No, only the iPads specifically for CDMA networks are able to use those networks. I believe that the radio card has both, but it isn't activated on a GSM iPad.

Before you go, move the files to I tunes and sync them down. There is no viable way to stream from your nas drive to the pad.

Apple iOS designers did away with the Picture Frame slide show app and the lock screen icon that used to activate it.
If you are looking for a replacement, look in the iOS App Store app and search for Picmatic.
This is a pretty good replacement for that function.

I never had a backlight bleeding problem and this is news to me about the new iPad. There were issues with heat and the battery for some people - but the backlight bleeding was more of an issue with the iPad2.
Besides, those issues in all cases were a very small number of the total number of iPads that were sold .... a very small number.
My new iPad has been a tremendous investment and performs magnificently in every aspect.

Why wasn't the new iPad Mini called the iPad Mini 2 ?

The title given to it "iPad Mini Retina Display" is hardly a snappy title, especially when compared to the other iPads.
Could it be that this is not a major new version but an interim model ( a bit like Windows Vista was an interim until Microsoft were ready to launch Windows 8 ), to try and stem the drift away from Apple to Android this Christmas, until Apple are ready to introduce the real iPad Mini 2 model next year ?

The iPad mini with Retina Display also has the new A7 CPU, significantly improved GPU, the M7 Motion Coprocessor, probably more RAM (though that's not yet confirmed), and options for larger storage along with a few other new features. There is currently no discount available for students for the the new ipad. Its unlikely that you will see the new ipad discounted unil the end of the year. When they do discount it though dont exect it to be more than maybe a 40 dollar discount.
