When will we see live events

So, now Apple TV gives us access to the biggest on-demand library of content (well, needs a few more movies) at the click of a remote control button. If NBC joins up, I effectively do not need, nor want, cable or satellite TV any longer to watch series.
But the the next step is obvious: pay-per-view on-demand live events. Everything from sports, concerts, news, whatever. Does anyone else share my view that this is less less than two years away? And that, if Apple offers this, they could indeed become a gargantuan global media distribution company?

unfortunately, I think that ATV will not be as successful as it could be because people will look at it the way you do. As a sort of computer/TiVo/iPod thingy.
I started to look at it as a portal for on-demand media of any sort. I can go into TV shows and can chose any episode from any TV show from any Network I want to watch right then and there and watch it right away. That's IPTV for me. Whether the technology behind it downloads the episode to to a hard disk is of no concern to me, except that this allows me to transfer that TV episode to my iPod.
IPTV as you describe it, i.e., sending regular linear TV programming via telephone cables, interesting, but really, is there a benefit to me, as a consumer? And on-demand from IPTV as you describe it is the same as what you get from ATV, only that yuo would call the downloading "buffering" and you dont get to transfer the file to iPod.
On-demand live is a weird construct, I agree. I meant that firstly, I can chose to watch any live event going on. I am not dependent on TV channels deciding whether they should show Formula 1, Wimbledon, NBA basketball or Chelsea vs Arsenal Cup game. It will all be available. Secondly, if, say, the Live 8 concert is on live, I will be able to chose whether I want to start from the beginning or into the live stream. And to do this, I dont have to mess around with a TiVo or anything. I just do it all with the little Apple Remote and it is all intuitive and does not require me to do any planning, recording, programming; because its all on the Apple Servers.
Think about the ATV like this, forget the idea that you "download" something, just pick what you want to watch and go for it, dont think about whats going on with the hard drive. I really am not sure what you then want from "IPTV" that you dont get from ATV (except the live events).
I would love to hear your views, because maybe I am just missing something?

When will we see mobile apps on android?

Hi, The new CC mobile apps I have been receiving emails about today look great, but when will we be seeing android versions?
Getting a galaxy Note 4 this week and relay want these apps. It seems a bit of a bad move to make them only available to apple users. I understand the devs are working on Light room mobile for android but at lease give us droid users some word on what is planned to come out and maybe even some rough time frame.

To be completely clear, the update to the iPhone's OS that is necessary to support adding applications is expected in June. How soon after that, presuming the update is released on time, we will see the arrival of actual applications will depend on a number of factors including how quickly the developers receive the final versions of the SDK and OS so that they can finish their applications. So we may see some apps in June, but it may take longer. We'll just have to wait and see.

When will we see an upgradable and recyclable Retina Notebook?

When I see the new Apple products, be it Retina notebook, ipad or imac, I get angry.
I don't need and don't want a product which sacrifies environment for design.
When will Apple again be avantgarde and design recyclable, reusable and upgradable products?
The stuff I'm seeing frightens me. I stick to Apple since 1993. I've gone through the lows and highs.
What I'm seeing now makes me think to move to a Windows/Linux PC for political reasons. And I really do hate standard PC's.

This is, of course, right. Sad enough.
What I want to say is that Apple goes backwards instead of forward in terms of sustainability. Previous Macbooks were modular, upgradable and better recyclable. The latest products from Apple, all above the retina notebooks, are produced to be trash after 2-4 years. The new imac seem to be just this, too. Who the **** needs a slimmer imac? The display can't be disassembled, the battery can't be changed, many things are glued and/or soldered without any flexibility. Don't get me wrong, Apple products are great, usually work well and are simply beautiful. I work with them since 1993. But along with Apple's intentions to user data collection and latest design directions I start having a problem with it.
But why do I read more objections in the forum instead of support in the same direction? Our opinion matters! And Apple DOES read these user-to-user talks.
Apple is now the big guy. They earn tons of money. They are the worldwide leader, they get all the attention, they have responsibility! They could be the one producing the greenest hardware ever. Particularly with the retina display I would wish to have the possibility to upgrade all the components using the same housing/display/power supply. This display won't be obsolete for the next 10 years.
Imagine what this could save. Imagine what marketing message this would be to the community. Apple could only win. They would lose possibly one lifecycle's display/housing margin, but could compensate this on the replacement components while getting the world's applause.

When will we see the 10.2.1.3175 update?

Blackberry has just released the latest update for the Z10 et.al. phones, 10.2.1.3175 when will Verizon push this out to us?

Lord & Taylor Card - When will I see my CLI on my report?

L&T recently switched over to Capital One instead of Sycrohony Bank...so I've had the card for over a year and I wanted to request a CLI. I requested from CapOne and they approved me for an increase of $300 (should of asked for $500, but anywho). it's been about a month and I haven't seen this reflected on my report, in fact it's showing up as OVERLIMIT! which my card hasn't been overlimit in months. Anyone else have this experience? When will it finally show up?

When will we see a response from Verizon on their deception about our Galaxy Non Nexus

I read the article and it said Verizon was going to give a response. We all know this response will never come it never has. I will be sure to let them know of my displeasure when I move my 3 lines of service to a prepaid carrier. With a real nexus phone directly from Google. What pitiful customer service we are receiving.

You're not going to get one here since this is a customers to customer forum. Secondly if you are going to go to another carrier just do it and cut the drama. Beside what the heck are you even talking about?

When will we see Iphone 4 at Best Buy?

I swear I check my local store and the site multiple times every single week, and every week same thing out of stock. Then if you ask the question, the BB people have no idea, it is like some big deep dark secret. I just want to order one of these I do not care if I pre-order until replenishment (can't do that as well). I would normally just get them at Apple who has them in stock, but got these BB gift cards burning a hole in my pocket...guess next time will not ask for BB gift cards from my credit card company when I cannot even use them.
Anyhow, what I care about is just getting notified they are in stock, twitter feed, email notification anything, heck even just place a standing order....but having to constantly call them or check online is ridiculous. Anyone know something I do not?

Coming from me, a VERY heavy Droid user. I can understand their cap at 2GB. I am a VERY heavy user. Email, Youtube, web browsing, weather, you name it, I do it on my phone, and I have yet to even get to 1GB let alone 2GB. *shrug* For what it's worth, if you can actually hit 2GB on your phone, my hat's off to you.

When will I see infinity?

Can anyone tell me when I will manage to get Bt infinity. My exchange is South Milford in the Selby district. It says its enabled and accepting orders but Bt says its not available !

Problem with BB10 that still not fixed...when will we see them fixed?

there are some problem that I have noticed on the Verizon network that is Gimping my BB10 experience which is not making me happy
1 The Verizon network is causing a big problem with remote file access. (still no update on a fix)
2 The Verizon network is causing a problem with built in voice mail. (still no update on a fix)

The newer versions of the BB10 OS software fix the first problem, however I use the free YouMail app (sideloaded app officially provided by the developer) for Virtual Voice Mail so I don't know about the problem with #2.
You can load the official 10.2 OS upgrade that is being released worldwide onto your Verizon Z10. The Verizon reps here will say you will void your BlackBerry warranty, but these are official OS's, not "leaks", so it will not. Go to CrackBerry.com to find out how, it's not too hard to install unless you don't know anything about using a computer.

Area upgraded to 20MB. When will I see a speed inc...

Just checked the speed checker on the website and apparently our area is now capable of getting 20MB broadband (well, 17MB where I am, previous 6.5MB).
Just wondering if and when I'll be upgraded? Or do I need to apply for it?

can I suggest you use the search facility for 'upgrade problems' I would list some but it is easier if you search as there are a few - 21CN is very aggressive on noise on your line and what is a good line on adslmax may not necessarily be a good line initially on 21CN

When will we see the Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter?

The keynote mentions it but only the gigabit Ethernet adapter is available. It's mentioned on the ThunderBolt page

There is a firewire out in the new (999.00) Thunderbolt Display. A lot to pay for the right to use firewire. And evidently, the display has firmware issues. This doesn't bode well for those of us who are audio professionals and rely on firewire for nearly eventhing we do. Belkin has a (400.00) dock coming out supposedly in Sept. Still expensive just to get one silly little FW port.
I imagine that, if Apple actually does have a 29.00 cable adaptor, it'll wait till the last minute to release it - losing lots of friends, but making bucks off of those who, in desperation, cave in and buy the Display before Belkin's product hits the shelves.
The final question, of course, is whether a down-conversion from Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 to Firewire 400 actually works - and many of the more common digital to audio converters are in the F400 mode. I imagine that, if this down-conversion doesn't work, there'll be a significant migration of audio professionals away from Mac computers in the future, as FW ports go by the boards.

WHEN will a complete revamp occur for PS TOUCH for Android Tablet?

My work as an arist is diverse. One of the programs I ABSOLUTELY needto rely upon to rely on, whilst away from my office, for Photoshop projects is PS TOUCH! Deadlines are imminent and this app was created to help that process along.
How does one do that when painting is an absolute mess since the brush quality was downgraded? I switch between Autodesk Sketchbook Pro for tablet and PS Touch for painting because Autodesk has the best brush quality and variety of brushes, like my CS6 on my computer at the office. PS TOUCH has dark edges when one color is painted over another and THE worst brushe types with extremely limited options to switch them up.
In SketchBook Pro it is GREAT TO ONLY need to deal with a COLOR WHEEL, opacity and size. OH YES, one cannot forget to mention that THE EYE DROPPER TOOL TO PICK A COLOR WITH IS GENIUS WITHOUT GOING INTO THE BRUSH SETTINGS as in PS Touch. Only an artist could have thought of that and brought it to fruition because most likely that is the easiest and fasteat way TO pick a color.
Autodesk Sketchbook Pro for tablet has FOUR blending brushes. What a rush!! Why should I need to switch between programs? Because the blending 'brush', found on the left side of the PS Touch screen, screws the colors up!! PS TOUCH SHOULD be my everything for all Photoshop projects.
All my folders do not even show up in PS Touch for tablet. Why? PS Touch for tablet is horrible and will not advocate its use until it is improved substantially.
So, Adobe app writers, when will this app live up to the care and attention put into the desktop and cloud version?

Glad to hear someone with the same issues as me....switching between sketchbook pro and touch is a nightmare, but when the 'industry' leader is playing second fiddle to a 'lesser' app, it makes me laugh. So......in short, come on adobe, pull your finger out
