When will Verizon deploy 802.11n capable routers?

Would be nice to know so that we (the customer) can make plans on purchasing of new computers and such. g and b are not cutting it anymore...just my humble opinion.

It may look long and messy, but reading through it for a few minutes will save you an hour of your time. If anybody got a better outcome on the issue, please let me know!
Do you REALLY expect anyone to read that????? My goodness, if you feel the need to post stuff like that, at least take the time to format it! I have no idea whether I might be sympathetic with whatever your issue is, but I for one am absolutely not going to waste my time trying to read that.
Just a suggestion.....

  • When will Verizon deploy the new M series cable cards.

I have read that verizon will be switching over to the newer multistream M series cable cards. When can we expect them to be available and also will the cost be the same as the current s cards.
On  the same note why is Verizon charging $3.98 each for the current s cards whrn most cable companies only charge about $2~$3 each. That wont be so bad if the price stays the same for the M cards because only one is required for 2 streams. It sort of looks like verizon is trying to discourage the use of TIvo's and Cable card computers (MCE) by over pricing the cable card rentals.

My main question is has Verizon anounced a price for M cards. As I said befor $3.98 each ($7.98 for 2) S Cards is too much. I certainly hope they dont charge $7.98 for one M card just because it can do the same as 2 S cards. I beilive Vierizon is trying to discourage Tivo & MCE cable card users by artificialy over charging for cable cards.

  • Moto G 1st Gen - when will Verizon push Lollipop 5.0

Now that Lollipop 5.0 OS is released and Motorola says all versions of the Moto G will receive it, when will Verizon push it out to my phone?

And it would be speculation only. Anyone who truly knows before the official announcement is probably restricted from saying anything because a non-disclosure agreement. Not even the VZW reps know before the announcement.

  • Global Roaming, when will Verizon step up for their customers!!!!

Is there any one that works at Verizon that knows anything at all about the Galaxy S3? Customers have been asking to enjoy the same benefits as other users of the Galaxy S3 on other carriers. When will Verizon get with the program? Someone from Verizon come forward and give us some straight answers on this device such as why they chose to lock the bootloader down, why not make it a Global Ready device from the start. Unfortunately for them it will not be soon enough to keep me as a customer. I am glad that our Company gives us the choice to decide our carrier and I will make the correct choice in October. Thank you Verizon for the memories (painful!). Knowing Verizon the answers will come to these questions as quickly as their updates roll out! Good luck to all that stay with Verizon.

Google your request. VZW has stated many times why the boot loader is locked down

if the time for the screen set to lock down is set for a long time, the screen wasn't locked & you could pull down notifications.
just checked, you can't pull down notifications unless the screen is unlocked with 4.3.
is the screen lock down set for the same time as with 4.1.2?

  • Is it possible to get an IPv6 and 802.11n capable router?

I would like to upgrade my current wireless router to an one that supports IPv6 and 802.11n. I want to do 6in4 tunnels for IPv6 to Hurricane Electric for my tunnel service and I have computers that have 802.11n. Currently I have the Actiontec (Verizon) MI424-WR wireless router with 10/100 ports. Can I get this through Verizon? I know I can go buy a Wireless router that can provide this on the outside, but want to ensure that this doesn't mess up my tv services. I have the three services currently on FIOS. TV, Internet and phone. So the router controls the TV settop boxes also.

Well Verzion them selve has no plans to switch customers over to ipv6 capable routers right away as its hard to get on Wireless N router from them as well unless you are on a buisness plan. Now If you Turn off your wireless from the Verizon side and hook up a router switch to a open port on the verizon router\modem there should be no problem as thats how i do mine. Also there are only certain routers and that support Wireless N and IPv6 access and I will post some info here as well about that.

  • IPhones will not connect 802.11n

I am new to the airport family so my appologies if my problem has been solved (I didn't find anything searching) or if its obvious and simple.
I currently have an airport extreme broadcasting a 802.11a/n - 802.11b/g wpa2 network. I also have a wired express creating the same network to extend it (thanks for the help with that, Bob).
First, i noticed that my MBPs were connecting to the N network but only 2.4ghz, so I set it to broadcast a separate 5GHz network name. after that, the MBPs were connecting to the 5ghz network without a problem.
So, when I check the clients on my network, I notice the iphones ( 4 and 4s) in the house are only connecting on 802.11b/g not a/n. This happens even if the iphones are only a few feet from the router.
Why are the iphones not connecting on the n network? Is this a setting issue or simply part of the technology I am misunderstanding?
    Thanks.

sorry. I didn't mean to disable SSID broadcast; my experience with doing that is it has never mixed well with my macs. SSID broadcast is enabled.
    I was referring to when you enabled the setting on the wireless tab in the "wireless network options" dialog box that will enable broadcasting a second SSID for a 5ghz only network (along with your regular SSID broadcast). For example, the two broadcast SSIDs would be;
         phil178821 (which is set to 5ghz n and 2.4ghz b/g/n)
         and
         phil178821 5Ghz (which is 5ghz N only)
What I was trying to described before is if I am sitting close to my router (15ft) and I am broadcasting just one SSID (my normal 802.11n - 802.11b/g/n), my MBP will connect to the 5ghz 802.11n. If I moved up three floors in the house, my MBP will change connection to 802.11b/g/n. With that, my understanding is that it is now connected via 802.11n 2.4ghz. Because it defaulted to the 2.4ghz frequency, I figured I was out of range of the 5ghz network. However, if I go into my AE settings and enable broadcast of a second SSID for a 5ghz N network (as described above), my MBP will pick it up at full strength and connect to it.
So I guess my question is. Why will the MBP opt for 2.4ghz when I broadcast  one SSID, if I know 5ghz is still in range since the MBP will connect to it if I enable it with a second SSID in the AE options (recall, the MBP will chose the 5Ghz frequency closer to the AE, e ven when only one SSID is broadcasted)?
hopefully I am explaining this well enough. Thanks for your help.

  • When will Verizon Cell Tower installed in 2013 on Ridge Road in Town of Broome, Schoharie CountyNY be turned on? Where in the Verizon Co. can I find out about this

A cell tower was installed in 2013 on Ridge Road in Town of Broome, Schoharie CountyNY. It appears to be ready to operate. When will it be turned on? Where in the Verizon Co. can I find out about this. I now depend on an unreliable and expensive dish-satellite system for internet access and would like to be able to take advantage of my Verizon WiFi cell to connect. Who and how do I contact Verizon to find out? Many thanks.

Are you sure it isn't turned on? Are you sure it is even a Verizon tower? If it is a Verizon tower, it may not be turned on yet because it has not received approval from your local government. If it is awaiting approval, Verizon has no control about when approval will be granted.

  • When will Verizon get competitive with Comcast

I live in the central Virginia area.  I have friends with Comcast that now get Picture-in-Picture (PiP) with their DVR.  They don't have to do anything special except push the PiP button on the remote.  No special wiring, no splitting the cable, etc. When is Verizon going to offer the same service???????

FiOS HD DVRs have dual live buffers so adding PIP would simply be a matter of writing the software (software is far easier to deploy than new hardware).
I don't know one way other the other whether it is possible or not with Motorola DVRs, but a post in this thread by KenAF says not, and I have found him to be very knowledgeable:

KenAF is always saying that the Motorolla hardware won't support this, that or the other (16:9 guide, external hard drives, PIP, etc...) due to a lack of adequate memory. His argument usually is essentially that no one else is doing it with this equipment so FiOS can't either. I don't believe that for a minute. Software solves a lot of problems and there are always smarter ways to get it done.
The hardware seems fine to me. With the right development effort, I'm sure that Verizon could make PIP work.

  • Advanced-N 6200 in T510 will not connect 802.11n

I have just received my T510 with the 6200 wireless adaptor.  This adaptor will not connect using wireless-n, only wireless-g.  I am running Windows 7, 64 bit.  Other devices that I have are connecting using wireless-n to the same router.
The driver is the latest (13.3.0.24) and 802.11n mode is shown as "Enabled".   There does not seem to be a choice for wireless-n in the "Wireless Mode" selection list.
Is it possible to get this to work with wireless-n?  If so, any help would be appreciated.

This is a well known problem with 802.1n kit, that unfortunately many of the WiFi kit vendors are genrally reluctant to warn users about.
The Intel 6300 WiFi card is fully 802.11n compliant, so it is not the issue.  Basically that means it should (and will) only connect in 802.11n in the 5GHz band WiFi band on its default settings.
It will also generally connect in a "Super-G" like mode (about 130Mbps raw link speed) in the 2.4Ghz band to a router than offers 802.11n connectivity solely on the 2.4GHz WiFi band, but this is not a fully specified mode of operation.
From draft 2 of the 802.11n spec onwards, the use of 40Mhz bonded chanels in the 2.4GHz WiFi band has been strongly discouraged, as it is generally anti-social in areas with a lot of 2.4GHz WiFi networks operating concurrently.
Your other devices may be operating on the now long out of date initial 802.11n spec, which permitted 40Mhz bonded channel operation in the 2.4Ghz WifI band.... before wide-spread practical field use indicated how disasterous it was for many existing 802.11b and 802.11g WiFi users.
Essentially, you need to get a dual band router that supports 802.11n operation in the 5GHz Wi Fi band (which by the way is actually around 5.8GHz).

  • When will ipad2 (with 3G) have capability to make phone calls over sim card

I would like to know if and when will IPAD2 with 3g have the capability to make phone calls over the sim...

We're all just fellow users here and have no idea whether Apple will ever release an iPad with cellphone calling capability. I would doubt that any existing iPad will ever have such a capability, though, if you're referring to an iPad you already own. If you need voice calling capabilities, consider one of the voice-over-IP services such as Skype.

  • When will verizon be getting 4G prepaid?

I use to have a verizon monthly subscription. 2 year contract... Bill was like 130 dollars a month, after my contract was up I went pre-paid.. But first I went to boost mobile, because they have 4G phones and verizon does not.
When I realized I could use my iphone 4 with pre-paid I switched back over to verizon, because they have better over all services.
Now the real question here is , when does verizon plan to add 4G to their pre-paid phone services?
All the other companies have it already for their pre-paid. Sprint/ATT/Tmobile.. all the prepaid companies.
I hope these people realize that pre-paid is the way of the future and they are only losing customers by not getting on board like all these other companies.

    Hi,
No plans have been announced for adding 4G to prepaid plans.  Right now, 3G is it.  Personally, I hardly ever use 4G since I use WiFi everywhere I go.  That is how I keep way under my monthly data usage each month.  But, again, to answer your question, no plans for 4G on prepaid plans.  Of course, Verizon doesn't announce new changes until after they start, just keep checking back.
