When trying to update using help in LR from "Help" menue a dialogue box appears saying not possible as it does not have a programme associated with it
When trying to download latest version of software fro "Help" menue. a box appears saying there isn't a programme associated with so the action cannot be completed. please install a programme in the Default Programmes Control panel.

Check your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can prevent your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.
Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't preventing a connection to the Apple servers.

When trying to update Apps in iTunes on my computer my old Apple ID appears, which is no longer in use and has no password; even when I try to create a password for this Old ID, Apple won't let me. When I go into see my Account settings My new Apple ID / iTunes ID are listed and the passwords are correct obviously so why can't I update my Apps? I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option? -
When trying to log into itunes i get this message:
Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (itmss) isn't associated with any program.
I had to reset Firefox (due to slowness and shockwave error message that I kept getting). Itunes was downloaded after the reset, but I can't get into it? Any ideas?I ran into this same problem after Firefox auto-updated to v24! I'm on the Beta Channel and I had Firefox set to automatically update.
What I did to correct the problem:
1. Turned off all automatic updating.
Options> Advanced> Update [tab]
Firefox updates
[x] Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them
[ ] (unchecked) Use a background service to install updates
I also unchecked;
[ ] Search Engines (I will turn this back on after I'm done with my experiment.)
2. Googled 'Firefox v23 download', downloaded and installed: Firefox_Setup_23.0b1.exe (version 23, Beta 1)
Since I reverted back to v23, I haven't had any problems. -

You are posting in the "icloud on my mac" forum, but your profile mentions Windows. If using a mac, you need to have iphoto or aperture installed in order to receive new photos via photo stream. If using windows, try posting in the iCloud on a PC forum. You'll get better help there.

when trying to move email messages to trash I get a pull down box that says 'The operation couldn’t be completed. File exists'.

THIS FILE DOES NOT HAVE A PROGRAM ASSOCIATED WITH IT FOR PERFORMING THIS ACTION. PLEASE INSTALL A PROGRAM, IF IT IS INSTALLED CREATE AN ASSOCIATION TO THE DEFAULT PROGRAMS CONTROL PANELSTOP SHOUTING! Or at the very least, get the CAPS lock key fixed.
Remove iTunes.

My laptop recently tried to update software, failed and told me to uninstall and re-install which I have done and tried to do but again, the install has failed several times..
Please can someone help as I now don't know whether I have lost all my music and films... I will be gutted if this is so..

Are you using Windows Vista on a Dell, HP, or another Windows (Microsoft) based laptop? Or are you using a Mac?

If you're having problems with the App Store you might try this:
1 - enable the Debug menu in App Store:
open the Terminal application.
copy the command below and paste into the Terminal window:
defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
followed by Enter.
launch App Store, login.
2 - select the Debug ➙ Reset Application option:

Assuming your Itunes is working without problem, use Windows Explorer, right click the music file and choose "Open With", then "Choose Default Programs...", then Itunes and OK.
