When using mini port with HDMI adapter, can only see front page (stars) will not display whats on screen??

Using a HDMI adapter on mini port the only picture on TV is the front Mac page (stars) and not whats on the Mac screen.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, after I posted my brain kicked in and I recalled that mid 09 were not audio compatible. not a big deal anyway since there are multiple ways to listen...

Is HDCP protection always on when using Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter?

I'm trying to capture my MacBook Air (2010) desktop for use in a Podcast.
So I purchased a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and plugged that into a HDMI capture card on another machine.
Unfortunately it keeps telling me the stream is protected and it won't display anything.
I've tried my 2010 iMac and 2011 Mac Mini too, but they all produce the same issue.
If i plug them directly into a TV instead then they display fine, but not when connected to the capture card.
A windows based laptop with HDMI out works fine as does a DVD player. But when I attempt to play a cop protected DVD - then the HDCP kicks in and the picture is blocked.
Does anyone know if there is a way to display just the Lion Desktop without invoking HDCP protection?

Is the failure repeatable? If not, I would forget that it happened once and move on. It had something to do with pages moving in and out of the registers. S**t happens.

The Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adaptor will only pass video in most cases. You will need to run a separate audio cable along with it. Likely a 3.5mm (male-to-male) cable. Or a 3.5mm (male) to red/white RCA (male) cable. Just depends on what audio input ports your TV has dedicated to the HDMI input.

I found a solution posted from Rodfromnework for PC users. It worked for me and easy to do.
Start --> Programs --> Accessories (Right Click on Command Prompt) --> Run as Administrator
then type in:
Netsh winsock reset
Hit enter, restart PC, open iTunes, go to Store
Hope it works for you too.

You can only import photos from the camera roll into the computer. Is that the album that you are seeing?
Any albums that you create on the device itself (the iPad that is) cannot be transferred to your computer. iPad created albums do not contain copies of your photos but merely pointers to those photos so they do not actually exist in those albums.

Firefox will not display on the screen even though with Process Explorer I see Firefox.exe active but no CPU usage

I use Firefox v10.0.2 as default browser on Dell XPS8300 e/w Intel Core i5 & Windows 7 Ultimate and Compaq Presario CQ57 e/w Intel Core i3 & Windows 7 Home. More frequently on the (about 90% of attempts) than the Dell (50% of attempts) Firefox will not display to the screen when I click on icon. When it happens I cannot display other programs. I specifically say display because I believe Firefox has started. To circumvent the problem I installed Process Explorer on both machines and start this program first then click on Firefox icon. When problem occurs I can see Firefox.exe process in Process list; some CPU consumed but, then, no CPU activity. If I click on Firefox icon again another process opens in Process list but with same response - some CPU consumed and then no CPU activity. If I have 2 processes running and kill the 1st process, the 2nd will display and everything from then on is normal. If I do not open a 2nd process but kill the 1st process then click on Firefox icon Firefox is displayed and everything from then on is normal. This problem has occurred since original installation on both new machines. I've updated video drivers in both machines.

Ok, let's see if we can fix this and get it working for you!
First, if you start Firefox in [[safe mode|safe mode]] (restart your computer first, then when you open Firefox, hold down the shift key) does it start up more reliably? This is usually caused by a faulty add-on. If it does help, then restart Firefox, go into the Firefox button, then add-ons, and disable your extensions one by one until you find the trouble maker.
Also, try updating to Firefox 11, it has several bug fixes that might make life easier here.
Just as a few basic troubleshooting steps to make sure we have all the bases covered,
Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.

Hooking Up LCD TV Using mini DP to HDMI adapter ?

I am wondeirng if the Mini DP to HDMI adapters will work for my application as I have searched a few MFG. websites for the details but it seem all will only work fully (audio + video) with a LCD TV with a HDMI chip V1.3 or above. A LCD TV with a HDMI chip below V1.3 will get you only video.
My macbook pro supports audio though the Mini DP I know this for sure.
I cannot find the version of HDMI on my TV it is a Toshiba 42hl196 made in 2006. But I am betting it is older than V1.3.
I was trying to get away with only one cable so the Mini DP to HDMI adapter is the way I am wanting to go.
Can anyone tell me what version HDMI chip is in my Toshiba 42hl196?
Also can anyone recommend a Mini DP to HDMI adapter that would work for my application? Or am I stuck buying two cables like a Mini DP to VGA - connect to TV then run component audio (W/ stereo adapter) out of headset output on Macbook to TV?

if your tv says hdmi audio it has hdmi audio (which it does) get this anyway since you're trying to make this connection and make sure you set your sound to the hdmi audio.

Iphoto photoshop brousing -can only see photos in iphoto albums not in pict

Why can I only see photos in albums and not in the general area of iphoto? In the finder it seems like there are no photos in the folders.
This started with my new camera a Canon A610 my older photos are there in any type of search. What can I do to make the Canon pictures show up in library. I am worried that the pictures are not there on my back up harddrive.

MacBooks Pros don't run iOS.
It might help if you changed the browser or check if the Java or Flash versions are current.
Contact Outlook.com and ask them which Mac web browsers are most compatible.
And inform them that http://www.anybrowser.org/ has instructions on how to make websites browser platform agnostic.

Creating PDFs using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and can only see the first 10 pages in PDF even when the page numbers on bottom state 10 of 13 (or any number greater than 10).

PDFs create great, unless they should be over 10 pages and then it appears the data was converted to PDF by viewing the page numbers at the bottom of the PDF but you can only view the first 10 pages in the pdf file.

Have you tried repairing Acrobat from the Help menu?
Acrobat 9 is an older version and incompatible with new OS versions, so I would suggest you to try using Acrobat XI (latest version) and check for the same.

I have this same problem on my iMac since installing Mavericks. The emails download, I can see who they are from and when they came, but nothing shows up in the message pane. I can see emails I got before I installed Mavericks, although about half of them did disappear. Sure would like to find a fix--perhaps the 10.9.1 update will do it?

Web pages with Tiff with more than one page! Can only see first page!

Please help me out. This is kind of a big issue for me.
For work I need to visit regularly a webpage which contains a number of official documents that have been saved on the webpage as Tiff files with multiple pages.
I can only view the first page on the ipad!
I think this is a problem linked to quicktime, as I also have it on my pc I open the documents with quicktime whereas on with Windows Life photo Gallery, I see all the pages...

I don't believe there is a single app that can view any but the first page of a multi-page tiff currently available for the iPhone or iPad, though a few paid iPhone "doc-viewer" apps' descriptions would seem to imply that they could.
However, if you are able to upload these files to google docs, then use the **desktop** version of google docs via Safari (there's a small link to this at the bottom of the page on the default mobile version), it will correctly display and navigate to each page of your multi-page tiffs. This is completely free, and you could probably stream-line the process to your needs, but it does seem like a lot to go through for such a simple feature. It's possible that this would work with equivalents to google docs as well.
You're right that you're not alone in needing this feature. It seems like it should be quite easy to implement, but no app appears to have done it. Maybe requests to the writers of several doc-viewing apps would do the trick, especially given the importance to enterprise.

I can only see the free eBooks.... what am I doing wrong?

After reading numerous post here, after spending hours with Google, after interchanging mails with Apple support and after talking to two different agents..... I still can't download anything but free eBooks. No doubt it is something simple that I am doing wrong but after several weeks at this I am getting to the point where I want to throw the iPad out of the window!

I have an account on iTunes
I have downloaded many other applications for the iPad
I have bought music via iTunes
...... but as I have said when I click on the "Store" button on the iPad I only see the free books.

OK, well I spoke to the shop again, a different person this time. Again they said that the necessary agreements were in place in Spain and that the ibook store should work.
It still doesn't.
So I update my account, used a UK credit card and a UK address and it works fine. So still not sure what the problem is, or why Apple couldn't sort it out for me, but I am now up and running via the back door.

I have just purchased a Mini Display to HDMI connector for my MacBook Pro 13", but the whole time I am using it, I am worried I am going to blow my Graphics card as my TV is 42". I am just worried that the graphics card will be being over used. I am only using it for graphics design stuff at the moment, but I might start using it for the odd game like, Sim City. Do you think I have anything to worry about.?

I would ask for one of those laptop backpacks for the holidays. They are around $60 or so and have a seperate padded section for the Macbook Pro.
