When will Comcast Provide Docsis 3.0 Support in Santa Cruz County, CA

Comcast customer service and its marketing claim that it provides 105Mbps download/10Mbps upload performance with its Internet Blast! package; however, it is well-known that download speeds for Santa Cruz County are 25Mbps and upload speed is not more than 5Mbps. Customers in Santa Cruz county are paying for a service that they are not receiving.  My understanding is that it is possible to provide higher speeds for S.C. county customers but Comcast is restricting the performance of the cable distribution infrastructure at the head end.  Can any Comcast employee shed some light on why this is the case and when Comcast will address this issue? Customers in nearby counties are enjoying the advertised performance without paying more.

Coincidence or not, shortly after initially posted on this forum, my performance level increased significantly, to approx. 124/Mbps/12Mbps. And as bbuttner statedabove, it dropped back down to 30Mbps/5Mbps around April 11. I have a D3 modem and the 105Meg bootfile, so there's no technical issue; it's clear that my Internet performance was restricted (again) at the headend provisioning office in Scotts Valley.  It seems every Comcast representative, (Customer Service, Technician, Sales Rep, etc.) has a different explanation as to why Santa Cruz County lags behind other areas of California and the nation. But a little research reveals that Comcast is likely waiting until the merger with Time-Warner Cable has been approved by the federal regulators; a deal in which there will be an exchange of territories between Comcast and Charter Cable that includes local areas such as Capitola and Watsonville. This exchange is intended to enable greater geographic efficiencies for the two companies - in other words, investing in these areas will be more profitable because each company will have a higher density of customers/potential customers.  What I've learned is that Comcast is delaying an upgrade of head end equipment and distribution infrastructure totaling approximately $27M until the local market is potentially more lucrative. One Comcast rep states that this upgrade could take up to another 18 months for residential customers. So despite the fact that Comcast continues to lure new Santa Cruz county customers with the promise of up to 105Mbps/10Mbps (http://www.comcast.com/locations/internet-service/california/santa-cruz.html), those customers continue to pay for a service that Comcast is only providing in half measure. Perhaps we should contact Charlie Herrin, EVP, Comcast Customer Experience, or Eric Schaefer, SVP/GM Comcast Data & Mobility Solutions to voice our concerns ..?  It will be a year this summer that we've been continuously charged for 105bps/10Mbps service in an area that doesn't support it without any prorated charge or refund credits for the cost difference between what we're paying and the rate for 25Mbps/5Mbps service.

When will Adobe Reader for Mobile Devices support 3D PDF files?

There are two basic varieties of LiveCycle XFA...Static XFA and Dynamic XFA, which are very different in terms of their future for potential support in Adobe Reader for iOS. Which variety of XFA are you using?
Static XFA uses the PDF markup language for content and form fields, so users can view the documents in Adobe Reader for iOS, but we currently do not properly handle filling, saving, and submitting those forms. I have improving our handling of Static XFA on my roadmap, but cannot offer any specific date yet (sorry, policy plus actual uncertainty). I know that there are some other apps that partially support Static XFA, though I do not know how complete their support is. If you can even open the XFA document in Adobe Reader for iOS, it is likely Static XFA.
Dynamic XFA is effectively a JavaScript application packaged inside a PDF wrapper, which generates layout and form fields via code and requires a significant engine to support this. Support for Dynamic XFA is unfortunately not currently on our roadmap for iOS due to the nature of the technology, and our concern that any implementation we try likely will not pass Apple's restriction against installing something that allows other "apps" to be downloaded and executed from within it. The LiveCycle team is exploring solutions for our enterprise customers wanting to use Dynamic XFA from mobile devices as part of their server offering, but I cannot offer any insight here. To my knowledge, there are no applications that handle Dynamic XFA other than Adobe Reader for the desktop platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux).

  • When will Siri provide mapping capability in Canada.

When will Siri provide mapping capability in Canada. Apple overlooked us when they pitched Siri as a significant upgrades to 4s, but neglected to make it fully functional in Canada. Does anyone have an update on if/when this will be corrected?

Currently, location based functions for Siri are only available in the U.S. Apple has not yet announced when they will be available elsewhere. Keep in mind the Siri is still in beta.
    Best of luck.

  • When will aperture provide RAW support for Olympus EM-5

I have the new Olympus OM-D EM-5 and I cannot get Aperture to read the RAW files....when will a software upgrade be availble?

If the camera is not listed here Mac OS X v10.6: Supported digital camera RAW formats
then Aperture does not support it as this time.
When it will be supported no one here can say, we're all just users here like you. Apple never releases this information before hand.
You can let them know you want the camera supported by going to Aperture->Provide Aperture Feedback.

  • HT201071 When will the Sony DSC RX10  be supported?

The Sony DSC RX10 has been available for many months now. When will RAW support for Aperture be available?

I  don't mean this to be a smart type answer, but you can try asking Sony. When Sony provides the information to Apple, Apple will release it.

  • When will Adobe Flash Builder 4.6 support iOS 5.1 and the retina display?

I have installed Adobe Flash Builder 4.6 along with the Adobe AIR 3.3 SDK and am understanding that there isn't support for iOS 5.1 nor the Retina display devices, is this correct?  If so, when will this be available?  If not, what is a good workaround?
    Thanks,
    N.M.

note sure if I'm much help other than to CONFIRM it is working for me by using the sdk WITHOUT the compiler. Check out adobe's little note: "Note : Flex users will need to download the original AIR SDK without the new compiler."
I am using FB 4.7 with AIR 3.6 and seems to compile correctly for iOS.
    Maybe try reinstalling flash builder?
I honestly don't know if the JRE has anything to do with it... I'm using 1.7 ....to see what JRE you're using, open the Java Control Panel (I right click my java orange icon and hit properties), select the Java tab, then hit "View..."

  • When will the retina display resolution be supported?

    Hello,
I got a new ipod touch 4th generation and everyones app looks great except for mine. Everything is jaggy. When will I be able to see my app in high resolution? Will flash be fast enough?

Maybe I should have asked "will the retina display resolution ever be supported?"

  • When will LR - have 5.4 now - support Panasonic DMC-GH4... need ASAP Please

When will Adobe Lightroom have support for the Panasonic DMC-GH4. Really need it bad, and looking over the net I see I'm not alone in the NEED. Thanks!

There is already a Photoshop ACR 8.5 plug-in public release-candidate (RC) that supports the GH4 preliminarily, meaning something might change before the final release.
That RC expires the end of July, so that would be a good indication that LR would support it before then, too, since the final ACR plug-in and final corresponding LR are usually released at the same time.
In the past there has been a LR RC and a ACR plug-in RC available about the same time.  However for LR 5.4, with the addition of LR mobile that Adobe didn’t want to give away anything about, they didn’t release a beta LR, and it looks like that may happen again, since the RC for ACR plug-in has come out, but no RC for LR.
The other thing to consider, is that there is a CC 2014 Live Event on June 18, less than a week from now, that may unveil something that affects the timing of the next PS-CC/ACR and/or LR.  I don’t know so I’m just speculating.  Here is an article about the announcement:
    http://prodesigntools.com/new-adobe-cc-2014-release.html
In other words, Adobe does support the camera internally and it’s just a question of release timing due to product interdependencies and marketing schedules.

  • When will Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 support be added?

Per Qualcomm's website the Snapdragon 801 CPU the Verizon S5 is equipped with supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0, which gives the phone the same quick recharge capability as the Droid Turbo. However in my own testing, QC2.0 doesn't work with the Verizon S5. When will this support be added?

        jdrch,
We want you to take full advantage of the features of this device. The feature you are mentioning is something that we currently do not support. I would reach out to Qualcomm for any further information about their claims. Samsung, the manufacturer of this device, may also be a resource you may want to explore.

  • When will Adobe release the update to support Nikon Df raw/NEF file?

when will Adobe release the Lightroom update to support Nikon Df raw/NEF file?

In the mean time, or if it doesn't make it into LR 5.3 and you like techy stuff, see http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/52616096 for how to patch the exif of Df NEFs to look like D4 NEFs, as the presumption is that the sensor is identical.
Warning: take note of the advice in that thread to make backups of your NEFs first.  Second warning: read the whole thread.  In the first post he says Exiftool when he means Exifchanger.

  • When will Aperture provide RAW support for the Nikon D4s?

Just got my D4s and can't work with the RAW files in Aperture 3 ... It says 'incompatible file format'...

Wait and see, the currently available raw support is here.
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html
    iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5)
But even, when the raw supoort for your new camera will have been released, it will probably only be available for you, if you upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and at least Aperture 3.4.5. The most recent Digital Camera Raw Support releases have all been released for these versions only:  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1734
Give Apple a little time to do a decent job with the raw support. Your new camera is particularly challenging with the high ISO sensor and the excellent low light sensitivity (ISO 409,600). You will want that the raw support can deal with these new features properly. Last year we have seen quite a few threads with complaints about strange blueish or pink colors on raw images taken in low light for new Nikon and Canon cameras.

  • ITunes 11.1.4 will not install properly - windows 8.1, 64 bit.  My only way to recover is to restore my system.  iTunes 11.1.3.8 functions properly.  When will Apply provide a workable update?

iTunes 11.1.4 will not install properly - windows 8.1, 64 bit.  The only way I have found to recover is to restore my system.  I have unistalled/reintalled iTunes two times.  No success.  iTunes 11.1.3.8 functions properly (following system restore).  When is Apply expected to provide a workable update?

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?
If you still have the same error messages cropping up, then try the procedures from the following user tip:

  • When will Photoshop Touch be updated to support the new iPad (3)?

Since the screen is now greater than HD and the camera has just been enhanced to 5 MP, PS Touch should be updated to support pictures larger than 1600 x 1600 as quickly as possible as well as adding direct support for the Retina screen. Otherwise it will look fuzzy and seem underpowered for the device going forward. Any estimate on what date this much-needed update will be released?

    Hi Plossi,
I don't have an iPad3 myself but I have heard from others that PS Touch looks and runs great on it. Adobe will continue to release updates to PS Touch to make the app better and take advantage of the latest hardware (including iPad3). It's not possible to provide dates around any future releases though. Larger image support is a very common request. Please add your vote here is you haven't already.
