When will Dreamweaver work on Macs?
So DW CS3 runs badly on Macs when 'Display External Files' is
ticked.
I hear Adobe are trying to fix it. Does anyone know when it
will be fixed? It seems pretty fundamental - and you'd think they'd
have sorted this when testing the program before launching it.

I have not seen such a problem with CS3 on my Mac. Nor have I
heard of any
bug report regarding this.

I have a licensed copy of Adobe Acrobat X Pro for Windows. I recently switched over to MAC OS and would like to move my Adobe X Pro over but the CD will not work for Mac OS? Can anyone assist me with this conversion?

James.you cannot use your pc license to install on a mac. you would need a separate license (and serial number) for that.
adobe allows platform swaps, but only with the latest (xi) version, Order product | Platform, language swap
your option to use acrobat on a mac are to upgrade to acrobat pro xi and change platforms, use a windows emulator (parallels/boot camp etc) on your mac or swap with a third party. -

when will iCloud work with outlook 2013?
I have been running Outlook 2013 for a couple of weeks now using W8 64bit.
It works with iCloud and is a little flakey, what I've found.
1. 4 X Junk Folders.
2. Some emails cannot be moved into saved folder, saying message has changed, but opening in outlook safe
mode allows move.
3. Sent Items (this computer only) and Sent Messages, so you have to move emails from Sent Items to Sent
Messages if you want them to sync across devices.
4. Icloud control panel say's there is a problem and not syncing but it is no problem.
I can live with the bugs, but I wish the last icloud update would have corrected the issues. -
CS 5. Will it work with Mac OS 10.10.1?
Will it work with Mac OS 10.10.1? If not what is the latest version of Mac OS it would work correctly with?
The most recent version of the Mac OS is 10.10.1 (Yosemite). Do not wish to update if it will affect my ability to use CS 5.

TS3367 Mac to Mac facetime will not work, but Mac to phone will...???
I cannot make a facetime call from my mac to another mac. The following scenarios have worked however:
My Mac to another phone
My Mac to an ipad
My phone to another phone and ipad
My ipad to another phone and ipad
Another persons phone to my phone
Another persons Mac to my phone
Basically every possible combination of facetime calls have been made, except for the Mac to Mac call. Now I have tried shutting my phone off before the other person called me and when they then proceeded to call me on thier end it said that the call could not be completed. I have used different contacts such as the phone number and various email addresses and for some reason the Mac to Mac call will never work. Any insight?Hello DFanelli,

Epubs from InDesign. When will they work?
Dear All,
More of an observation, than a question.
All our books are now on epub format, and we are discontinuing paper books. Paper is too much trouble, and epub sales are doing well.
However - and it is a big however.
We are using an epub translating company, because InDesign will not output complex epubs, and we do not understand epubs. But we are losing control of the quality of the books, because we are having to edit and make changes with some guy in India who does not understand book layouts or what we are trying to do. Thus everything is two steps forwards, and one step back, just to get a simple change done.
So when will InDesign be able to output complex epubs? (ie, different fonts, load of images, lots of in-line hieroglyphs, videos, audios etc: etc:) And I don't mean outputting by: check this, change that, do this, change this HTML to that HTML --- I mean "click for epub output" the same as I "click for a PDF output". Done, instant.
I give Adobe due warning here. The first company that comes out with a publishing suite that will output complex epubs, we will change to them in an instant. We have been with Adobe for 20 years, but we cannot go on editing books 5,000 miles away, it is like editing with boxing gloves on. You cannot even highlight an error in 'paragraph three on page 487' - BECAUSE THERE ARE NO PAGES. (Grrrr)
Come on, Adobe. Do something, or InDesign will only have three customers in five years time.

Yes, and if Apple and Kindle had chosed PDFs as the standard file type for ebooks, there would be no problems. We can control the layout of a PDF through InDesign, and the iPad will display a PDF book exactly as we design it - INCLUDING ALL OUR STRANGE FONTS AND HIEROGLYPS. A pdf is the perfect solution, and there is only one small problem with this ebook Nirvana - both Apple and Kindle will not sell straight PDFs.....
As an aside, why the hell cannot epub display strange fonts, when pdf can? Why is this basic function such an insurmountable problem?

We don't care if epubs are flowable or resizeable (PDFs are also rezieable, you just increase the magnification). In fact, a well-made epub book is quite a good platform for reading books (except it is crap at tabbing and tables).
What we do care about, is that if I say to InDesign - 'make epub' - it will not translate Greek or Hebrew fonts, it sticks the hieroglips from chapter 3 into chapter 4, it puts page numbers into a flowable text, it cannot understand indents, tables or italisation, it left justifies center justified text, and then to add insult to injury it center justifies left justified text. It cannot understand superscript references, it will not link to references to the references section, it cannot flow text around images, all the images are the wrong size, it does not even realise that you have cropped an image, and it turns bold text into underline text.
In short, the epub translator within InDesign (and most other packages) is a joke. If epub translation worked (and I have to say that most of these errors are easily fixable) we would have no problem with epub as the industry standard for ebooks. But at present, it looks like the major tablet producers have chosen the turkey (epub) instead of the eagle (pdf). Just because Kindle chose a reflowable text, to fit on its microscopic tablet, why did Apple follow suit? An iPad will easily display a 234 x 156 pdf page (royal format), in all its glory. -

Will proc_listpidspath() work in Mac 10.4.10 .
I found the function proc_listpidspath() in libproc.h of MacOSX10.5.sdk/usr/include/ .
It helped me to find out whether a file is opened by any application or not.
But, libproc.h is not available in MacOSX10.4u.sdk .
I want to know whether proc_listpidspath() will work in Mac OS X 10.4.10 .

Can anyone recommend a printer which will actually work with mac 10.4.11 ?
Hi all! I have had problems getting a printer which will actually work with my macbook 10.4.11. I've tried HP deskjet f4180 (supposed to be compatible) and various lexmarks (no compatible software). Apple and hp, and my local curry's have not been able to assure me which printer will DEFINATELY work. I just wanted to hear from other Mac users with 10.4.11, if they had actually been able to find a printer which works properly. Would be greatful for any recommendations of printer's which are actually compatible with the updated tiger 10.4.11

Crazynow!!I read your previous posts, but had just upgraded to 10.4.11 & hadn't check my printers. All 3 of these work: Apple laserwriter 360, Brother HL 1440, and Brother MFC 7820N. I print to all of these wirelessly via airport.

I bought a refurb mini 1.83 dual core 2 last week it has leopard installed, but no superdrive I have an external dvd rw via USB2 will this work with Leopard I dont have any drivers for it(BUT ITS MAC COMPATABLE), but after reading some questions in this forum I am lead to believe it will just work...is this truue? also will it work with Idvd ?

BRAND NEW MAC USER !Without knowing the make and model of the drive it's impossible to tell for sure if it will work, but more than likely it will if the drive is claimed to be Mac compatible. You may need to download the free utility 'Patchburn' from http://www.patchburn.de/ because some drives require it. Try if without first however, and you may find that the drive works natively in the Finder and iDVD. If not, install Patchburn and test it out.
