When uploading photos from PC to iPhoto,

hi,
i am a new mac user, so am slowly finding my way.
i am currently transferring photos from my PC over to iphoto.
what I want to know is do i need to save the photo folder on hard drive if they are already uploaded into iPhoto?
also, where does iphoto store the imported photos?
thanks
jane

When you import into iPhoto, each imported set goes into a folder called Last Import.
One way to do what you want without losing your organization:
iPhoto / File / Import to Library. Navigate to the first folder on the pc. and click on Import. The contents of the folder on the PC will all come together.
On the Mac the photos will be in the folder called Last Import.
On the Mac, create a new folder with the name you want. (File Menu / New folder)
Move the photos as a batch (select all) from the Last Import folder to the one you just named.
Do this as many time as you have folders.

  • Cannot upload photos from iphone to iphoto

Since upgrading my Mac to OS Mavericks I have lost the facility of uploading photos from my iPhone to iPhoto.
I have iPhoto 8.1.2 and my phone runs iOS7 with iCloud.
Some advice has said refer to iPhoto Preferences and use the iCloud link there, but there is no iCloud link in my Preferences.  I have tried to upgrade iPhoto, but discovered that it is only possible through iLife and I don't need all of that.
    Any help would be appreciated.

This solved my questionRe: ios update problem - 7.1 11D167 iphoto not picking up new photos
Mar 20, 2014 7:15 AM (in response to JdinPa)
I figured out the fix for the Mac users having this problem. I connected my iPhone to my iMac and started iTunes. A dialogue came up in iTunes, I OK'd that and then OK'd the usual "Do you trust this Mac" that comes up on my iPhone.
Suddenly Image Capture launched itself and there were all my photos, ready to be downloaded.

  • Unreadable files when uploading photos from iphone 4s?

I have been trying to upload photos from my iphone 4s which I took recently onto my mac laptop and they seem to be unreadable and aren't uploading for some reason?
    Any help appreciated.

If you want help you’ll need to give us more information. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • When uploading photos from iphoto for ebay they look horrible

I'm new to Mac. I have a new digital SLR Nikon D40 that takes the most magnificent pictures. When I look at them in the iphoto library and even email them from the library, they look awesome. Also, if I click on a photo in my library it tells me the photos is 2000 x 3008 and 1.4 MB.
I went to do some listing on ebay. I use sellersourcebook.com for templates. Then you upload your pictures to them, they do the photo hosting and assign an URL to each photo you upload. When I do this, my photos look blurry, small & grainy. I emailed their tech support and they told me I don't have enough pixels. I don't understand how this is true? Then someone suggested photobucket as a free photo hosting site. The same thing happened. Also when I uploaded photos to Costco from home to print I got a warning saying the photo isn't good enough quality and won't print right.
When I upload it opens up finder, I click on pictures, iphoto library, data, 2007. I went to the camera shop today where I bought my camera to see if they could help. They suggested that I may be uploading the thumbnail and not the original photo. I thought I was uploading the original photo.
    Can anyone help?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
When I upload it opens up finder, I click on pictures, iphoto library, data, 2007.
Yes, the Data folder contains the thumbnails created by iPhoto for quick display of your library. The original resides in the Originals folder. If you have applied any edits (including rotation) then the edited version is in the Modified folder.
But it can be difficult to know whether the photo you need is in Originals or Modified. Plus, it is recommended that you NOT delve into the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder. Any changes you make there will cause damage to your database.
The sanctioned way to upload your photos is to select them in the iPhoto application. Then do File > Export > File Export to a folder on your Desktop. The export dialog gives you the option to rename or resize the copies, if you like. Upload the Desktop folder, then delete it when done, as your files remain in the iPhoto Library.
    Regards.

  • SL & permissions when importing photos from iPhone into iPhoto

    Got a weird one here.
SL, iphoto '09, iphone os 3.
Before SL, I could import photos from the iphone into a shared iphoto library and the default file permissions on uploaded photos would be read-only to all users, and so all users of the Mac could happily see all uploaded photos.
However, since SL, the default permissions to all are No Access (changing the permissions on the underlying file sort this, but that's a tedious manual operation of course).
Strangely though if I connect a digital camera then the default permissions for photos uploaded from that are read-only to all as desired. So it does look like an issue around the combo of SL and iPhone.
Anyone got any ideas on how I can get the behaviour I want with SL?
    Thanks,
    Marlon

    HI,
    Try repairing disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • Cannot upload photos from iPhone to iPhoto (NOT Camera Roll)

I just came back from vacation and stored all the photos I took with my digital camera on my iPhone so I could clear out the camera and continue using it. I have ovr 1,000 pics and videos combined on my iPhone that I cannot seem to import onto iPhoto. I have no problem uploading to iPhoto the pics from my iPhone that I take using my iPhone but cannot figure out how to get the other pictures off. Can anyone help? Thanks!

I just came back from vacation and stored all the photos I took with my digital camera on my iPhone so I could clear out the camera and continue using it.
Also, if you stored them by syncing in iTunes, that was a bad idea. The pictures are downsized when they are synced to the phone, and all you can recover are low-res copies of the originals. The iPhone is NOT a good backup mechanism.
If for some reason you have no access to the computer where you originally downloaded the photos from the camera, there are third-party programs that will recover (low-res, downsized) photos from the phone. Google PhoneView or TouchCopy.

  • HT201317 is there a way to upload photos from photostream to iPhoto?

My iphone died- had to replace it, and hadn't uploaded photos. They are on my ipad's photostream, but they aren't seen by iPhoto. Is there a way to force upload?

If any of the photo stream photos are over 30 days old, they are no longer in your photo stream, which would explain why iPhoto can't see them.  (After photo strem 30 days photos are deleted from your photo stream but not from any device that already has them, which is why they may still be on your iPad but not be in your photo stream.)
You could still save the photo stream photos to your camer roll (open your photo stream album on your iPhone in the thumbnail view, tap Edit, tap all the photos to select them, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll), then import them to iPhoto (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083) and sync them to your replacement phone by selecting them on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.  Another option is to use an app like PhotoSync to wirelessly transfer photos from your iPad's photo stream folder to your computer and/or your replacement phone.

  • Uploading photos from Droid to iPhoto on MacBook Pro

  • How to upload photos from pc to iphoto?

I've photos in my PC(Window XP, can I upload them to icloud or iphoto?

Sure you can. But networking a Mac and PC has nothing to do with iPhoto. As long as the Mac (and iPhoto) can see the photos on the PC you can import them.

  • When downloading photos from my camera, iphoto will unexpectedly quit. One help suggestion said to try deleting iphoto preferences, but I can't  find them.

Iphoto unexpectedly quits while I am downloading photos from my camera. I logged in under a different name and it worked fine, whcih was one suggestion in my handbook. If that worked, which it did, the book suggests deleting iphoto prefences. But where are Iphoto preferences? I have looked high and low and cannot find them. Any other ideas?  I have a boat load of photos in this primary user log in, so...maybe I need to increase iphoto's RAM, but how do I do that?

Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7 or later: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.
What version of the OS? What version of iPhoto?
How many is a "boatload"? There's no way to "increase iPhoto's RAM"

  • Safari freezing when uploading photos from iphoto to websites such as walmart or shutterfly

What should I do?? Already did a hardware test.

Did you try restarting your computer?
Are you running the latest version of Safari that your computer supports?
Is all your software up to date?
Worse comes to worse, you can install Firefox or Chrome and see if you can upload using those.

  • When uploading photos from my PC to IPad, it gets to the very last stage and then just stops synching.  I've tried multiple times and even from scratch, but same unsuccessful result.  Very frustrating and not sure what I'm doing wrong.

When synching my photo library (selected folders) to my IPad, it reaches the last (6th) step and then I see the folders appear on my IPad for a brief moment, but then the synch stops and the photos failed to upload.  What's the deal?  After 6 attempts, I give up.  THis should not be that difficult and I've spent way too much time trying to figure this out.  Makes me want to throw out my 1st generation IPad and go with another tablet manufacturer.  Anyone who has experiened this or knows how to remedy would appreciate hearing from you.
    Tx

Never have this problem. That's just weird. Maybe there's something wrong with one of the photos?
Try viewing those photos with quicktime first?

    Help much appreciated.

The next step is to repair your main library: apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • I cannot upload photos from iPhoto 9 to Flikr. When I attempt to do so, I get the message "the login details or auth token passed were invalid." Please help.

I cannot upload photos from iPhoto 9 to Flikr. When I try, I get the message "the login details or auth token passed were invalid."  I am using iPhoto 9 version 8.1.2, and my OS is 10.9.5. My computer is a MacBook Pro. I do not have this trouble with my iMac.  This trouble started before I updated to OS10.9.5.  I do not have this problem when uploading to FaceBook or sending by e-mail.
This problem started when I tried to upload some photos after hitting the "use other account" tab. This took me to a Flikr site asking me for permission to make my iPhoto information available to others.  I clicked "yes," and then I changed my mind and clicked "no." I haven't been able to upload to Flikr since.
I searched Flikr and Yahoo for a solution, and Yahoo says the trouble is in iPhoto.  I checked my Flikr account, and iPhoto extensions are enabled.
I need to upload some school and alumni photos, so I sure could use some help. I am Not computer proficient.  Thank you.

    1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?
