When waking up my phone it shows 3G rather than WiFi... why?

When I "wake up" my iPhone 4S it always shows 3G for a second or two and then goes back to WiFi.
Is that normal?
How can I fix it?

iPhone automatically disconnects from WiFi, in sleep mode, to save battery. If you want WiFi to remain persistent, plug the phone into a power source & it will not disconnect from WiFi while in sleep mode.

The "?" in a graphics container box means that the file can't be read, hasn't been downloaded or is simply unavailable.
If you'd tell us where, exactly, you're seeing this icon, we may be able to help. If it's in email, for example, usually all you have to do is select "download pictures" (I use Outlook, so I don't know the Mail equivalent).

Thanks for the tip, but I had already tried this and it did not help. The File still downloads and , at the same time, a new Safari window opens - but the Safari window is blank.

but this deals with Safari 5.1 which evidently has a problem with Adobe Reader.
I am using Safari 5.0, so the suggested solutions do not apply. ( I tried them anyway, but they did not work.)

[SOLVED] ls -l shows GID rather than group name

Hi Guys,
As the title suggests, ls -l shows GID rather than the group name. (The username is listed correctly). The groups command also shows only GIDs and not the corresponding group names.
I have issued the pwconv, grpconv, pwck and grpck commands and these all run without error.
What am I missing here?
Any ideas much appreciated.

Thanks very much Celf, you were correct, the /etc/group file was only readable by root. The chmod 644 fixed it.

Mysterious white screen when waking up the phone by using the lock button

Anyone else experiencing this?
Every now and then (about 5 out of 10 times) when my phone would fall asleep in an unlocked state, and i press the top lock button to wake it up, my screen turns white for a few seconds before returning to its normal screen. This doesn't happen if i wake up the phone with any other key (including the silent button on the top). I am only having this issue with the lock button. Is this something that is normal on all 8900s? Or can this "issue" escalate to something more serious? Any input would be great. Oh by the way, i already tried multiple battery pulls (did not help).

I am unable to get into the chat. I tried explorer and chrome and neither will allow us to access the chat. It continues to go around and around.

XL reporter to show zero rather than #Ref for account section with no value

Hi,
Customer is using 2007A PL30. They do not want Profit&Loss and Balance Sheet to show if the account is having zero value.
Eg. Subsection of P&L report
Payroll
Salary                          0.00
Bonus                          0.00
Casula wages               0.00
Total Payroll                 0.00
Office Admin Cost
Courier charges         100.00
License fee               200.00
Total Office Admin     300.00
Total Cost                300.00(0.00+300.00)
Expected result: Do not show anything for Payroll(no figure) but only shows those rows with figure and Total Cost.
After I check the option in XLR\Advanced Report Builder (Do not display blank records), the system cannot display subtotal for Total Cost because Total Payroll is having #Ref. May I know how to overcome this problem?

If I understand the issue then you need to resolve this in Excel. If you have these requirements you will need to write VBA code to make this work the way you want.     You can go to http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/xlreporter/ and then go to the Files section and search for Method to exclude zeros.

Apple ID iCloud address showing green rather than blue.

I just helped a friend obtain an Apple ID. Subsequently, their new icloud address only shows as green in Messages on my iPhone. From my Mac it shows as Blue as it should be. I am puzzled as what to suggest.

When closing how can I close each tab rather than multiple/all tabs

I click the X to close and the pop up choice is all actually the number of open tabs (3 or 4 etc) or cancel. When I use Internet Explorer I can close each one at a time. "close all tabs or just this one" until all are closed

I don't know whether that is a built-in option.
Perhaps you can get used to a different way of closing tabs... You should have a small "x" on each tab, or you can right-click a tab and choose Close Tab, or you can press Ctrl+w to close the currently displayed tab. What do you think?

I have 2 residences each with a printer. When I move from one place to another and try to print I always have to make sure the correct printer is shown in the print window. What can I do to make one change on my MacBook Pro when I change locations so I am not bothered with this nuisance problem?

There was a way from OS9 location manager to set a default printer for any given location. This is not the case in OSX.
You can however, easily change the default printer in Terminal.app with lpoptions -d PRINTERNAME. To view all the printers type lpstat -p. Keep in mind that the name in lpstat -p may be a little different than the name in Printer Setup Utility. You must use the lpstat -p, PRINTERNAME when changing it in Terminal.app. Of course, if the names are the same, you don't need to worry about it.

Websites shows codes rather than page

When I am surfing the web and try to open a certain page and I get what I assume is code. Sometimes I can get the page through refresh and other times I have to go back and click the link again. The sites affected seem to be completely random. The two most common are facebook.com and deviantart.com
I didn't have this problem before. What's going on?!

Can you try opening up Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode Safe Mode]? Go to Start -> All Programs -> Mozilla Firefox -> Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode). Safe Mode will temporarily disable your add-ons and custom settings, which will help to figure out if the problem is within Firefox or something else about your system or network.
It's also might be worth trying to connect to a different network to see if the problem is your router or connection.

Samsung 19" showing 1360x768 rather than 1440x900 as external.

I purchased a Samsung Model: LNT1954H from Best Buy about a week ago and thought it was going to be able to mirror my 17" resolution at 1440x900 as an external display. As stated on bb's website http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8251296&type=product&productCatego ryId=pcmcat95100050020&id=1169512521005 it supports that size. When I hooked it up the highest resolution I can choose is 1360x768 @ 60hz. Is this normal? I'm considering returning it because I'm really not happy that it has that resolution. Any ideas as to how to get it to that or why this is happening would be greatly appreciated.

my last post wasn't quite correct.
I have reread the reviews I mentioned earlier and it seems that at the moment there is not one HDTV TV (regardless of what display size), that is displaying more than 1360x768 when connected to a computer.
The conclusion of the review was, that the manufacturers are obvious not willing/capable at the moment to change this.
So waiting to buy or buying a computer monitor, as you said, seems the way to go at the moment.

If we have a specific server say 10.10.10.10 (abc.co.in) on which we are working, Then under RZ12 we make the following entry as :

parallel_generators        abc.co.in_10         ( Lets assume : The instance number is 10 )
Now in SM59 under ABAP Connections , I am giving the following technical settings:
TARGET HOST          abc.co.in
IP address                  10.10.10.10
Instance number          10
Now if we have a scenario of load balancing servers with following server details (with all servers on different instance numbers ) :
10.10.10.11
10.10.10.13
10.1010.10
10.10.10.15
In this case how can we make the RZ12 settings and SM59 settings such that we don't have to hardcode any IP Address.
If the request is redirected to 10.10.10.11 and not to 10.10.10.10 , in that case how will the settings be.

This may depend upon your providers for data and wifi. If you pay for 5Mbps Wifi and get it, and your 3G is only providing a throttled 1Mbps signal then your wifi will be faster.

Depending on your Settings this is normal behavior. Check the Settings app as JimHdk suggested.
