When will it be possibly to e-print ODT-files?

I have just got a Photosmart Plus B210 and there was no problems when I emailed a .doc-document. I made my document in Open Office and saved it as a .doc-file and attached the file to the mail and send it. It was e-printed perfect. But when I attached an .odt-file the mail was not printed. I have seen an user have had the same question for an year a go, so now I ask: When will it be possibly to e-print ODT-files?

Two years later, still no support for Open Document Format?
Usually, I would agree that it's no problem to print an ODT document simply by opening it in LibreOffice and exporting it as a PDF which is support by eprint. But what do you think about this:
You are sitting in a train or metro and your smartphone informs you about an incoming mail: a collegue sends you an ODT document that you'd like to have on paper - if nothing else because your smartphone can't handle ODT files. The best solution would be to forward that email to the eprint service of your printer. But d'oh! Eprint doesn't support ODT! So you will have to wait, till you are at home, switch on your PC and start LibreOffice etc...
Especially if it's a large document, it will be really comfortable to have the document printed as soon as you arrive at home. (And so on - we all know the great advantages of eprint.)
Please include ODT as supported format!
(I posted the same message here: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/ePrint-Print-Apps-Mobile/Open-office/m-p/1826037#M26803 In order to draw the support team's attention to this topic I finally decided to revive both threads. This one is younger and the other thread was at least once answered by an HP employee...)

When will it be possible to repeat reminders in iCal?
(As it is possible in the reminders iPhone app already.)

    Greetings,
Interesting question.  No one here would know that (or be able to talk about it if they did).  Reminders will have a new home in Mountain Lion so I guess we'll see: http://www.apple.com/macosx/mountain-lion/features.html#reminders
If you want to see this feature, be sure to submit feedback: http://www.apple.com/feedback/ical.html
    Cheers.

When will LR3 be updated to support D600 RAW files?

When? I believe the answer is that it will NOT be updated to support D600 RAW files.
To use D600 with LR3, you will have to download and use the free Adobe DNG Converter. However, I don't think the most current version handles D600 RAWs, so you will have to be patient on this. According to one knowledgeable source, the update will be available soon.
Or you can upgrade to LR4, and at some point in the future (allegedly "soon") it will be able to handle D600 RAW files.

Yes, it closes down whenever I perform those tasks, making me unable to export or print a file. I always need to reopen the Indesign and this thing keeps on happening. Please help. I don't know what to do with this.

I think exporting to IDML only works for some errors. I had an Indesign error 4 recently and it didn't work for that - in fact I had to recreate the whole document. There is a file recovery service though at the following url but unfortunately you have to pay a fee:
    http://markzware.com/support/faq/recover-bad-file-service/
Alternatively, you could try resetting your Indesign preferences.
My knowledge is quite limited when it comes to reading the crash code that you posted - perhaps someone-else on the forums may be able to be of more help.

  • When will my iPad be enabled to play flash files???

When will Apple enable flash files to play on the iPad?

Adobe recently announced that it will stop development of all versions of flash for portable devices. Since there is no flash reader from Adobe for the iPad/iPod/iPhone, there won't be any in the future.

  • When will it be possible to plug in a bass guitar for garageband on iPad and mac?

I've been wondering for some time now when it will be possible for me to plug in my bass guitar in to my macbook pro or my ipad and have garageband support bass guitar. Not everyone plays guitars and pianos. It'll be nice to have more instruments to play with.

When a developer or several find the time to fix it. You can keep an eye on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=472448 and https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431076 for current status.

  • When will it be possible to navigate in the Calendar's big and small day panes with the arrow keys and PgUp/Dwn?

Since I have difficulties working with the mouse (as a lot of people have), it would be nice if I can use the keyboard for as much as possible when working with applications on the computer. I frequently use Tab, Ctrl-Tab, PgUp/Dwn, Alt-<menu-item or key-to-accomplish-something> etc. Lightning could be more user friendly in that respect.
This way of designing the user interface should, in my opinion, be applied as much as possible. And it shouldn't interfere with - but complement - other ways of navigating in applications, such as by the mouse, scroll bars etc.

  • Apple: When will it be possible to use Airport Express to stream images (from program/video/photo) from my IMAC to my TV?

Would like so see a future when I don't have to plug in my laptop to my TV every time I want to se a picture !! My IMac is my mainframe the laptop is a smartdrive with a screen :-)

  • When will it be possible to RECEIVE SMS messages t...

I have read thousands of unhappy users about that !!!
Thanks to SKYPE to solve this asap...

Well, Here in the Skype for SIP world, I don't know that a "SMS Messaging" feature will be implamented in the near future.
Online Numbers are just like the numbers in your office. There is not SMS there either. The only SMS currently available is in Skype Client software.
You might want to quire manufacturers like Avaya, Grandstream, 3CX, or Shoretel for more information on this feature.  They are always coming up with new features to implament on their sets and would have more information for you.
I hope this helps you in your search.

  • When will it be possible to SAVE a TRIMMED video in iPhoto?

I have many videos, most of them pretty long, they are all trimmed by now, but not yet SAVED. Please enable !

What version of iPhoto area your running.  Also what system are you using?
With iPhoto 9.5.1 I'm able to trim a movie file in iPhoto and export it out via File ➙ Export ➙ File Export  with Kind = Current and get the trimmed version.  So give the export a try as Current to see if that works for you.

  • When will we get better handling of Fuji raw files?

Why is it that Fuji raw files (I'm using a Fuji X-T1 camera) are treated so badly in Lightroom? I have just tried Irident Developer and just exporting random photo of my son with default settings in Irident got me a vastly better result than I able to get from Lightroom.

    Joergen,
I was quite concerned myself when reading some of the posts about LR processing X-trans files, even after the fix done in LR 4.4 (Adobe's Fujifilm X-Trans sensor processing tested: Digital Photography Review)
What I noticed though, is that the articles with "comparisons" are biased and usually talk about "detail" and trying to "fix" it to no avail. My experience with every single raw file available was, however,  that it is possible to do a much better job with LR than what the articles present, leading me to think that the authors are either clueless or marketing agents in disguise.
Moreover, some of the files that are presented as "better" are in fact quite over-sharpened showing an obviously digital result.
My recommendation is to try and see with your own eyes. I was able to test the packages using trial periods and finally ended up sticking to LR for the overall way it handles the images.
Here go a couple of raw files for you to try:
    Dropbox - DSCF2432.RAF
    Dropbox - DSCF2425.RAF
100% comparisons between LR (PROVIA profile) and OOC jpg (PROVIA Film Simulation):
    1.A                                                              2.B
    2.A                                                                                                   2.B
    Any preference?
1.A and 2.A are the Raw files processed with LR. 1.B and 2.B are OOC JPG, PROVIA

  • When will adding an exteranl HDD be available?

I have a Motoorola 7216 DVR. I know that at the present time, addng an external HDD for increased recording time is not possible. My question is, when will it be possible to do this? Will we have to exchange our DVR's for a new one or will the ones we have now be upgradable?

    Elandow wrote:
Okay after reading on THEIR website that you can upgrade the 7216 DVR with certain models of Western Digital Hard drives I am here to tell you that it's NOT possible at this time. I checked and we have the old firmware 1.8 on this box. And it doesn't sound like they will be getting the 1.9 firmware anytime soon because they can charge users $40.00 to get the newer box 7232 that does work (supposedly). Spent a lot of time and money finding this out, so regardless of the conflicting messages on the board and their FAQ's  ( http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/FiOSTV/Other+Hardware/eSATA/129841.htm ) it doesn't work. Nor do I believe they will change it, they are NOT concerned about customer service and/or satisfaction! It's too bad, if they were competitive, I imagine they could make more money.

    Your statements/assumptions are incorrect.
    1) You will not be able to use an external hard drive on a 7216 until you get the 1.9 level. When you do get it, you will be able to use the drive.
    2) You will not be able to use an external hard drive on a 7232 until you get the 1.9 level. When you do get it, you will be able to use the drive.
    3) Right in the link you provided in your post it says:
"Is eSATA external storage available in my area?
Verizon is currently deploying eSATA nationally and expects the process to continue throughout the summer.
You can determine if eSATA is enabled where you live by checking the On Screen Channel Guide (System Information under Menu/Customer Support). If you have IMG 1.9 or higher, you can install a recommended eSATA device."
I don't see how Verizon could say it any clearer. Maybe you should try to read more carefully.
The $40 fee has absolutely nothing to do with using an external drive.

  • Print to File:  Removing white border

I have a lot of issues going on here.  I'm sure that a lot of my problems are a result of my lack of understanding of file size and print resolution.  I'm a newbie to printing with Lightroom, and, to be frank, a newbie to printing in general because I've never understood the terminology and technical aspects.  (Reading articles about dpi, ppi, image size, and resolution is a VERY difficult undertaking.  There is conflicting information, and it's hard to find someone who can explain it in easy to understand terms.)
I print at Costco, and I use their printer settings.  As far as I can tell, the only way to embed the printer profile in an image is to print to file.  What I would prefer is to save my image as a .jpg and upload it to Costco.
When I set up a photo for print to file, Lightroom places a white border around it because it's trying to arrange my photo on the printer paper.  Even when I change the Print Job to print to .jpg, it does this.  The only way to get around this is to check "custom file dimension" under print job, and then select a size.  Then, under layout, I'm able to set the margins to zero and the cell sizes to the dimensions of the photo I'm going to print.
I notice that when I use a custom file dimenstion, the size of the image changes.  If I choose 8 x 10, it chooses a file size about the same as the original image (8mb).  If I'm printing a poster, 20 x 30, it creates a huge 27mb file.  At first, I thought I could just use ratios, such as 2 x 3, but it seems like that would shrink the photo down to such a small extent that it would be pixelly.
And how is all this affected by resolution?  If I choose 300 ppi how is that affected by whether an image is printed 5 x 7, 8 x 10, or 20 x 30.
Before using lighroom, I simply croppoed a photo, added the printer profile, saved it, and uploaded it.  I do not understand why Lightroom is making me choose the paper size.

How you are getting rid of the border is pretty much the way to do it -- you can save this layout as a preset for next time.  However, as far as printing to JPEG for printing at a service, I just use the regular export dialogue.  Unless you are printing 8x10s with some custom layout of multiple files (e.g., you could print a number of little wallet-size photos, and then cut them out yourself) and don't need the features the print module gives you, this is just easier. But exporting a JPEG from the regular export makes borderless print-ready images if you select the right options.
DPI/PPI can be a confusing subject, but there are tools on the internet that allow you to calculate the number of pixels you need to clearly print at certain sizes.  Honestly, for most of us not doing fine prints (and given you are sending these to Costco, I'm assuming this is not the case) just do 240 or 300 for 4x6s and 5x7s, increase this to 600 for 8x10 and similar sizes, and go to 1200 or 2400 when you step up to the really large sizes. Remember, the larger the print, the further back you stand to get the whole thing, so at some point resolution becomes less important.
You can probably export at less than 100% quality and get very good results.  There is an article out there that discusses JPEG quality and file size in Lr, which is different than Photoshop. The upshot is that you get very good results at around the 85-90% range.  This, of course, depends on the information in the image.  You also want to strip most of the metadata from the file. This can account for a large amount of room in the file.
Find out if your service expects sRGB or can accept AdobeRGB (surprisingly, a lot of photo kiosk prefer AdobeRGB) and then you can get your colours closer to what you expect.
Ideally, you want to export at the size you expect to print at. Lr will optimize the sharpening and so on based on the target file dimensions along with the resolution, and you will just get better, sharper results. You will want to crop to the right ratios, too, so that the target dimension makes sense. Lr will never try to distort your image to fit certain dimensions, so some creative sampling will occur, otherwise.
Lr is actually one of the easiest apps I've ever used for getting images print-ready.  Between the sharpening, the white and black points (because blow-outs in print look terrible) and so on, it is easy to get pretty good results as amateur.  You do have to decide the dimensions and resolution, though, in order for Lr to make the right choices when rendering the final JPEG.
