When will Oracle 10g/11g support Windows Server 2008 and AIX6.1

Hi all
I'm sorry if I post it in a wrong place... But I really want to know when will Oracle 10g/11g support Windows Server 2008 and AIX 6.1?
I've searched in metalink but found nothing useful. Is there anybody can give me a link of Oracle's roadmap for platform support?
Thanks!

Oracle does not announce release dates and neither
does any other software company. But Oracle does have a very good track record of supporting their products on new windows releases extremely close to the windows release date. Clearly they can't support on an unreleased platform though. Given that the launch of Server 2008 isn't even complete worldwide yet (19th March in the UK for example) it would seem that this enquiry is a little premature.

• Oracle 10g install on Windows server 2008 R2 ( 6.1 )

Hi All,
I am trying to install Oracle 10g over windows server 2008 R2 (6.1) but it gives error that OS is not supported. I tried to install below version.
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4.0)
Enterprise/Standard Edition for Microsoft Windows Vista x64, Windows Server 2008 x64,
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 x64, Windows 7 x64
But it fails with error that OS version 6.1 is not supported. On download page it is written to get 10.2.0.5 patch from My Oracle support for windows server 2008 R2, I got patch p8202632_10205_MSWIN-x86-64 but it requires a pre-installed oracle home.
So how should I install Oracle 10g as 10.2.0.4 does not get installed and the patch asks for a previous install?
The reason I am installing Oracle 10g is that our Java application is running in production over JDK 1.4 and Oracle 11g does not provide JDBC driver for JDK 1.4, is there any JDBC driver for Oracle 11g that can work with JDK 1.4?
Thanks in advance for help.
Best Regards!
Irfan

• Oracle v 9 with Windows Server 2008 and odbc

Hi.
I've got a customer that has a windows 2008 server and I need to connect to an oracle database from a .net application from this server.
First I thought it was easy to configure an odbc connection on the computer and then just use it but it seems that I need to install "oracle client" first.
Problem, it seems that it's not possible to find this "oracle client" for oracle version < 9 (it's running somehting like 8.1.6 ) for windows 2008
I have also try to directly use .net assembly to avoid odbc but i've got the same error message "oracleconnection need oracle client installed"
Is there a solution ?

A 10.2 Oracle client was certified to connect to an 8.1.7 database (8.1.7 has been decertified, so all certifications are past tense). A 10.2 Oracle client is certified on a Windows 2008. So it should be possible to install a 10.2 client on a Windows 2008 server and connect to an 8.1.7 database.
I can't guarantee that this will work, just that it appears that it should. I would be very hesitant to have this mix of very new technologies connecting to very old technologies because you're definitely pushing the envelope. It generally doesn't make a lot of sense to stay with a version of Oracle that hasn't been supported in years if you want to run the latest version of Windows on the client machine-- if this is a system that is going to continue into the future, you would generally want to keep everything relatively current; if this is a legacy system that is being phased out, you would generally want to leave everything on older versions.

You said, "...+I would like to install Release 2(11.1.1.2.0)+ ...". Be careful. 11.1.1.2.0 is not Release 2. The version for Rel 2 is 11.1.2.0, notice that there is one less "1". Also, there is no way to patch from Release 1 to Release 2.
In EDelivery, this is what you should find if you search on "Oracle Fusion Middleware" for "Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)":
First look for this link then drill into it:
Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Media Pack for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)
In this section you will find the following:
This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 2 (Forms & Reports)
Oracle Forms and Reports 11g R2 (11.1.2.0.0) for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) V28761-01
This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 1 (includes Portal, Forms, Reports, and Disco)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 1 of 4) V18785-01
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 2 of 4)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 3 of 4)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 4 of 4)
This is the FMw 11 Release 1 patch set that will bring the above 11.1.1.2.0 installation to 11.1.1.6. This is NOT a full product installation - just a patch
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g Patch Set 5 (11.1.1.6.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) V29850-01
There are no patch sets for Release 2 as of yet.

• Installing Application Server 10g R2 on Windows Server 2008

Hi all,
I want install Oracle Application Server 10g R2 on Windows Server 2008 ( 64 bit).
It always prompt error "ORA-12560: TNS Adapter error", when I try to install Oracle Application Server Infrastructure 10g.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
MKBH

Basically use for internal web server only. I'm not sure can I use Oracle weblogic 11g instead of OracleAS 10g R2. I'll use some of the components like Oracle HTTP Server, Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE(OC4J), Reports Services, Forms Services, Metadata Repository for Oracle Application Server Middle-Tier and etc.

• Problems installing OBIEE 11g on Windows Server 2008 64 bit

Hi, I'm trying to install OBIEE 11g on Windows Server 2008 64 bit (standard edition, SP2), and it's blowing up running the installer. The installer gets past the first couple of "info" screens, but blows up prior to coming to the first "real" screen with an error:
Microsoft Visual C++ Assertion Failed:
Program: ...
File: ../../../src/share/native/sun/font/t2k/t2kstrm.c
Line: 132
Expression: pos <= t->maxPos
Has anyone seen this and/or have an idea how to work around this? Note that I did do the prerequisite download / install of the 2005 Visual C++ 64 bit libraries.
Thanks,
Scott

Just to close the loop on this thread, this does indeed seem to be some sort of font / java issue on our servers. I've been completely unable to get the install to work using the GUI. However, if I run it from command line using the -silent and -response paramaters along with a proper response file, the install went perfectly. I'm going to continue working the SR with Oracle - don't want to be stuck using -silent mode when things get more complicated, but at least now I can move forward.
If anyone else has a better workaround - please let me know. "Silent" mode is workable, but difficult and time consuming.
Thanks,
Scott

Why OracleAS 10.1.3.x version doesn't have OracleAS Infrastructure components?Because not all OAS releases were complete software versions. By complete software versions, I mean they were not a software version where each component (like Identity Management, Portal, BI, SOA Suite, etc.) would have an updated version.
OAS Release 2 (10.1.2.x.x) was a complete release but OAS Release 3 (10.1.3) was not. After release 2, Oracle Fusion Middleware OFM 11g is now a complete release.
OracleAS Identity Mgmt (10.1.4) was the updated version of OAS Id Mgmt after OAS 10.1.2 and before OFM 11g.

• Does AsyncOS 6.5.1-005 support Windows Server 2008 LDAP?

Does AsyncOS 6.5.1-005 for the E-mail Security Appliance support Windows Server 2008 authentication?

Hello rklebano,
Can you give some more side information? What are you pointing at, can you explain what you try to accomplish and what the problem is you are facing?
To share some of my experiences with you: I have queried a Win2k8 domain from a non Windows host (a Perl script running on Linux) using basic authentication. If you make sure your windows policy allows basic authentication for the userID you are using it will work. You can even query your Global Catalog, which is better indexed, using this logon type.
If you are forced to use MS propriety logon types I assume that Ironport will not be able to connect.
Steven.
Hi Steven,
We are trying to achieve a native Server 2008 AD domain. Unfortunately our WSA and ESA's are unable to use Server 2008 domain controllers to authenticate against. The WSA have a preview version of AsyncOS 6.0 (Aurora) that supports 2008 AD authentication. I was wondering if there was a version of the AsyncOS for the ESA that supports that as well.

• Weblogic 11g on windows server 2008 - run WLST

how to configure weblogic 11g on windows server 2008 to run a simple WLST script
I managed to get so far on Windows to run a WLST script. Most examples are in Unix
I am in Dos, and ran our set environment variables.
Run java weblogic.WLST
To use WLST in interactive mode:java weblogic.WLST
I get as far as wls:/offline> connect('weblogic','weblogic','localhost:7001')
This works,
So now I am trying to figure out how to display the server state of the server, most examples are for unix.
Would any one have one that shows the server state, number of connections, and the number of active threads or stuck.
Just a a pointer would help me.
Cheers

• Does LabVIEW DSC 8.5 support Windows Server 2008?

Hi,
I am developing a SCADA system using LabVIEW DSC 8.5. Apparently, customer wants the Server Computer to be latest Windows Server 2008 operating System.
But the Release and Upgrade note specify that DSC Module does not support Windows NT/Me/98/95/Server 2003. (System Requirement section)
Does it support Windows server 2008?
Any feedback most appreciated.
Message Edited by Vsh on 09-28-2009 08:56 AM

Hi Vsh
Sadly no version of LabVIEW (and therefor no modules like DSC either) officially supports Server 2008. That has however not stopped people from trying and I've seen both cases were it has worked fine and cases were it has not worked. This thread might be of interest to you.

hi,
can you repair system file errors like ntoskrnl.exe in windows server 2008 and 2012 like like before in windows server 2003 ?
the steps were repairing ntoskrnl.exe error in windows server 2003
1- have a 2003 cd and from that cd start recovery console and copy from i386 directory ntldr and ntdetect.com to windows /system32 directory on the server and then repairing
2- MBR with fixmbr command and then rebuild BOT.INI file with bootcfg/rebuild .
now my question is how you repair or solve such problem with ntoskrnl.exe error in windows server 2008 and windows server 2012
thanks
johan
h.david

first this wil take a lot of time for windows 2008 and 2012 ,
and what about windows 2003 I thing this has no startup repair
thanks
johan
h.david
What will take a lot of time? Repair or clean install? These days one can standup a new VM and have an operating system on it in around 20 minutes or so.
Correct server 2003 is file based deployment and completely different OS from repair perspective as well.

• Indexing .cfm files using Indexing Service on windows server 2008 and IIS 7.0

Hi All,
Anyone knows why .cfm files would not get indexed by Indexing Service on windows server 2008 and IIS 7.0. This is a coldfusion website using Indexing Service for site search. There are a lot of cfm pages indexed as unknown files. Any clues on how this can be fixed?
Thanks!

You might try editing your registry so that *.cfm, *.cfc, and other ColdFusion related files are treated as text files by the Windows search feature. See link below.

• Oracle DB 10g XE on Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit

Hello to everybody!
I have and old pc with Windows Server 2003 (32 bit) where i've installed Oracle DB 10g XE. Everything works fine.
Now i have to migrate the DB from that old machine to a new one with Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit.
I've tryied to install the Oracle DB 10g XE into the new server but, after installation is finished, i wasn't able to open the DB homepage at http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex. It said "This page can't be displayed". I try with SQLPLUS but after i insert the admin credentials i obtain these lines:
ERROR:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
Where can be the problem?

>> ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
Database is not running. Most likely the installer did not complete all its tasks, it can happen.
For windows, the database service has to be set up (see Start/Run/services.msc), services started, installer creates the database, and quite a few other setup chores. If the database creation fails, all the other stuff is not relevant.
Under the <drive:>oraclexe folder there *should* be a datafiles (*.DBF) files somewhere. Can't recall the exact location for 10g. Try file explorer and a search for *.dbf files, that will probably come up empty.
Note the requirements, at Oracle® Database Express Edition it calls for x86, not x64. The 11g XE also has lots of trouble getting a successful install on x64 as well, note the Download page states "does not work on x64" although some folks have gotten it to work.Try the deinstall steps, and use a right click/run as Administrator that *might* get past the UAC glitch that happens on the later OS versions.
