When will the Google toolbar work on Friefox 5????
Just updated to Firefox 5 at Firefox request, but Google toolbar not now compatible. Any idea when it might be as it's very useful!
It is not up to Firefox to support add-on toolbars, add-ons need to support Firefox.
Check with Yahoo to see what their plans are for updating the Yahoo Toolbar add-on.

Why doesn't the google toolbar work in 4.0.1? I select it and it won't display!
I have re-loaded 4.0.1 to see if it just loaded incorrectly, but no. I select the Google Toolbar (from View/Toolbars) and it loads a blank gray bar to the page. But no info at all. I can choose and unchoose the toolbar repeatedly, same result. Plain gray bar.

{Ctrl + Shft + A} to open the Add-ons Manager tab, select Extensions, then locate the Google Toolbar extension, and hit the Uninstall button. Restart Firefox using the button in that extension dialog.

Your site has been crashing a lot lately... I suspect due to upgrades? However, taking away the AOL toolbar is a major *downgrade* for me. When will it again be available, or is there a secondary replacement toolbar I can use for the sites I had bookmarked?

I have an AV unit and a Google TV. They don't work together with the Fios STB. My tv is wall mounted and everything is controlled by the AV thingy so there's no way I can hook it up the workaround way that is shows in the manual. I'm reading here that the answer is this 1.9 update and everyone has been talking about this update since last year. I saw several posts saying Verizon would release this in March (last month)? Is there a new date for this? I have about 3 more weeks to return the Google TV so I'm wondering what to do here.
Is 1.9 update coming soon? Like really really soon?

Firefox are already aware that Firefox 5 and Google toolbar won't work together yet I am continually being asked to install Firefox 5, each time I take the 'ask me later' option only to be asked again.
So when is the problem going to be fixed?Google needs to update the Google Toolbar program for Firefox 5.0.

With the new version of Firefox, the Google toolbar and something with my Webroot protection had to be inactivated to install. I use many of the features on the Google toolbar daily, and miss not being able to use it. When I try to reinstall, the message is that it is incompatible with Firefox 5.0. And I am not sure which features of my Webroot protection had to be deactivated for Firefox to install and run, but I want to retain my firewall and virus protection. And I MUCH prefer to use Firefox! So - I know you are always developing and improving. When will these become compatible again with Firefox.
The Google Toolbar is from Google and support for it can only come from Google, and Google has eliminated it from Firefox, and it never was in Google. Even Google has indicated that the features are available in Firefox through other extensions. But the features are really available in Firefox even without extensions from what I've seen because Firefox has very powerful bookmarks and knowing how to use them with JavaScript, substitution, and keyword shortcuts is a key to using Firefox.

Even though my Google toolbar doesn't work as easily as I would like with Firefox, I don't want it not working at all, so I continue to tell the, ( up date now is recommended) reminder to ask me later. How long can I continue to do this?

The update for 5.0 came so quickly, that a very large number of the add-ons and extensions I use to keep it safe and operate the way I am used to are not working, the MOST important of these being Google Toolbar and McAfee site advisor. I am already using Chrome for work due to the known issues FireFox has with the Google Toolbar in 4.0, and although I am a HUGE fan of Firefox, this latest update that seems rushed just to meet a deadline set may be the straw the broke the Firefox's back!! Let me know what I can expect going forward

When I updated to Firefox 5, I got a message that the Google toolbar was disabled as it wasn't compatible. I assume the same is true for version 6. After trying to use the browser without the toolbar for a few days I gave up and reinstalled version 4. Now I'm constantly getting pop-ups asked me to upgrade and I can't even submit feedback because you won't accept it until I upgrade. And version 4, which I never had a problem with before, is now very unstable and I have to shut it down at regular intervals to unfreeze it.

one month or two ago i was in NY at a friends house, and he updated firefox and in the new version what happened? "kaput" GOOGLE TOOLBAR GONE.
There are features in GT that firefox does't provide. I won't live without GT. Why can I no longer, after having downloaded Lion, write accents and other diacriticals when in the Google, Yahoo, FaceBook, or even here in this post? The new method for getting at the "option" symbols works fine in other places like spotlight, but now even the older "option+letter" doesn't work in most places.
Chrome doesn't support the new accent/diacritics/macron chooser. I'm not sure about other browsers such as Firefox. You can use the old Option+letter combination that Doug suggested. Hopefully updates will solve these little incompatibilities shortly.

If you look to the right you will see a link for 'more system details' that is where such troubleshooting information appears, and it can sometime be helpful.
I am using firefox on a couple of old XPs without problems. Obviously crashing is not expected behaviour, but please try to think of firefox as two separate parts the basic browser and all the additional software as addons and plugins.
It may be rather unrewarding trying to track down the cause of a crash using crash information, the best way forward is probably to start using it in[[safe mode]] and with no plugins installed.

If firefox is recommended by your university, why not try it out on one of their computers, presumably it is installed on the university computers available in the library etc, that should at least convince you that it does work.
I hope the problem is not malware, but if it is all the personal computers you try, a possibility that can not be discounted is that it is some form of malware affecting those computers.
Have you tried Internet Explorer, that will be installed on your XP by default I imagine, does that work ? -

As well, the Google map apps is a stand-alone App and does not integrate.
The Apple Maps is a foundation app that links/integrates to the other Apple apps and services running on your IPAD as required (ie Find my IPAD). It cannot be removed and so it is always working for you.
I also find the Apple maps satisfactory for my needs.

I needed to upgrade to Firefox 4.0+ for an add-on that I really needed. However, I can't use Firefox 5.0, as I randomly checked 3 add-on's I had: "Firefox PDF", "Delicious Bookmarks" and "After the Deadline", and none of them worked with Firefox 5.0. In fact, I will have to download alpha versions, etc., to get these add-ons to work with Firefox 4.0.
