When using filters I get a "Cyclic Redundancy Check"

Anyone know why this happens? When I try to use the "Liquify" filter, which I tend to use ALOT, this happens now:
Error:
The operation could not be completed.
Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
Sometimes it happens with other filters too but always with this one. I upgraded to Photoshop CS5.1 and it worked for a week and now it started happening with THAT now. Im lost and I cant use it at all. Please help!
My system is Windows 7 64bit with 6 gigs of ram, Intel core 2 Duo 2.13 Ghz

Do you perhaps have the Image, or maybe some of your Filters on a CD/DVD?
I have not seen that error in a very long time, and that was when trying to edit from a CD.
If there is no CD/DVD involved anywhere, then take Noel's suggestions strongly, and prepare for a potential HDD replacement.

Boot Camp error when installing XP - cyclic redundancy check

I am trying to install Windows XP through boot camp and I have tried settting up using NTFS or FAT and when it go to the XP installation screen I kept getting an error: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check).
Does anyone know if there is anyway to solve this issue?

Yeah, cray-z is right. Check that boot sector anti virus is turned off. If that is not the problem check your h/d jumper settings or try loading the default bios settings, and if still no luck write zeros to the first 50 (I think and I will probably be corrected) sectors in your hard drive. I had the same problem and when I called western digital these where the steps the customer service guy told me to follow.

but no result :( (i mean all processes failed. They could not detect the drive).

hi guys.. i'm new here.. just switched to macdom a few days ago but unfortunately, i have been having problems trying to install windows xp with sp 2 on my system using boot camp. everytime i install it, i get to the setup screen ("39 minutes till setup rah rah rah", "windows xp is awesome because it has this cool interface etc... rah rah rah") and then the error of doom comes out -_-

an eror has been encountered that prevents setup from continuing
one of the components that windows needs to continue setup could not be installed

if you are installing from a cd, there might be a problem with the disc; try cleaning the disc or using another disc
if you are installing from the network, it is possible that not all of the files were copied correctly to your disk drive. run the disk checking utility on your installation drive from the recovery console and start setup again
press ok to view the setup log file
i have tried numerous times without fail and it is getting to my head.. gah.. if someone could help me out, it would be massive and i would sell my soul to you! (kidding).. thanks for reading!

I guess there is a problem with your XP CD, probably scratched or did not burn successfully. Have you tried it with another installation cd?

Cyclic Redundancy Check when trying to install Windows XP Pro SP3.

Hi, first time posting and I did check for online and on these forums for the answer. I am stumped really and I don't know what to do. I go through the Partitioning part with Boot Camp fine. It's where I am on the blue Windows XP screen installing it, has all those 'helpful tips' on the page.
Well it says it's installing and will take 39 mins and after 2 mins a menu pops up saying there was a critical error that happened: Cyclic Redundancy Check. It basically says the install Disc is dirty and cant be read. The problem is I bought this disc off of Ebay and am worried I can't get an exchange for a faulty disc. Its the real deal too, it's not a burnt disc or anything.
So does anyone know what to do? I cleaned the disk, rubbing it with a fine cloth...has no visible marks on it at all.

you might wanna try making a full 1:1 disc-copy of your Windows XP CD.
You can do that with SimplyBurns for example http://simplyburns.berlios.de/
(Disk Utility can do it also, but I find SimplyBurns easier to use).
Retry installation with the Copy.

Several ways to get similar results. Image > Adjustments > Posturize with low values similar to what you'd use n Cutout. This is the most flexible way I can think of as you keep the image in RGB mode with layers intact. A more radical approach would be to reduce bit depth using Indexed Colour. You'll need to experiment with settings, try changing Forced to Primaries, and Matte to Foreground Color. There's no going back from this route, although you can change the mode back to RGB to re-enable layers, adjustment layers etc.
A nice thing about the Filter gallery filters is that you can change the layer to a Smart object with all the control that gives you.
Now if only this forum could filter out bizarre content.

Ok, if you are connecting the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) to the existing wireless network, then the DSL in the next room is most likely a combination DSL modem and wireless router. Thanks for clarifying that for me.
Although they may only be separated by a single wall, the building material used in that wall may be enough to prevent the AX from receving a "good" signal from the DSL router.
Since I don't know what computing equipment you have available, please check out this AirPort User Tip: AirPort - Optimal Base Station Placement to see if you can get some SNR measurements at the location of your AX. To do this properly, you will want to power-off the AX and only get these measurements for the DSL router.

Can anyone please help with this? Our Tape Drive died and we got a new one from our Maintenance Company. Since then large backups to tape are failing. When the jobs are small they seem to go through OK but when the job is greater than around
200GB then it fails with the error below.
I tried updating the tape drive driver but Windows said that the drive wasn't functioning properly any more.
The only difference between the old faulty drive and the new drive is the firmware. We used to have A422 in the old drive. The new drive has D8D5. Can someone please help as it's driving me crazy.

It sounds like another faulty drive - You can try to reproduce the problem outside of DPM using some external utilities.   If you get an error before the tape fills you can use net helpmsg errorcode to see what the error was.
Download the DPMerasetape.zip file from the following link and extract to c:\temp folder.

StorE steel 640GB - data error (cyclic redundancy check) message

I have had the StorE drive for a few months, so lots of data on it.
Today windows detects it as a local drive and when I attempt to access it I get a message telling me the disk needs to be formatted, when I select no, I get a message saying *data error (cyclic redundancy check*) message.
Help.
I have tried two other laptops, both give same response.

Itunes wont start unknown error (-69) and cyclic redundancy check

I use an ipod shuffle and am on itunes 6 (or 6.1 maybe) on my windows compaq presario laptop. I was burning a number of disc from itunes and all seemed ok. The shut the computer down and the next day came to do the same thing and itunes wouldn't start the application with an unknown error (-69). I am also getting a cyclic redundancy error when I try to delete some music or picture files now aswell. I have tried to uninstall itunes and reinstall but this hasn't helped. I thought I might delete all my music and pictures off the hard drive as they are also copied and stored on an external drive but it wont let me delete certain music and picture files now. Can anyone help. Have tried to do a CHKDSK on my pc but that's not helping either and it is running very slowly now. Anyone had the same problem and been able to resolve it??

When you install from a CD, that CD could have been manufactured several months prior, and not have the latest anti-virus definitions.
While an internet connection is probably the most common vector for an infection, its not the only possible one. Any CD, removable drive, etc could be the source for a virus.
Because the computer is also running slow, its possible you have other applications running in the background. Some of which may have been inadvertantly installed.

Cyclic Redundancy Check on External Hard Drive

External hard drive isn't showing up in My Computer. When I try to open up in disk management, it throws a "Cyclic Redundancy Check" error message. After doing some digging online, most solutions involve running dskchk in the command prompt, but when I do, it says that the drive is RAW and it can't be done. I can't find a solution for this. Please help!

That file is in it's proper location, it's currently 6.5 gigabytes.

It might be that your data file (.ost) got corrupted while archiving. Please first check your hard disk for errors, then try to repair your data file by using Inbox Repair tool (scanpst.exe):

Cristalink says that Microsoft knows the bug and are not responsible for this matter as firestreamer have no error in log.

I am having this issue on my DPM 2010 server. I use HP Ultrium LTO 5 tape library. I get this error
DPM encountered a critical error while performing an I/O operation on the tape AB1234L5 (ID 30101 Details: Data error (cyclic redundancy check) (0x80070017). The error remains the same for this one particular tape. Should I remove thattape? I logged in to
the library UI which does not report any error.
