When will Leopard and CS3 be compatible?

The Adobe Creative Suite forum for Macintosh has this question posted - as you might imagine, it's very close to the top of that forum's list of threads.
In the thread "When will Leopard and CS3 be compatible?" the Adobe Tech Rep Dov Isaacs, Principal Scientist, Publishing Technologies & Services Group, Adobe Systems Inc., says that the only solution is to wait for Apple to fix Leopard possibly via 10.5.3 or, wait until 10.6. He recommends that Tiger users who need CS3 not upgrade to Leopard until Apple makes their new operating system compatible with CS3. He says that there are no work-around's now or planned by Adobe.
So when will Apple address this - anyone know?

In the discussion referred to by the OP, an Adobe rep (cited above) says that the last update to Acrobat fixed its main issues (that the leopardsupport.pdf says is needed). So, according to the PDF, all should now be well and good.
He also says in other posts, more or less, that 1) CS3 doesn't work properly under Leopard; 2) It's Apple's fault for breaking apps and releasing a "buggy" OS; 3) it may be fixed in 10.5.3 but don't hold your breath, they hope it's fixed in 10.6!
I use CS3...Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat...and haven't had any issues. I don't depend on them to make a living, though.
Reading the thread on the Adobe web site, I get the feeling that there is quite a bit of dissatisfaction with the OS X version of CS3 vis-a-vis Leopard, and at least one very senior Adobe guy is very publicly trashing Apple for it.
And people wonder why Apple doesn't comment for the record on pending fixes/releases/etc...

I have 8.1 and iTunes and its working. My cloud doesn't so I had to remove the 'sync contacts and calendar to the cloud' and to back to the old say, but I just synced my iPad and iPos (both running 7.0.3) last night and it worked.
There are features with 8.1 that may be messing things up. For example there's a setting when you upgrade to 8.1 where you can turn off the automatic install of drivers. With devices, every time the iOS and iTunes updates there is a new driver to make your device visible on a computer. If you turn off that auto install then you may have blocked your computer from getting that driver.
In addition, with iOS7 there came the 'do you trust this computer' which is a choice you have to make on your device. If you tell your device no, then it may have issues connecting to your computer.

When will Firefox and Roboform become compatible.

I keep seeing that my current version of Firefox will only be supported for a while longer and I also see that Roboform is not supported by the newer version of Firefox. This is a critical issue for me as I have dozens and dozens of login signatures. Why won't Firefox correct itself? Does anyone have a suggestion for correcting this and why is Firefox the only problem web browser with regard to Roboform?

Ask Roboform, it's not the role of Mozilla to fix third party application crashing Firefox. In addition, 3.6 will be EOL in April 2012, so the solution is to update to latest Firefox and Roboform versions.

When will Lightroom and Elements support the Nikon D600?

When will Lightroom and Elements support the Nikon D600? In the meantime is there a workaround so the D600 raw files can be exported to Lightroom or am I simply out of business until Adobe develops the needed patch?
As best as I have been able to figure out I may as well rebox the 600 and go back to my older, supported camera, until whenever.

A D90 with good glass.
Nikon 70-200 f2.8, Nikon 24-70 f2.8, Voigtlander 58 f1.4, Tokina 11-16 f2.8.
Now I need to get a good FF wide solution for the D600.
Trigger on the D600 is much more stiff than my D90 so I'm having to press down a bit harder to get the AF confirmation. Just need to get used to that I guess.
FYI, JPG files right out of the camera are looking good.

I had been using Apple's Aperture and switched to Lightroom a couple of months ago. I thought the price was actually quite fair for the power of the LR software. I did have to updgrade my computer's RAM....

We did enjoy some vino last night! I was thinking I would possibly jump ship to Sony A99 and just switch to all Zeiss glass with autofocus, but I'm not convinced that the EVF is for me, and I'm really not a video shooter, mostly just landscape and real estate. Also, I the Sony turned out to be priced a bit too high for me personally in comparision to the D600.

There's less money to be made from compatibility than there is from "forced upgrades." Why would AVID be concerned with their older product working with the new OS when they can release another version for people to pay $250+ for? Free bug-fix download vs. latest software upgrade? You've got two companies with virtual monopolies on the pro audio market. It's a win-win for them.
So what does that say to me about the handful that do not? The incompatibility is a marketing decision, not a shortcoming.
Am I close?

when will Photoshop elements become fully compatible with retina screen mac books, also why is when download elements is so large footprint of 3gigs.

hello jmoretti, mozilla is not responsible for the compatibility of third-party addons - so please contact garmins's support to find out if/when there's an update available for their product... though their website states that there's "No web browser required" for this product, so the stand-alone product will likely continue to work anyway (just the integration into firefox will be disabled).

Leopard and CS3 - Are they ready for prime time?

Trying to revive this thread, I manage 130 Macs at an art school and I am starting to research what I am going to do this summer as far as OS and CS versions. Currently we are on 10.4.9 and CS2 and about 15% of our Macs are Intels. I am concerned as I am not hearing good things about Leopard and I am wondering if CS3 is ready for prime time. I should note that stability is my first priority NOT the latest OS and App versions. So the question is are they ready for prime time or should I stay with CS2 and Tiger or should I go CS3 and Tiger.

Summer is a long way off, so hard to guess. I would say that if they don't have the kinks out by then, they probably never will, but still a gamble at this point IMO. I have one of the new Mac Pros (early 2008) w/CS3 Apps installed. I have been using all the below listed apps for the past two weeks without any major problems so far, but I also know that I may be living on the edge right now. I don't feel confident enough to switch to Leopard on my other two computers yet. My restarts on the new machine take about 30-seconds between selecting Restart and ready to start work again (vs about 1.5-2 minutes on my Dual G5). Apps like Photoshop CS3 launch in about 1/3 the time. But all of this speed means absolutely nothing when you slam into an incompatibility - that is the real time trap - I spent the last 8 hours doing nothing but tracking down a Permissions problem in Leopard that none of the utilities will currently fix.

I purchased the Silverfast Leopard upgrade ($105) to get the Epson 4870 scanner plugin to work with Photoshop CS3, but having problems - I think it is a Leopard problem
Adobe UPDATES menu item is dimmed out in all CS3 apps.
Having lots of Leopard User Permissions problems - hopefully 10.5.2 will help?

I couldn't see any mention of a CS3 version of Fireworks.
Anecdotal information is variable; some seem to have no problems, others found CS3 unusable, so it's difficult to be categorical for you. Certainly Adobe only consider CS4 and above to be fully compatible.

When will apple start announing ipad compatible external superdrives?

So, we will become able to watch dvds on an ipad and create dvds on an ipad then.

The preferred business model seems to be to stream, store and access content via the internet. thus accessing it via dvd doesn't quite fit into that. They wouldn't have spent so much money on iTunes if they had a plan for physical media.
As to making dvd's, video processing takes a LOT of processor power, more than an ipad can crank out. ANd why make physical copies when the internet and cloud storage can be used for data transfer?

When will Intel stop making 875 compatible cpus?

I wanted to know if anyone has any idea at what point Intel is gonna stop making processors that are not compatible with our 875 Neo boards. For example their newest and fastest cpu is the P4 3.2 EE and that is compatible but at what ghz will they no long be compatible. I just wanna know so I can kinda prepare for the future, and I am curious . Or is the limiting factor gonna be our boards? Like our boards wont handle FSB speeds that high...

Well the BIG question is ARE THEY(i875andi865) GOING to be able to support the PRESCOTT CORE?? At first all the MO-BO makers were saying YES!! But as of now it is prety much up in the AIR ..And it is INTEL that has to take the blame!! From what I understand it was INDEED INTEL that told the MO-BO makers that built BOARDS with the i875-i865 that the NEW PRESCOTT would be a shoe in as far as compatability is concerned ..Well now INTEL is having problems trying to get the new CORE to run with the current POWER SPEC.(the current 4-pin 12VOLT plug)...As they are finding it very difficult to do...But have FAITH!! I just got off the phone with a Senior Rep at Apple who clearly and concisely stated.
Apple iTunes 11 Does Not Support Windows 8.
He stated that there is currently nothing in the works to support Windows 8.
I installed and read the specifications requirements list which states that Windows 8 is supported.
I have Windows 8 Professional and have not been able to sync or back up my iPhone since installing Windows 8.
When will Apple actually address this?

This is a user support forum. We don't know what Apple will do when. iTunes 10.7 didn't cliam to support Windows 8. iTunes 11 does. If there are still outstanding issues with compatability for some people then these have to be found and workarounds put in place. I don't have Windows 8, but I gather for some people updating drivers (I don't know which) has fixed their problems.

When will the upgrade take place to be able to sync my notes to my iMac? And, when will tasks sync too? These are fairly basic functions for those who actually use their iPhone for professional purposes.

Thank you. Obviously, I am new at asking questions here. I appreciate the straight forward and honest response though. I suppose I should just be happy for what it does do for now. I have noticed that Microsoft seems to be a little too quick to try to please and releases applications that ultimately fail and frustrate. Once I personally lose confidence in something, it turns into a general lack of confidence pretty quickly. Building the trust back after that is quite a task if at all possible. So, perhaps, Apple's approach is better. I wouldn't want to admit that I have personally lost my ability to be reasonably patient.
