When trying to use Turbo Tax, I can't get past a "System Compatibility Check" page.

That page leads me to download the latest Firefox which I did.
Is there a setting in Firefox that needs to be changed?Internet Explorer works fine.

    You may have blundered into "Full Screen" mode, an abomination ported from iOS, the iPhone Operating System, land of tiny screens and one-at-a-time Applications.
    Try clicking the double-arrows in the extreme upper right of the MenuBar or Window.

    I've spent the best part of the day unpicking this huge mess from the upgrade I completed last night - what a nightmare. I followed a tonne of advice - [actaully, this link was really helpful to me]: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/msvcr80-dll-not-found-missing -error.htm however, I still could not fix the **** thing - and that was following basically a day of uninstalling, installing etc.
    In the end - I completed a system restore taking my computer back about five days, and just ignoring the new upgrade with itunes until they can get this fixed.
    I hope that this might work for you and anyone else reading this. It nearly drove me to drink [!]. I seemed to get past one error message and have it replaced by another - so the system restore was basically the last resort.

    You can bypass the password and wipe the drive and return to the original facory installation if the seller included the orginal install DVDs with the Mac mini. If not you will need a retail version of Mac OS X.  To boot from the Install DVD restart the mini, immediately slip in the DVD and press and hold the C key.

    Make sure you don't forget about Rosetta.
    And you meet Mountain Lion Apple hardware requirements, and backup your data to at least two separate places, making sure neither is connected to the machine when the update is installed, and check that all your drivers are compatible as well.  Only upgrade to Mavericks if there is software you need Mavericks for.  Otherwise stay put until everything is up to date.

    I am having setup issues with a used 4S iphone. I can't get past the Apple ID step.
    First it said it was an existing ID and I should go to iforgot and reset my password.
    I did, but still keep getting the error message.
    Then I entered the serial number online support and it said the ID was another account. Would that be the seller?
    Do I need to get them to unregister under their name before I can proceed? Or...
    Please help. I start  new job on Monday that required me to have a smartphone. I need it up and running.

    Yes, you have encountered Activation Lock (Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support). The only way that phone will ever be usable is if the owner the phone is locked to releases it (see: Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account - Apple Support). If you are lucky the phone is locked to the seller, so you can ask them to unlock it. If the seller is merely a middleman and the previous owner is not the seller it gets much more complicated. It's even possible that you bought a stolen phone, in which case you will never be able to use it and you should return it for a refund.

    Congratulations on your new MacBook Pro. You'll love it.
    In terms of your PowerBook G4, apparently your Hard Disk Drive has failed completely and I am not sure what else it wrong.
    First, try this:
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Locate the following keys: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously later.
    • Turn on the computer.
    • Press and hold the Command + Option + P + R keys immediately after the startup chime.
    • Hold keys down until you hear the startup chime for the third time.
    • Release the keys and immediately hold down Shift key to start up in Safe Mode.
    • Log in and empty Trash.
    • Restart normally and log in.
    If that does not work try Repair Disk
    Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
    Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
    Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
    Select First Aid in the Main panel.
    (Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it says anything but Verified)
    Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
    If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
    If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
    If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need to use a utility like Tech Tool Pro or Disk Warrior
    If still no dice, try the procedure outlined in the article Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck.

  • I can't get past the Paypal Security Check.

    Oh My God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For the MILLIONTH time I CANNOT GET PAST THE SECURITY CHECK!!!!!!!!!!!! I am trying to link my bank account and the security check pops up every. single. time. This is literally my 3rd or 4th time contacting Paypal about this and I have yet to recieve a real response. The security check doesn not show my new phone number I added days ago. When I try to enter it in, it tells me that it cannot confirm that the number is mine and to try again. I have wasted three whole day trying to get past this. Where is Paypal support? Are they sleeping? This is getting ridiculous. I need to sell two items on eBay but I can't until I link my bank account. I need this done asap!

    This alert is often the result of iTunes being blocked by firewalls on the computer.
    Update to the latest version of iTunes.
    Try turning off your Firewall to see if the issue is resolved (this includes the built-in Firewall or a third-party Firewall such as Norton Personal Firewall, McAfee, Symantec, etc.). See iTunes for Windows: Music Sharing With Windows Internet Connection Firewall for steps if using Windows. See KB iTunes: Music Sharing does not work if Firewall is on for steps if using Mac OS X.
    If there's no firewall or security software interference, try to remove proxy settings.

    That's because you have to connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. You need to activate the iPad within iTunes on a computer - if the iPad does not have iOS 5 on it. iTunes will tell you what to do once you connect the iPad and start iTunes.

    I'm trying to change the Open With (in the Get Info window) program used with some files, but when trying to use the Change All button, I get :
    The operation could not be completed
    An unexpected error occured (error code -10813)
    I'm trying to change all my .BMX files to open with the BlitzMax program, instead of the currently (incorrect) program.
    Any reason why it should come up with this error message ?

    Not sure how helpful this is:
    -10813 - kLSDataUnavailableErr - Data of the desired type is not available (for example, there is no kind string).
    My guess is some sort of system corruption. You might try fixing the LaunchServices database:
    Open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder. Paste the following command in its entirety at the Terminal window prompt and press return. Wait for the prompt to reappear.
    /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/L aunchServices.framework/Versions/Current/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain system -domain local -domain user
    If the above doesn't resolve the problem then you might take a look at the information in this post for additional things you can try:

    I would also consider doing the following:
    Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
    Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
    If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
