When Will iMovie Support AVCHD Progressive?

From Wikipedia: "In 2010 Panasonic introduced a new lineup of consumer AVCHD camcorders with 1080-line 50p/60p progressive-scan mode. In 2011 this mode was officially included into the AVCHD specification as part of 2.0 addendum and has been called AVCHD Progressive."
So... is it likely that iMovie will support AVCHD Progressive in the future? I ask because I have a 2012 AVCHD Progressive camcorder, but am considering returning it because iMovie doesn't support a format introduced 2 years ago.

FinalCut/express 3.5 didn't support 'AVCHDlite' - but with a simple 'transplantation' of some parts of iM08 it was possible to teach this 'non standard'-codec to FC/e. AVCHD v1 supports only 1080/24p. 25p/30/50p/60p is v2.
I dare to say, due to sheer popularity, AVCHD v2 will find its way to QT/AVF ...

When will iMovie support 60p?

The 60p question seems to be a popular one here and I can't understand why Apple would force people to buy 3rd party software just so that they can import and edit the highest quality video on iMovie. It seems that many (most?) new cameras shoot in 60p, so can we expect Apple to be...Apple...and make video editing easy again on iMovie? In general, I love the ease of operation with Apple, and this is the first time I've been a bit stumped.
I just purchased a Sony NEX-5N and want to shoot/edit simple videos, but don't want to sacrifice quality. I've seen different threads suggesting various $$ 3rd party software to wrap (or re-wrap), but I'm a Mac user, not a programmer. So, while I wait for Apple to make this simple...which format should I record in for highest quality video and easiest editing? Here are my options (of course, I don't even know what PS, FX, FH mean):
AVCHD:
PS - 1920 x 1080/60p (or 50p)@28Mbps
FX - 1920 x 1080/60i (or 50i)@24Mbps
FH - 1920 x 1080/60i (or 50i)@17Mbps
FX - 1920 x 1080/24p@24Mbps
FH - 1920 x 1080/24p@17Mbps
MP4:
HD - 1440 x 1080/30p@12Mbps
VGA - 640 x 480/30p@3Mbps
If a video expert can help to offer a suggestion (and/or explain what PS, FX and FH mean), it'd be greatly appreciated.

iMovie can handle 24P, but for most cameras, this is done by using 108060i and pulling it down to 24P.
I suggest you try it and see if you like it. It would probably work best for viewing on Computer or Internet rather than a TV, where it would have to be reverse pulled-down (pulled up?) to 60i.
By pull down, I mean taking 3 fields, then 2, then 3, then 2, to make it work out to 24.
60i is not 60 frames per second like 60P. It is 30 frames per second with 2 fields per frame. Each field is half the pixels in a full frame.

Premiere Pro CS4 is not supporting TC(timecode) for the AVCHD format. Mean that all clip is starting at 00:00:00:00 and not the recordet TC!

submit a feature request because this is a huge time waster. I asked tech support for this in October '08
The only thing I can suggest is that, if you can export the data or otherwise access it, you can manually attach it to each clip using File\Timecode. Be sure to use different tape numbers for different days/cameras.

No one who knows can say and no one who says knows. I’d GUESS it’ll be before the end of November, around the time Canon releases the 7D Mark II which has already been announced by has a ship date sometime in November according to B&H.
While you’re waiting, you can download the DNG Converter 8.7 RC from Adobe Labs, and convert your NEFs to DNGs and import those DNGs into LR. The DNGC is in the CS6 branch of the ACR 8.7 download, here:

Adobe rarely comments publically about future support; however, a new camera is usually supported in the next version of Adobe software. LR comes out every 3 or 4 months and LR 5.4 was released April 7, with a beta a few weeks before then, I’d guess it won’t be too much longer, unless there is some special problem with GH4 support.
The betas are available on http://labs.adobe.com/ so that is the first place to periodically check.
With LR 5.4 there wasn’t a public beta (release candidate) due to the newly added Lightroom Mobile feature that Adobe wanted to keep secret until it was actually for sale.

To everyone asking me for advise as a Pro photographer.
Apple attitude on this issue is of abandonement and ignorance of users needs.
Unfortunately, the feeling is that this is going to be the permanent standard.
They are not providing translations, not providing support to models such as X-Pro1 that has received inmediate reaction from major developers, neither do care for users that openly claim for RAW support for an extended model as X-10.
This is somehow another sign of apple arrogance in term of market predominant coompany.
If Apple do not begin to lose sales and an importan market share this is going to be worse and worse.
Best way: Ignore Aperture.
Adobe is nowadays the ONLY option for photographers.
I don't like Lightroom so I must select my shots with Photo Mechanic, or Xnview and then go to photoshop.
Sick of Apple.

When will Apple Support Ultraviolet Digital Copies?

This is something of a cross post for iPad & iPhone, but I won't be cross posting it as they can be a bit annoying.
I'm a huge fan of digital copies, wasn't once, but now am. Having digital copies is something that does factor into me deciding when to buy a film on Blu-Ray and when to wait.
The new thing that is being pushed now is Ultraviolet, a quasi-cloud type service, for digital copies. However it can only be used by a select few devices; Mac (and even Windows) don't support it. Personally I prefer the standard digital copy, I maintain my library, back it up when I make new purchases and save my recipets in case anything happens. And of course a big reason I prefer it is because I won't be hopping between two services for them.
My question is when will Apple support Ultraviolet Digital Copies? Or will there be an alternative where the Blu-Ray will include a code for a traditional digital copy that if used will void the UV copy and vice-versa?
I would personally prefer an alternative as I'd hate managing two accounts to handle my digital copies.

PSE 12 with updates or PSE 13 should support the Canon 70D.
Which version do you have and which operating system are you running on?
If you have an older version of PSE, you could use the DNG converter to convert the CR2 files to DNG files - then you can use the DNG files in PSE.
