When was Business Objects XI 3.0 GAed??

I am trying to find out when Business Objects XI 3.0 was GAed as my company won't install anything which was being GAed within the last 6 months, I called the Sales number and he told me it is Feb 2007. I highly doubt that since people were only talking about the upcoming XI3.0 release when it was back in mid or late 2007. Therefore, I don't think the Sales is giving me the correct info. Does anyone have a link which I can find out the official GA date? I need something in writing from SAP/BO though. Please advise and thanks.

  • Trying to find out when was the object last referenced?

    Hi All,
Is there a way I can find out when was an object or all the objects in a schema were last referenced along with the time it was referenced (May be a standard code all_references as such)? Just want to find out if there are any dormant objects. Thanks for the help,
    Reddy

    Hello,
    No.
You can query user_dependencies and compare to all_objects, but this will only show you objects that have no direct dependencies. You will not be able to identify objects used only by e.g. shell scripts or a JAVA application.

  • Use of MYSQL when installing Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.1

    Hello Team,
I am quite new Business Objects and right now I am using Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.1.
when installing BO XI 3.1, I was prompted to select the database server to be created. I chose MySQL.
Now, I am curious to know the pupose/involvement of a database server for BO. I understand that the database is being managed/used by CMS and it has four main functions:
    Maintains security (users)
Manages objects (folders, reports, and program objects)
    Manages servers (services)
    Manages auditing (system auditor).
Is there any better explanation to the database and its purpose?
what does the database schema/user holds (any database objects,tables,etc..,)?
Does repository and database schema the same?
Are all the report objects, users and universe being stored in the database schema?
Thanks in advance for the reply.
    Regards,
    Kathir

CMS handles security and routes the request to other services.
Yes, CMS also maintains the BOE repository.
CMS is responsible for authenticating users and groups, and keeping track of the availability of the other BusinessObjects Enterprise services. If CMS is down then users wont be able to log into BOE.
Report Objects, Universe are stored in the Input File Repository and the instances are stored in Output File Repository server.
In simple words, CMS is like heart of BOE.

  • Restriction when using Business object

    hi all,
Currently i want to use Business Object to create a new Company code. After searching the Business object in Transaction SWO1, I find 'BUS0002' can realize it. But there is only one import parameter of method 'create' , that's the company code key id.
Is there any solution to import other parameters, such as description of the company code, currency etc. when using the business object to create the company code?
    Thanks in advance.
    Vivi

    hi RS
just writes a test program :
      DATA: BEGIN OF objectkey,
             bukrs LIKE t001-bukrs,
             butxt LIKE t001-butxt,
             ort01 LIKE t001-ort01,
             land1 LIKE t001-land1,
             waers LIKE t001-waers,
             spras LIKE t001-spras,
           END OF objectkey.
      objectkey-bukrs = '2010'.
objectkey-butxt = 'My company code description'.
      objectkey-ort01 = 'NEW YORK'.
      objectkey-land1 = 'US'.
      objectkey-waers = 'USD'.
      objectkey-spras = 'EN'.
      swc_container container.
      lv_object_type = 'BUS0002'.
      swc_create_object obj lv_object_type ''.
      swc_create_container container.
      swc_set_element container 'objectkey' objectkey.
      swc_set_element container 'CORR_NUMBER' 'EB2K900952'.
      swc_set_element container 'SUPPRESSDIALOG' ' '.
      swc_call_method obj 'Create' container.
At runtime session, there is no value transfered to the maintainence view except the company code id.
When i go through the program of 'create' method,
    i found that:
    Call maintenance of CompanyCodeId
      CLEAR V_T001.
      V_T001-MANDT = SY-MANDT.
      V_T001-BUKRS = OBJECT-KEY-COMPANYCODEID.
      CALL FUNCTION 'VIEW_MAINTENANCE_SINGLE_ENTRY'
           EXPORTING
                ACTION                       = 'INS '
                CORR_NUMBER                  = CORR_NUMBER
                VIEW_NAME                    = 'V_T001'
                SUPPRESSDIALOG               = SUPPRESSDIALOG
                INSERT_KEY_NOT_FIXED         = INSERT_KEY_NOT_FIX
           IMPORTING
                CORR_NUMBER                  = CORR_NUMBER
           CHANGING
                ENTRY                        = V_T001.
so i guess, it should be enhanced some coding here, something like
    V_T001-BUTXT = OBJECT-KEY-description  ?
but i am not sure about it.
What do you think about it?
Thanks again for your kindly help.
    Regards

  • JDeveloper 3.1 Crashes when using business objects wizard

I am having a problem keeping the business object wizard from crashing the program. When i select my tables to create objects from the wizard crashes when it is generating the java code and xml files. If I select one object at a time the program seems to behave better.
There are other instances where either the program hangs or crashes. Is there something wrong with my environment? I am running windows 98 on a laptop with 128Mb of memory. I am using the Java vm that came with Jdeveloper 3.1 as far as i know.
    Thanks.

Ahh .. boy I feel silly. I am trying to use the tool for about 44 tables. Again if I create objects for one table at a time it seems to work better.
The other problems I have is the random hanging or crashing. If I am patient and rety my operations a lot the tool's functionallity generally works.
Is there any plan to certify this tool on 98?
    Thanks.

  • Cannot select find operations when exposing Business Object

    Hi,
I have created a business object from which I need to 'find' instances. The business object has to be exposed as a web service.
The business object has 'find***' operations. However, I cannot select those operations when I try to expose the business object as a web service.
How can I get those operations to be selected?
    Regards,
    Rahul

    Rahul-
There is a limitation with CAF web services that they can not cater to collections. The findXXX methods always return collections hence they can not be exposed as web services. There are alternatives however - create a custom Complex Type which contains the collection. Create a method in an Application Service which calls your findXXX method and then returns the collection "through" the custom type you have created.
For example, if you want to return a list of purchase orders create a wrapper structure as follows:
    ReturnStructure
         PurchaseOrders [0..n]

  • Receiving CRW32.exe error when starting Business Objects XI

I have a user receiving a CRW32.exe error every time she try's to start Business Objects XI and she cannot even run the application. I have already tried uninstalling / re-installing the product and removing all related registry keys with no success.
FYI - The PC exceeds all system requirements to run it.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What does your Windows Event Viewer logs and BusinessObjects Enterprise logs suggest?

  • Business Objects 4.0 GA

    Hello everyone,
Could anyone from SAP please answer my question below.
When is Business Objects 4.0 BI Platform going to General Availability?
This is quite critical to us as we are trying to setup a new Business Objects environment and would really like to start with BI 4.0 rather than BO XI 3.1.
I was under the impression that it will be available for GA in first week of July 2011 or last week of June 2011 but seems that hasnt happened.
Thanks a lot for any input.
    Phani.

    Hello,
the following blog from SAP anounces SBOP BI Platform 4.0 for September 16, 2011.
But you can download the software with full SAP support in a so called Pre-GA-Status at the moment.
Based on efforts over the last several weeks, BI 4.0 is targeted to become generally available starting September 16, 2011. The SAP Ramp-Up process ensures that our customers and partners receive the best in software quality and performance as this is the largest release of SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence software in company history.
In its current product release phase, any customer currently on SAP BusinessObjects BI maintenance can access BI 4.0 for use in production with full support from SAP.

  • Business Objects Data Service notify Busienss Objects Reporting ?

    Hi,
Do you see me if it's possible to notify Business Objects reporting when the Business Objects Data Services has finishing these jobs ?
It's a standard integration or customization in your side ?
    Thanks for your help
    Gilles

We had to customize it by putting in script code, at the end of the job, that updates a table with the job name time it started and time it completed. This table is then cross-referenced with the Universes and finally reports that it involves. The end users logon to a JSP page that we created that allows them to search by report name to determine if all jobs related to the report have completed. If even just one job is in progress or hasn't started, it shows the report as not being avaialble for execution.

  • Error message in DTW when choosing any document business object

    Hi,
We have an issue uploading AR Invoices, Credit Notes etc. with DTW.
We have installed DI-APIs and DTW on a server, which does not have SBO installed. DI-API was installed by copying and running the installation files from a server with SBO 2005 (680320) installed. This is the same server that we are connecting to in DTW. DTW was also installed by copying the setup.exe file for SBO2005 SP01 from another place.
All business objects work fine (Chart of Accounts, Business Partners, Items etc.) except for all document objects (Credit notes, Invoices etc.). The following error message is received:
    "Runtime error!
    C:\program files\SAP\Data Transfer Workbench\DTW.exe
    abnormal program termination"
We also tried with another data migration program called xFusion Studio. But also here documents upload generates an error message:
"An exception was thrown by target of an invocation"
Do you know if this is due to a problem with the DI-APIs?
Could the problem be related to the fact that SBO is not installed on the server? Anything else?
    Very thankful for help.
    Tobias.

If the issue was due to SBO not installed on Server then none of the templates should have worked. But you seem to have COA and BP working.
How sure are you that your templates are fine.
If possible could you comment here about the columns of your template that have data.

  • Java plugin for business objects not found. When trying to modify a business objects query, it says a plugin is required but none are found. What do I need to do?

I downloaded firefox 4.0 and attempted to use business objects. A screen comes up saying that a plugin is required but when I click on the screen, it say's no plugin is found. I am using the latest version of Java but it seems that the plugin is not there.

    There is workaround.
Enter “about:config” in the browser’s address bar.
    Search for “html5.parser.enable”.
Double-click the row to set the value to “false” (row should also go bold to indicate change).
There is a possibility that it may cause HTML5 compatibility issues down the road but it solved the issue.

  • Why Business Object???when BW is in Place

    Hi
i am quite confuse that what is Business Object and SAP BW , when sap already has BW then why there is need for BI-Business Object. How does it make diffrence.
    Regards
    Aryan

BO is very strong at the interface level and that is the part that will replace the current BW tools (WAD, BEX and Report Designer), in some cases the functionalities are much improved, Crystal Reports is a thousand times better than Report Designer, I'm quite convinced that even a Light version will bring in improvements.
The backend won't change though, so you keep your DSOs, Cubes and all other BW/BI specific tools for modeling.  BO has some datamart and ETL tools, but these will be separate offerings as much for SAP and non-SAP customers...

  • WAS Inst on the NetWeaver 7.2 platform for the Business Objects XI 4.0 SP1

    Hello to all,
I have tried to install the WAS on the NetWeaver 7.2 platform for the Business Objects XI 4.0 SP1.
Ok, more preciselly. I have tried to install SP1 for the Business Objects Enterprise XI 4.0. We have had a distributed installation. An application is under the Windows 2k8 R2 platform and the web server (WAS) is under the Unix, where runs the SAP NewWeaver 7.2 CE.
Installation of the SP1 on the application side has ran just fine. Installation of SP1 under Unix went fine as well till I tried to undeploy the previouse one WAS. At first it could not start, it could not find the java, even the wdeployGUI.sh should use its own java, while it happens. I have edited a profile of the appropriate user for using this "own" java. The same I had to do for the pearl. It ran, but It took a very long time - more than two hours. (We have experience from the base installation, that it supposed to be very quick.) So, I have killed three apropriate processes and wav, undeploying ended successfully.
Next, I started to deploy a new WAS. But it has been broken several times with the information (from the <INSTALL PATH>/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/wdeploy/logs/wdeploy.log), It could not reach the server with the error message: "Error occurred during the action  deployall", "$". I am sure, the acess datas are correct.
    Any ideas?
I thing there is some problem with the java and pearl settings. But I can not find relevant webappdeploy_unix document for the SP1, so I do not know, why the deploying could not start automatically as in the case of the base (non SP) installation.

    Hi Randy,
Universe is an important part of the Semantic Layer, whether it is version 3.x or version 4.x of SAP BusinessObjects. In version 4.0 (officially known as BI 4.0), you will be using the new Information Design Tool to build universe. It is highly recommended for all of your presentation tools (i.e. WebI, Crystal, Xcelsius/Dashboard, etc) to go through the new Information Design Tool for data (including BW data).
The BI 4.0 Virtual Launch is scheduled on Feb 23. I suggest you to sign up at http://virtualevents.sap.com/business-analytics/login.aspx.
By the way, the SAP BusinessObjects does not have a version 3.2. The most current one is version 3.1. You might be confused with the FixPack which is now up to 3.4.
    Hope this helps.
