When will XML Publisher Support Adobe 7 format?

I am wondering what version of XML Publisher is slated to support Adobe 7 Format?

Hi Tim
We have no immediate plans to support the designer forms, the specification is huge and will take time to implement. I understand its a tad expensive compared to Acrobat too.

  • When will XML be supported within the kernel

Before the release of Oracle 9i, I heared that XML support be planned to reside in the kernel, i.e., will be programmed in c and can be used w/o the Java VM in the DB. Also, the "Oracle9i XML API Reference - XDK and Oracle XML DB" documentation for Oracle 9.2 states,
that 9.2 introduces "C-Based PL/SQL DOM, Parser, and XSLT APIs integrated in the database code".
However, the xmlparser package still depends on xmlparsercover with it's "is language java" implementations. Nothing against Java, but we have databases w/o java and it's quite hard to install it during production.
Is this re-implementation in the kernel still planned, just cancelled or was it never planned ?

    Hello,
I am the technical lead for SES/Search Framework with PeopleSoft.  You will continue to be supported for the delivered DB version with the Single appliance install of SES (Install option #1)  as long as you are on a supported version of PeopleSoft.  I hope this helps as there is no plan to certify SEs with 12 c at this time.
E-SES: For PeopleSoft Environments, Which Install Option Should We Choose? (Doc ID 1616429.1)
If you choose to install to an existing DB then you will have to license the DB and the same does not apply.  Please review the above Km doc discussing the install option.

  • Will iBooks ever support Adobe DRM?

I quite often want to read books that are not available in the UK iBookstore. These books are almost always available from another UK publisher in ePub format, but with Adobe DRM. So I now use another ebook reader app that supports Adobe DRM.
The other library is now bigger than the one in iBooks and I have transferred all my non-DRM ebooks and .pdfs into it too. I keep iBooks going for my iBookstore purchases, but I mostly use the new reader. This is a shame. I found iBooks and the iBookstore really easy to use, and the integration with my Apple ID and backup on sync really convenient.
Will iBooks ever support Adobe DRM so that I can go back to keeping everything in iBooks?

Not a question anyone here would be able to answer. You can give Apple your feed back.

  • When will HTML5 be supported on all browsers without Flash

When will HTML5 be supported on all browsers without Flash.  Flash is a support nightmare.  No matter how much Adobe wants to rescue it, it's antiquated proprietary functionality that poses both security and support issues.

"When will HTML5 be supported on all browsers without Flash?"
This is a really weird question.  Why ask it here?
For starters...HTML5 support on all browsers is not something Adobe is responsible for, so why ask that question on this forum?  Instead, if you want anyone with a stake in the issue to answer it, ask the browser manufacturers (e.g. Microsoft, Google, Mozilla, Apple) when they will be supporting all features of HTML5.  The ball's in their court right now.
Secondly, for e-learning developers HTML5 is currently a bigger support nightmare than Flash ever was.  At least with Flash we had a runtime (Flash Player) that all major desktop browsers supported. You could create a course in Flash or Captivate, and as long as the end-user's browser had a current version of Flash Player, you could be reasonably certain it would run, and run smoothly.  HTML5 output from most current generation authoring tools runs like a dog with three legs.  And e-learning developers forced to build HTML5 or mobiles are encountering a minefield of wildly differing screen sizes and inconsistent implementations reminiscent of the worst years of the 90's "browser wars".  HTML5 is no picnic.  Give me Flash any day.
Thirdly, Adobe already knows they cannot "rescue" Flash.  Why do you think they've already started rolling out HTML5-centric apps such as the Edge Toolset.
Fourthly, the rumours of the death of Flash have been wildly exaggerated.  Flash is very much alive and well and happily living inside many of the games and apps that people are currently playing with on their mobile devices.

  • When will WebGL be supported on iOS Mobile Safari?

In our enterpirse we have developed a WebGL application using Three.js framework. Now, our customer wants it to run on Apple iPad. The problem is that we have found out that WebGL is only supported on iOS by using iAd. So we are wondering when will WebGL be supported on iOS mobile Safari to decide what to do.
    Thanks!

Dunno, it's a bit off topic, but there's no way that an emulated ARM build of flash would even run at all on iOS at the current point, let alone 7 years ago.
It's not that you can't build good flash, it's just that people don't. As you've said, you can use a dumbed down, non-extensible Adobe GUI to spit out javascript, and it'll tank just the same. Adobe Photoshop used to be the most blazingly fast application on the Mac. Adobe are a different story these days. Flash is a resource hog, whereas javascript is outright inefficient at moving graphics around, although it is improving substantially.
Flex, on the other hand, is open source.
Flash was actually created by Adobe. Adobe owned the vector graphics bezier patents, so Macromedia couldn't build a GUI editor for their Shockwave platform, which was sort of C++ territory, for making CD ROMS. Not used a lot because of the manual type of input required.
Macromedia bought flash as a cheapo animation program with some strange usability ideas (such as applying boolean intersects to overlapping objects without asking you), but combining this legally-released and patent-free GUI editor with shockwave export capabilities made shockwave accessible to non-technical users. Who would pile on loads of effects, run it natively as an app to test, and then deploy it in a web plugin which runs far less efficiently. That's not exactly Flash's fault, but the fact that they've just ported it wholesale a whole bunch of times without a proper human rewrite makes for evil performance, a problem you don't have with javascript. You don't have to get what Adobe want to give you as a binary, like it or lump it.
iOS ***** in many ways, the fact that you have to reverse engineer everything and crack if you want to get even the most basic level of customisability and extensibility that you would expect on any decent computer is genuinely frightening. That device could also be up to absolutely anything behind your back, and you'd be none the wiser staring at the GUI. Just trust apple. Or ask somebody who has been prodding around in there with a sharp screwdriver.
Neither Adobe nor Apple have an entirely ideal character for the relationship to have worked. Adobe own a shedload of patents when it comes to the maths behind image processing technology. Adobe Postscript is built into OSX, comes from NeXT. Mr Jobs lost his rag with Adobe when Adobe forced Apple programmers to work on the code related to PostScript in some sort of high security bunker, and wouldn't let them take away anything but binaries. This made the development work a massive hassle. The Apple programmers also suggested that a lot of the code was hidden out of shame rather than out of protectionism. Adobe's real strength is legalised monopolies on basic image processing technology, they've owned it since they turned over Paintbox's patents on alpha blending of pixels.
Been using Apple & Adobe products as my day to day workhorse stuff for over 20 years. Adobe used to be just as bad as the other software firms for generally mean behaviour, but they did write hand-optimised C++, and every year they'd raise the bar with features that you actually need. Each new version would save you weeks in a month.
Post-internet, whole different ballgame. Different setup, $bns at stake now. Land grab for the new ultra-consumerised computer technology. The good thing about consumers is that you can subject them to abuse, they get a yea or nay decision. Do you want what we're giving you?
These sorts of computer industry companies used to be toolmakers for the graphics industry.
Now they're supplying the communications technology for everything. Consumables plugged into every industry in the world. That sort of power is a corrupting influence.

  • XML Publisher support for BI Beans

Does XML publisher support all the BI Beans? I am interested in the gantt chart BI Bean and would like to know if it is supported. I know that there is support for all the different chart/graphs types from BI beans, gantt bean is not a graph type but a separate BI Bean.

    Hi Arone
    Missed your msg ...
You can achieve this, you'll have to use some XSLFO code for now but XMLP will support it natively in a coming release.
The height is fixed as long as you do not have too much data in which we will wrap the data and increase the height. We do not truncate data, which is what I think you are looking for. I have found a way to do this, the underlying XSLFO language of our templates has options to turn off wrapping and to hide overflow data. You can set these attributes in the cell and the text that will not fit into the cell will be hidden or truncated.
Add the foollowing to a field in your template:
    <xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="block" name="wrap-option">no-wrap</xsl:attribute> - this turns the wrapping off
<xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="block" name="overflow">hidden</xsl:attribute> - this hides the extra data, effectively truncating the data.

When will the bluetooth support audio alerts for email and text messages? It works when I get a phone call, but I'd like it to work when getting a text message (I do this a lot in noisier areas and would rather not have to look at the phone every few minutes)
Or is there a configuration option I'm missing?

When will flash builder support export to Windows Mobile OS?

I think maybe VB was confused by you calling it "Windows Mobile," as Windows Mobile is MS's obsolete, abandoned Mobile OS for pre-iPhone era with a stylus and all that, I am assuming you probably meant "Windows Phone" / Windows 8 Metro UI / Windows RT, the new iPhone-like MS Mobile OS.

  • HT202157 When will Apple TV support Amazon Prime Instant Video?

When will Apple TV support Amazon prime instant video?

Most of the YouTube video subtitles are inserted by flash. Unfortunately, ios OS products don't support flash. If you do want to play them with subtitle, maybe you can use a video converter to help you convert YouTube videos to Apple TV. The only thing you should make sure before the conversion is that the videos that you download is bearing the subtitle, then the converted files would have the substitles as well. Hope that would help.
