When using the search function in mail I only see results from the current year. how can I see results from all years?

When searching mail results only contain messages from the current year. I'd like to see results from all years. This just started after upgrading from Snow leopard to Lion.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

In OS Yosemite the search function in Mail, Finder, Spotlight… does not work. Messages or documents with the search criteria are there and one could find them manually, but the search function fails to find them. Following advice from Apple Support (728965377):
1. I applied an Apple protocol for adware removal (Remove unwanted adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac); I had none, because I had formally utilized a similar protocol that I had found in Internet, actually an app that implemented automatically Apple's adware removal protocol.
2. I rebuild the post boxes in Mail (Mail (Yosemite): Reconstruir buzones); It took a while but it functioned properly
3. I re-install the System (OS X Yosemite: Reinstalar OS X); It took about 4 hours but there was no problem whatsoever with the installation.
Afterwards I searched for messages in Mail, and documents in Finder and Spotlight, without any difficulty. The search function in all of them was working properly. But the next time that I needed to search messages or documents, an hour later or so, the problem reappear and a couple of new issues occurred:
1. in app RagTime 6.5.2 (Build 1821), www.ragtime.de, the menu bar disappears (it is invisible), when one performs certain operations, e. g., calculating a value with a formula, whether it is in a spreadsheet or some other component (text, drawing, etc.). After touching with the cursor the menu bar is visible again.
2. after reading an e-mail in Mail or copying an address, this is seeing as a floating object in the finder and over every application. There is no logical way to get rid of the floating object and neither copying or deleting or cutting it. It is not a big issue but nonetheless bothersome.
3. In Mail, messages with Flag or in VIP contacts cannot be seen in the appropriate folders, only in the Incoming mail folder, together with other messages. It seems to me, this issue is part of same search function problem.
4. The preview function within Mail does not show the attached documents to a message, whether it is in the IN, OUT or Draft boxes.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try again to re-index Spotlight. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Ah, you had Photoshop 7.0 working, and now it's not. I see that as a separate issue to updating it. I'm not sure why it would ask you to update it.
Do you know whether you have 7.0 or 7.0.1 at this point? You might be able to do a Properties function on Photoshp.exe and see that info.
You could make an attempt to reset Photoshop's preferences to defaults. Press and hold Control - Shift - Alt simultaneously immediately upon cold-starting Photoshop. If you get the keys down quickly enough - and you have to be really quick - it will prompt you to confirm deletion of your current preferences, which will lead to the establishment of a fresh default set. If it does not prompt you, you haven't been quick enough to get the keys down.
Only other thing that comes to mind is to use Windows System Restore to restore back to a restore point where Photoshop was working, or restore from a backup (you do make backups I hope).
If that fails, and you need to do a fresh install but no longer have the original disk and serial number I'm afraid you may be out of luck. There's no place I know of from which to download a fresh full copy of Photoshop 7.0.

Get rid of the tracking cookies. They are used to profile and track your browsing history. While they are privacy invading, by calling them spyware, MacScan is being a little dramatic in trying to sell you its crap. And in the future, for whatever browser you use, don't allow third-party cookies.
To prevent tracking, get Ghostery. In addition to having Ghostery and forbidding third-party cookies, I clear out all cookies from one browsing session to another. If you always do that, you won't have any tracking cookies to worry about, so you won't need MacScan to find them for you. Btw, MacScan finds the tracking cookies in the first few minutes of scanning; if you want to use it for that, then that's all the time you need to run it for. But, as I said, you won't have any tracking cookies around if you just remove all cookies and don't allow third-party cookies. As soon as you visit a site that needs them, you'll just get new ones. No problem.

When an album has multiple artist how can you make them show up on an iPod Touch 4G? I can find an artist using the search function but they don't show up in the artist view on my iPod. iTunes shows them OK when you sort by artist.

Tech support seemed to understand the question but had no answer. Why would an album with only one artist show the artist but an album with multiple artist not show any of them. The album art show various in iTunes. That makes sense but on my iPod I would expect to see all artists.

Wish I did. I tried the group function but that didn't help in iTunes. The search function is the best I came up with. I can answer the question do you have susch and such artist. But I can't browse for an artist I don't remember exactly or have misspelled. Fortunately I don't think I've bought anything from iTunes that i already had. If you can't see an artist it's possible you think you don't have something you actually do have. Sorry, still hoping for a better work around or better yet a fix.

The search function in mail has virtually stopped working

What's going on???? I can no longer find anything using the search function in Apple Mail Version 5.2 (running on OS 10.7.4).
If I put in the name of someone I have exchenged maybe 500 emails with, it only finds one or two, or maybe none. The same with key words. And I can suddenly no longer search for partial email addresses (like @bankofamerica.com).
I tried rebuilding some of my bigger mail boxes, and a) it took a LONG time and b) it didn't help.
I have not made any chenges in my software, and a week ago I seemed to be searching just fine.
Any idea what might have happened and how to fix it?

Workaround: SWVMS16 Crash when using Camera Search Function

When using the camera search functionality, SWVMS16 may crash. The issue is caused when non-camera UPnP devices on the network send out large packet sizes. Upcoming video monitoring releases will fix this issue.
Workaround: If the issue occurs, add your cameras manually to the SWVMS16.

file is not used by the search function so you can rule that our.
Have you tried recompiling and seeing if the problem still happens?
You can also start the Bug Hunter feature in RH - View > Output
View and then select the Bug Hunter button - and see if that throws
up any clues.

Premiere project timeline strobing when using windows search function..

Hi, I've been noticing a weird issue with Premiere and locked layers strobing/flickering on screen (on the actual timeline). What seems to set it off is if i have a project open, and then go into windows explorer and run the search function on a folder (searching for .avi's or .jpg's or whatever). Once windows starts searching (and after it stops as well) when I go back into Premiere everything starts flickering (most noticeably on the diagonal lines on locked layers in the timeline). It makes it almost impossible to scroll through your project with the flickering, and the only way to fix it is to shut down Premiere and restart. Has anyone else experienced this?
Yeah, I'm running on Windows XP Pro 64bit, and i'm sure that 'might' be the reason for it, but thought others may experience this as well on other Windows OS systems.

hey... yeah I've updated all my drivers. I was actually having this same problem in general with my old NVIDIA drivers back in January (with any locked layers in Premiere). When there was an updated driver released, it appeared fixed. It only comes up now if I do a windows file search as I mentioned before.
Maybe it is a NVIDIA graphics card thing?? Anyone else with this issue?

Deleted emails found when using new search function in 3.0

When I do a "search iPhone" I see a list that contains emails that were deleted, some as old as two months. These found emails do not exist in my Comcast account, and they were deleted from Trash. I thought I was not storing any emails on my iPhone, but I can actually call them up.
How do I get rid of these "deleted" emails?
I hope this hasn't been covered too much already, but I could not locate a thread.

I too have done some search's today in the new search function and found deleted e-mails. I use bigpond for e-mails and they get sent to my phone. I then delete them from my phone and trash box and delete them from my e-mail. Using my computer and bigpond my e-mail account has 33 e-mails that I can find. Doing a search on my phone with this new sortware update I can find 870 e-mails which I believe date back to december last year when I got the phone. Some e-mails are VERY sensitive business wise and deleted as required at the time. But if a work person was to pick my phone up they could do a complete search of all my emails without the requirement of a password. If I let someone make a call on my phone, they can get to all the emails that have ever been through my phone within seconds if they choose. A patch or update is needed!!! This fault would hinder business from wanting to use Iphones.
Is there a way to fix this? and how soon?

Since downloading IOS 5 Itunes keeps randomly opening up and popping up on my desktop screen, not just when I turn on computer but randomly even though I sign out of itunes. How can I stop this from happning

After installing ios5, itunes randomly opens up on my desktop on my laptop computer. Not just when I start my computer but when I'm on it. itunes just opens. I've searched settings in itunes and my desktop and don't know where to go to stop this from happening. itunes will just open. I've rebooted laptop and tried signing out of itunes and it still happens. Anyone have any suggestions on how to make this stop??

While it is clearly the wifi syncing that is causing it, the device almost never shows up in the device list, and I've already unchecked that box. I have two devices that I'd love to wifi sync, but neither show up today on the device list, despite iTunes continually popping up every 5 minutes or so. Buggy...

Yes, they are in iPhoto in a smart album. I didn't know they could be imported to iTunes so I got excited. I went to add to iTunes library. I can see them, but when I try to add them, it is grayed. I clicked on New Folder, but it won't go. What am I missing?

actually you can change password on that account by resetting password at that site
iforgot.apple.com. After that he will not have access to your data anymore.
you also can wipe his phone, but I don't know if you want him coming after you for that.
If email that you use for apple id is accesible by him you can also change your apple id at the site
appleid.apple.com - just login and edit apple id to new email that he would not know.
Once again, you can do bad stuff to him, but usually it is better to leave that to the police.

HT1338 On macbook MAIL the search function doesn't work?

On my macbook retina pro with latest updated softwares the search function in "MAIL" doesnt work. It is supposed to be pretty simple fucntion and on my iphone and othe rmail programs it works fine. However once i type anything in "Search bar" at top right then inbox goes empty and nothing appears. Whereas the search bar gives options of sveral email names etc, even if i select one. It doesn't work.

Which search function do you mean?
*searching via the location bar (pref: keyword.URL)
*search bar on the Navigation Toolbar
*search bar on the about:home page (pref: browser.search.defaultenginename)
*other search bar (e.g. added by extension)
Is this about the about:home page?
If there is a problem with searching via the default about:home page then try to reset the search engine used on the about:home page.
Reset the browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone pref via the right-click context menu to the default on the about:config page and close and restart Firefox to restore the about:home page to its default.

If this didn't help then delete the delete the chromeappsstore.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder and repeat the above.
You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

The search function and up next option on mini player has dissapeared?

I don't know what I've clicked, or maybe not touched anything but in the last few weeks the search function and up next playlist has disappeared on the mini player. I'm using OS Mavericks, anyone else having this problem or know what to do? Thanks

With the exception of the occasional Russian and German questions that appear here... If the manual is written in English, and the questions posted here are predominantly written in English, I'm not convinced that language is therefore the problem.
I think it kind of works like this... When newbs come here, they:
1) have no prior experience to realize how often a similar question's been posted
2a) aren't familiar with the "etiquette" of searching for similar questions befor posting
2b) aren't familiar the lameness of the search engine on this forum in order to even get answers; or, they've tried it and come up with years' worth of posts to sift through and quickly move to...
3) ...posting a question because they want a quick fix -- they're probably excited about getting up and running quickly with Logic
I have always had problems with the readability of the Logic manual, and I still find it difficult to comprehend because it's really poorly written (IMO). Most, sentences in, it read, like, this. And there's a wont of illustrations (pictures are worth...).
I think some questions are so basic that they don't behoove a response moreso than "spend some time with the manual first". Occasionally I've indulged a total newb (not to single anyone out). It's maybe 75/25 that I felt like I had actually made a difference to their understanding, the poor ratio due to the fact that they simply needed to read the manual first.
Yes, it's frustrating to see newb posts dominate for a while and push more serious questions to the bottom. The occasional OT post is OK, IMO, but what bugs me more is when they predominate.
BTW, can anyone recommend some good strings for a 3-string backpack-style dulcimer?
