When using tab, automatically opening Home page

When I open a new Tab, it directs me to a blank page. I would rather that it would open to my home page. I know that there is something out there to make it so. But I am at wits end.

A blank page on a new tab is the Firefox default.
Install the following add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/newtaburl/
After installation and restarting Firefox:
#click Add-ons > Extensions
#scroll down to NewTab URL and click Options
#click on "Home Page" to select it '''''OR''''' click on "URL" to select it and enter the address of the page you want to open when you open a new tab

Hello. I have windows xp. When using Firefox as my home page, I get awful screen interference of lines verticle and horizontal. When I switch to Internet Explorer I don't get them. I want to keep Firefox as server.

Here is something that you can try:
    # Click on Tools and then click Options.
    # Select the Advanced panel
    # Select the General tab
    # Uncheck Use hardware acceleration where available.
    # Click File and then click Exit.
    # Start Firefox normally.
Once you have followed those steps, you'll want to follow these as well and see if the lines are gone.
Click the Help menu and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
Let me know if this has eliminated the problem.

  • Tabs d0 not close on exit; when restarted, last-used tabs automatically open. How to I close ALL TABS on exit so that nothing re-opens when Firefox 4 is started?

All last-used tabs remain "visible" and do not close automatically on exit from Firefox 4. This means that when a new session is started, the last-used tab (website) automatically opens. How can ALL TABS be closed on exit from Firefox?

Go to Tools | Add-ons | Plugins ans disable "My Web Search". This program is spyware and will cause you all sorts of problems. After you disable it, go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall it.

  • How do I set new tabs to open home page

How do I set tabs to open my home page instead of a blank page?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

    Hello Justin.
You can simply middle-click the home button to open the home page in a new tab, or you can install one of the many extensions that let you tweak what the new tab opens. [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1122 Tab Mix Plus] and [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/777/ New Tab Homepage] are two of them, although they have different focuses.
    I hope this helps.

  • Is there a way to open new tabs in the home page or some other link?

When I open a new tab using the "+" symbol I get a blank page. I would like new tabs to open in my home page, or, if possible, a different page, like my favorite web browser, which is what I usually want when I open a new tab.
Can this be done? I can't find the right preference for it, assuming that's the right place for such an option.

Nothing beats about:blank in my opinion for clarity and for tab history.
Here is an extension that does what you asked for, it is VERY large for what you get out it (which to me, what I would get out of it is confusion).
    '''NewTabURL''' :: Add-ons for Firefox (49.2 KB)
:Select default URL when new tabs are opened: "Blank page", "Home page", ""Current page" or a user defined URL.

Extra pages can be a sign that a bad add-on has crept into your Firefox. For example, an Astromenda infection.
cor-el pointed you toward Firefox's Add-ons page, and I suggest also checking here:
Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
For further cleaning, try the '''scanning/cleaning tools''' listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.

  • A lot of memory is used when multiple tabs are open

Is there anything that can be done about the insane memory usage in Firefox when multiple tabs are open? I often have 20+ tabs open and the amount of RAM that Firefox uses when I have it open with this many tabs is just ridiculous. As an example of this, I just restarted Firefox after checking the Windows Task Manager. The Task manager said that Firefox was using 1.2 GB of RAM. I did have 32 tabs open, but this seems excessive even for this many tabs. Some of the tabs were image heavy, but none of them had any video in them. I'd think 10 MB per tab of RAM would be plenty to cover these kinds of pages, maybe 20 MB at most. The upper end of that range would be 640 MB of RAM. Instead, it appears to be using an average of 40 MB of RAM per page when this many tabs are open.
Is there anything that can be done to reduce amount of memory being used when multiple tabs are open? It really shouldn't need this much RAM to serve this many pages.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

  • Why cant I find an add-on to open a new tab in my home page on Firefox 5?

I have been able to open a new tab in my home page (Google in my case) in all of the other versions of Firefox. I am a loyal user but this is frustrating. I cannot locate an add-on for this feature. Is there something out there?

You can use one of the following IF you also install the Add-on Compatibility Reporter, below (the developers need to update one line of their code to make them compatible with Firefox 5).

The following Add-on adds a "Compatibility" button in your Add-ons > Extensions that you may need to click after installing it and restarting Firefox.

  • How can I set the opening home page of FIrefox to display the current bookmarks. This used to work with bookmarks.html but I understand this file is no longer current.

I wish to display my current bookmarks as my opening home page in Firefox. I do not wish to use the Bookmarks sidebar instead. It used to work to open with bookmarks.html, which was and still is stored in my Firefox profile. However, I understand this file is no longer kept current but is only retained for legacy/compatibility reasons, and that the current bookmarks info is now stored in places.sqlite, etc. Is there a way with the new versions of Firefox to display as a full opening webpage the assuredly current bookmarks? Thank you

    Hi Jaime,
Are you saying, you are getting junk characters in the email attachment? Then pls check the following. Since you want to send Japanese fonts, please pass language 'J' in both  objpack-obj_langu = '3' & doc_chng-obj_langu  = '3' instead of '3' please replace it with 'J'.
Another thing which you may have to check is the SCOT device type. As I understand from my basis colleague, this may also affect your attachment fonts since the emails are sent through SCOT. Go to transaction SCOT-> Settings-> Device types for format conversion. Check whether wrong device type is defined for Japanese there. Hope this helps

    Hi,
As far as I know, when you have a WiFi-connection all data will go through WiFi and therefor will NOT use your 3G data.
    Kind regards,

Can't get any help from apple. their suppot *****! I want to get someone on the **** phone or a live chat but cant. *** APPLE????? please let mw know if you find SOMETHING i can try next. I'm out of ideas and patience!

  • When using Tab Groups, is less power/memory used or is it the same as when all the tabs are opened in the task bar?

When using Tab Groups, is less power/memory used or is it the same as when all the tabs are opened in the task bar?

it's just another View for your tabs which needs less *space* in the taskbar, but same *memory* of your computer.
exception: if you (re)start FF and restore the last session (with lots of tabs/groups) there is an option in FF-Settings to load the (content of the) tabs only as soon as they are clicked, and not as soon as FF starts. That trick saves memory.

  • Regardless of settings, Firefox 4 opens previous tabs instead of home page.

Firefox 4 ignores setting under options to open home page, and always opens tabs from previous session.

Make sure that Firefox closes properly. Otherwise Firefox may try to reopen a crashed session.
