When will the new haswell processor come to the macbook pro?

I'm going to college and have to buy a new computer. I think i'll buy the mbp 15 inch. Now i was following the wwdc event and there was only a new processor for the macbook air. I have to buy the computer this summer and i won't buy the macbook pro if it gets outdated within the month. Does anybody know when there will be an upgrade?

My poor MacbookPro from 10/2007 has a hard drive on it's last legs. I was hoping to buy the 15 inch with Retina display in August (which hopefully would include the Haswell) but my "granny" may not make it. It was bad enough they came out with the new OSX two weeks after I bought it...I don't want that sort of thing to happen again with this processor!

Hey! Just a quick question. I've been hearing rumours everywhere that a quad core MacBook Pro is on the way. Apparently Apple Genius' are now being trained on new MacBook Pros and there's been other rumours floating around.
Just wanted to know if anyone had any extra information as I think the MacBook Pro's are so sexy and I really want one, but should I wait? Quad Core sounds good!

Sorry, but no one outside of Apple knows anything reliable about future product releases. Anything anyone here would post would be pure speculation which isn't allowed here (the Discussions are for technical support on existing products). Whether any rumors the various sites report have any validity, your guess will be as good as ours.
And just for future use, questions about the MacBook Pro will best be posted in the forum for that model rather than here in the iMac area.

When will the MacBook Retina Display shell case come?

I am going on a trip and I need a protection case to keep my laptop safe. I recently bought a MacBook Pro with Retina Display and I have not heard anything from Apple about the cases. When will the cases be out in the U.S?

I went to the Apple Store today and talked to the manager. He said he does not know, because the only indication of when is WHEN it arrives. Could be tomorrow (unlikely). Could be ten days. I tend to believe him because he has been right in the past. Just ask the store roughly when deliveries are made each day. Then call around that time.

Will the macbook pro 13" 4GB ram be enough to run LPX ?

As you probably now know, Logic Pro X is finally out and it's time for me to update my old LP9 to this new soft.
I'm going to buy a new mac and here is my problem : LPX needs at least 4GB RAM to run, I was wondering if my 2011 IMAC 21.5" would run it and in particular the macbook pro 13" (no retina screen) would too - cause I need a laptop and don't wanna leave my Imac.
I'm not such a sound ingenieer but I don't wanna spend more than $1400 if I can't run LPX.

If it runs LP9 ok, and you have a core2duo processsor upwards (or in otherwords a 64 bit processor) that can run mountain lion, then yes, will run as well as LP9 in my experience on older machines.

Will the MacBook Pro get an exterior appearance facelift in the future?

I was just wondering since Apple has used the Silver Powerbook platform for some time now. Are there any plans in the near future of a different look for the MacBook Pro?

Apple has typically introduced a new fashion statement about every 2.5-3 years. They do keep pace with the latest trends so I'm confident we'll be seeing a new color scheme in the not so distant future. Sounds as if you're having a problem with your GPU (graphics card). Only Apple can diagnose and fix this, so the best thing would be to take your machine into your local Apple Store or an AASP.

I am new to this forum and to Macs in general and I have some questions regarding a refurbished MacBook Pro that I am interested in purchasing and whether or not it will be sufficient for my needs.

It's a few generations old...
In addition to the stock specs, it has been upgraded with the following:
2x1GB (SODIMM) 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (otherwise known as PC2-5300)
and
a 200GB, 5400RPM SATA hardrive.
I want to be able to use Logic Pro for both at-home composition/production and live performance. What I'd really like to know is the following:
1) How many software synth plugins will I be able to run at the same time? I realize that they vary in size/strain on resources, but on average, what can I expect?
2) Will this setup be stable and usable in a live performance setting, using Mainstage, and switching quickly between programs which may have different plugins that need to be called up?
3) Would an external audio interface be necessary if I am not recording audio?
4) I am planning to use my current 88key M-Audio controller keyboard via USB to the MBP. Are there any issues with latency if I use this setup?

Will the MacBook Pro need a SIM card or any type of plan

I'd like to know if there was a need to put a SIM card or some sort of insert when I get the MacBook . Do I need a plan to operate the laptop ? Aswell as programming ... Will Microsoft word and PowerPoint be included with the system or will I need to purchase the program separately ?

You dont need a SIM card or any insert, nor any kind of plan or programming knowledge. Microsoft products will need to be purchased separately.

Does the spreadsheet behave normally otherwise? What happens if you try to add a table to that blank sheet?

Hi Jose. The issue you're having with your battery depends on how much you've used it in one week as well. Here are some suggestions on what to do. First, update your Macbook Pro. You should have the latest firmware for your battery. Second, you can try resetting the SMC. Calibrating the battery would also be a good idea. If all fails, since its a fairly new MBP, try asking for a battery replacement. Go to the store where you bought the machine and have it checked or replaced. Network connections should still continue if the computer has only gone to the screensaver or display sleep. On a portable machine, when the machine goes to sleep it closes the network connection. You may find the following article helpful:

On all Macs:
The microprocessor goes into a low-power mode
Video output is turned off, and a connected display may turn off or enter its own idle state
Apple-supplied hard disks spin down; third-party hard disks may spin down
On portable Macs:
The Ethernet port turns off, if applicable (see note below)
Expansion card slots turn off
The built-in modem, if present, turns off (see note below)
An AirPort card, if present, turns off (see note below)
The USB ports only responds to the power key on an external keyboard (see below)
The optical media drive, if present, spins down
Audio input and output turns off
Keyboard illumination, if a feature of your portable computer, turns off
A computer uses considerably less power when in sleep mode than when awake. The computer will continue to power RAM in sleep mode, so that whatever was in RAM when the computer went to sleep will still be there when the computer wakes. This also means that computers with more RAM use slightly more power in sleep mode.
Note: Portable computers have no network connectivity when in sleep mode, but can wake if the Energy Saver option "Wake for network access" is enabled. If you wish to use file sharing or don't want to interrupt your Internet connection, you should not manually put the computer to sleep, and you should drag the "Computer sleep" slider to Never.

Is the macbook pro 13-inch: 2.4 GHz suitable for editing HD video?

I am a university student, and for some of my projects, I am required to edit HD video, approx around 15 minutes in length and making short films. Will the macbook pro 13-inch: 2.4 GHz be able to live up to this and handle the large video files?

I use a 13" MBP for video editing and it seems to do ok. Rendering can take a while sometimes (sorta wish I would've gone with the 15" for the quad-core processor) but overall it's definitely very liveable.
chaznsc does raise a good point - the 13" display is a little small, especially when you're searching for keywords (FCPX) with the video preview and info screens open. But the 15" isn't all that much bigger. The resolution between the two isn't much different - everything is just "bigger." You don't really get much more true real estate.
When I get sick of feeling cramped I just plug in an external monitor. Problem solved I get the best of both worlds this way - 13" small and compact for using on the train or a plane, and bigger monitor when I need it.
