point), you may have an issue with the installation and configuration of iTunes itself.  If you have got this far, see turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for advice on how to remove and replace of all components of iTunes.

    Before sending message please check following considerations.
    - You must have Message special access permission to send a message to a user.
    - You can send messages only to users whose sessions are in the active or connected state.
    - You can send a message to a user session in Remote Desktop Services Manager by using the Send Message action.

    I try to send a text message and my iphone 5 hesitates for several seconds or minutes before sending.  When trying to change screens it will stick for several seconds/minutes also.

        Gumbydpl, we appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue on your own. Has the owner of that mobile number tried reaching out to their wireless provider to ensure that there's no restrictions for sending text messages to your mobile number?

    Whatever the reasons are that you think the problem exists, you will not be able to resolve it on your own. Did you see this at the bottom of the support article that I suggested that you read?

    On your iPhone running ios6 whose number you want to register, simply log out of imessage and log back in, it should then ask you if you want to add it.
    A short time later you will get a push on your device saying it adding xxx-xxx-xxxx to your apple id
