  • Sound interruption when watching streaming video

I have an Apple TV and use it to watch Netflix and Youtube.  After upgrading to ios 8,  I experienced frequent sound interruptions when watching streaming video
Has anyone else experienced this problem?  I have a third generation Apple TV.

I was able to fix the sound issue by changing the resolution to "720P -HD" instead of "Auto".  Not ideal but it works.

Often when watching a video, TV show on ABC or Hulu Plus, after going to the full screen, the Press Esc to return line in the middle of the screen does not disappear. What can I do to remove it so it does not detract from the viewing?

When watching a video in itunes, is there a way to zoom in on the video? For example, zooming to 200%?
I've been looking but can't find any option to do this.

You should be able to click on the change themes button and go back to your original theme.  If all of the text is currently in the book then make a backup before changing back just to be on the safe side.  To do so just click on the book icon and type Command+d (Duplicate).

  • I have a new Macbook Pro.  When watching Youtube videos, it works perfectly until I attempt to watch the video in full screen.  When in full screen, the video freezes immediately and the audio continues.  When minimized it works fine as before. Help?

I have a brand new Macbook model A1502.  I am taking online college classes that incorporate youtube tutorial videos.  I can watch the videos if I don't maximize the screen to full screen.  When in full screen, the video freezes immediately and the audio continues uninterrupted.  I can press escape and go back to the previous screen and the video continues to play with no problems.  Can anyone help me please?  This machine is literally just out of the box with maybe an hour of use.  Thanks in advance

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Fan starts to make loud noise when watching youtube videos

Hello there, I have been having a problem with my Macbook Pro for a while and I hope I can find some help here. My Macbook Pro has the problem that when I am watching youtube videos and I have the fullscreen option on, if the video is lasts, say more then 4 min or so, then after a while the fans start to kick in and they keep getting louder and louder for no reason.
It also does this sometimes when I open the spotlight to search for something, although that hasnt happened as much lately. But this is really getting annoying, I mean, why would a simple video from youtube, make the mac go all crazy as if I was rendering or exporting video, its nuts. I have all the updates installed too.
I also went to an Apple store, and of course when I try to show the person the issue I have, the macbook pro works just fine! Its somewhat random. I told the guy that I have Applecare and if they could just hold onto the machine and test it out themselfs and the guy tells me, that I have to pay THEM for this service if they dont find anything. What the? Is it my fault if the issue doesnt come up during their suposed testing time? What if they just dont do anything to it, and then say they dont find anything, and im suposed to pay for this even though I have Applecare? There must be something wrong.
Anyway, I really appreciate any help and guidance I can get on this issue. Btw, my Macbook Pro is the second generation one, the one with Intel Duo Core 2, 2.33 ghz, 2 GB ram and the ATI video card. I also recently ran Disc Utility from the install disc and I repaired some issues on the HD, but its still the same.
Thank you for reading and (hopefully) responding to this topic.

Thank you for the replies. I have just downloaded the iStat Widget and I noticed that the fans were at about 2800-2900 rpm and the sound wasnt noticable, I then played a youtube video that lasts for 5 min, although already on the 1 min mark the fans were getting louder when running in full-screen mode. I then checked iStat and it peaked at around 5994 rpm. I then stopped the full screen viewing and it went back to 3000 rpm after a while, and now it seems to be locked at 2400 rpm.
What I dont get is, why is it that when I play videos from my hard drive and watch movies, even in full screen mode, it doesnt get near 5990 rpm at any point, at least I dont notice any loud fan sounds. Although that has happened when I watched a HD video from my desktop that lasted about 6 min, but the fans didnt go as loud as right now.
Also, a few days ago, I was playing a small flash game on the net, and I got the same problem with the fans as with the youtube videos. I read that youtube uses flash, is this right? Could there be something on this? I have downloaded the latest flash player version though, so I dont know whats going on.

  • Exsessive buffering when watching internet video?

I am a pc user switching to mac...
I want to watch videos over the web, but have found that difficult. The main problem is constant buffering. It will play 2 seconds of video and then buffer, making it unwatchable. This is both connect via Ethernet or wireless, using a high speed cable modem.
    1) Any ideas what to do?
    2) How does switching video cards affect this issue? I cannot see any difference in resolution between the two for videos, but I think I should.
    3) How can you tell if your internet connection is wireless or over Ethernet? I realize you could turn wireless off or unplug, but I figure there is an easier way.
    4) I assume different webs use different video formats. Does this affect the issue of buffering?
    Thanks
    Bob

In general, I don't know the format that a web site uses. Is there a way to tell?
Here is a good example I ran into today. It buffers so much it is unwatchable.
    http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/business/resellers/index.html
Out of curiosity, what is the speed of your Internet connection?
For example, I had problems with buffering on a variety of operating systems when I had a 640K DSL link that have largely gone away with a move to a 8M cable modem connection.

  • White spot appears in one corner of the screen when watching YouTube videos?

Hello.  I have a fifth generation iPod Touch and when I watch YouTube videos, I notice a little white spot appear in only one corner on the screen.  It does not show up on the screen when I am using applications, just on YouTube.  Why is that happening?

What happens when you view in landscape orientation?Try:

Contact the developer/go to their support site if only one app.
    Restore from backup. See:

  • Screen colour temperature changes (bluer) when running web video, iDVD

An odd intermittent issue I noticed since upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion.
Noticed on MacBook Pro 15" (high resolution), Early 2011 (MacBookPro8,2).
When I launch iDVD the screen turns brighter and a more blue-ish hue. It reverts when I close iDVD.
Issue is not isolatied to iDVD, for example it also occurs when running BBC Olympics web video content:

Anyone know the cause or have a workaround? Driving me crazy!

Preventing the MacBook from dynamically switching from integrated (not blue) to discrete (blue) is not really suitable for me. What is posted in above links are only workarounds that limit the functionailty of my device. I want to use the features of my Mac as intended by Apple to preserve battery life. I want both display drivers to show the same colour.
PRAM reset never worked for me.
Booting Mac, logging in then off and on again is also a workaround -- I think mentioned here somewhere previously. This is a major pain though, as you can imagine.
Thanks for drawing my attention to display mode switching as being the potential cause however.

  • Disable screensaver when watching internet video

I have hooked up my mac mini to my flat screen TV and I use it to watch internet video. What is the best way to ensure (besides manually switching it off) that the screen saver does not turn on when I am watching internet video?
I could not see any settings in Energy Saver nor in the Screensaver settings.

Might want to inquire the VNC software developer. It might be specific to the VNC in question, since different VNCs offer different levels of access to the environment.
It's not about the functionality of VNC. I just use VNC to log in to the mac mini, browse to hulu or abc.com or whatever and start the episode and make it full screen. After that I just disconnect from VNC, but the video is running on my TV just fine.
So while the video is running I have no control of the mac mini unless I log into VNC again and press alt/option or any key, which is cumbersome.
Since there is actually activity on the computer, the screensaver should not even start, so I am not sure where I need to change the setting.

  • IOS6... How do I see the full screen when watching youtube videos and second the map quality is very poor, foggy most of the time and images overlap to each other... Can I restore to IOS6 if these problems can not be solved?

I just upgraded to IOS6 and I have some difficulties that I never had on IOS5:
How can a see the full screen when watching youtube. Address bar is always in view.
Maps are foggy and some images overlap to eachother.
If these problems can not be solved, how do I downgrade back to IOS5?

No, there is no legitimate way to downgrade iOS to an earlier version.
Be patient, Apple will eventually get around to fixing the "bugs" in iOS 6.
You can leave feedback here: Apple Feedback.

  • When watching a video on youtube, if the monitor blanks for power saving, when it resumes, the video area is green (not refreshed) but the sound keeps playing.

    Steps:
    1. Video is correctly playing on youtube
    2. Since I'm just watching and not pressing any key or moving the mouse, the display will blank for power saving after some minutes
    3. I move the mouse to wake it
    4. The video area is solid green, while the sound continues playing
    5. If I switch tasks, the area from the other task gets painted over the video area, it seems like the video are is never refreshed after the suspend/wake

    Hello,
Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems|this article]] for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
#Go to this [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues Adobe Flash Player Help page].
#Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
#Click on '''Settings''' in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
    # Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/>[[Image:fpSettings1.PNG]] <br/>
    # Remove the check mark from '''Enable hardware acceleration'''.
    # Click '''Close''' to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
    # Restart Firefox.
This [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html Flash Player Help - Display Settings page] has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.
Does this solve the problem? Let us know.

  • When watching a video on youtube and then you press on YOUTUBE logo or make a search, the sound from the previous watched video keeps playing.(i'm in safe mode)

This happens only in firefox and it happens in normal mode(aka with add-ons) and in safe mode.

Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the [http://mozilla.com/plugincheck Mozilla Plugin Check site].
Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions.
If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow ''Update'' button or a red ''Update now'' button, please update these immediately.
To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.

  • How can I view video clips on other web sites? Nearly every web site that has a video clip to view is unavailable to me because my iPad doesn't support flash! I can't believe the iPad is unable to do this. How can I watch web video clips.

What feature does iPad have in placement of flash player. Not having access to many web sites is killing the iPads appeal?;,

Not to sounds rude, but this issue has been covered so much in the media that I find it hard to believe that people still don't know. However all iOS devices, never and will never support flash natively. Google "apple adobe flash war". There are some alternatives, try skyfire browser in the app store. Not perfect but might help. None the less, most sites these days support html5 video which runs on iPad. I am actually having hard time running across a site which doesn't support iPad. however that is my personal experience based on my personal interests.
