When will Firefox no longer allow plugins (like Silverlight)?

Chrome recently published a new release that disables plugins by default. In September, they will release an update that will disallow plugins altogether. What are your plans for disallowing plugins in the future?

There are no plans for now. Plugin support will continue for the time being. we are working on making viable alternatives to plugins, so users don't need to use them, but we will support existing plugins for sometime.

I don't think you will see that in Firefox 5.
There has been an enhancement request for this since 2006, it has received some attention earlier this year but there is no sign of it being implemented just yet.

Like, since Firefox 11 the HTML5 support hasn't gone up a bit. Like it supports 345 points. As when even Opera and Safari bulldozed Firefox with a 376 and 385 pointer. Then Chrome FLATTENED Firefox, with a 437 points. And even Internet Explorer is chasing Firefox like a cat and a mouse, with 319 points and counting. Like WHEN, will Firefox actually put some more effort into building their HTML5 support?

There is always work going on on increasing our support of the HTML5 standard. For example, from Firefox 14.0.1 to Firefox 17 (still in development, the HTML5Test has gone from 345 to 383. The HTML5 standard is still evolving, and work is always being done. However, this isn't the best place to discuss this. Apple requires all web browsers in ios to use it's web browser framework. Apple has done most of the work for writing a web browser app. That is why you see so many web browsers in ios. Firefox doesn't use this framework on the Mac. It would have to toss much of the firefox code and replace it with Apple's framework.

I dont know about the plans Mozilla are making for that but i can surely tell you that you can try fixing your RAM issue, and somehow the Android app of Firefox will be able to run. It actually should run, unless you have all sorts of stuff already running on the phone. Good Luck!

Due to security vulnerabilities, rolling back to Firefox 4.0.1 is not recommended. Firefox 3.6.18 would be the safer choice.
Here's the process to roll back:

You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.

I have an iMac desktop Operating System version 10.7.5.
Current Firefox Version 26 allows me to use AOL toolbar.
When I went to download / install updated Firefox version 27.1, message that appeared
said this version was incompatible with AOL toolbar.
Installation could only be complete if I disabled AOL toolbar which is NOT an option.
Please advise when this Firefox version 27.1 incompability issue will be fixed.

The message likely said it was the toolbar that was not compatible with Firefox 27.0.1. It is up to the Extension authors to make their Extension compatible with Firefox not the other way.
Unless the Extension is ties with a application with a binary like with Antivirus toolbars, the majority of Extensions that have been compatible since say Firefox 10.0 should still work for example.
Have you checked for updates for this Aol toolbar extension?

I use Mozilla Firefox as my primary web browser, it's excellent in almost every aspect except, it consumes too much ram.
Sometimes/most it eats up to 200-300 MB and it's not acceptable, will Firefox receive an update which will stop from eating so much ram?
I've looked for the tweaking to do in "about:config" it hasn't lower it down than the normal and also "Firefox Optimizer" it tells the user that it's consuming 400kb's but it's not true, only hiding the real facts.
As a everyday user of Firefox browser, I really want my number one browser to not be slow nor eat my ram!

Even in safe mode, Firefox 4 takes over 1500 megs of virtual memory and 800 megs shared. This is on a laptop with 2G ram, so it's almost half of actually consumed memory. I have a lot of tabs hidden behind Panorama, but those are not in active use so I'd prefer them not to be loaded at all at startup, only when I try to access them.
