When will you get a norton tool bar compatible with this? I like to use my identity safe and it doesnt work with this version

on my other version of firefox it gives me a tool bar with my norton stuff and one to access my yahoo page and mail. I would use this alot more if I could get that here. instead I get error messages every time I start up

You are talking about Norton Safe Web, right? Well you have a way -
Download Add-on Compatibility Reporter
(https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/)
and restart Firefox. Restart Firefox again and Norton Safe Web should be enabled.

  • When will a patch for Norton tool bar and Firefox 30.00 be available.

Version 30 is incompatible with the Norton toolbar. When will a patch be available?

You message says the Norton toolbar version you have is incompatible with Firefox 30.0, not the other way.
About the only good thing with Norton is that they have had a Live update patch for their toolbar extension ready within a day of a new major Firefox release ever since Fx 5.0
Unlike with most extensions, the extensions that tie in with say a antivirus on Windows needs to be updated for each new major Firefox version .exe.

  • Is there a Norton Tool Bar compatible to FF 9.0.1?

My add on for Norton's Tool Bar Version 2011.7.8 has been disabled because it is not compatible to FF 9.0.1. Is there a updated version available?

I have run Live Updates a few times now to no avail. I still cannot get Norton Toolbar on Firefox (or those green and red icons for safe sites next to search results).
I have it on IE. But not Firefox.
In my add on area the Norton Toolbar is grayed out and the version says 2011.7.0.8
and the Symantec IPS 3.0 is grayed out also. Both say they are incompatible with firefox.
    On another Firefox article at:
    http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Firefox-9-Support-for-Norton-Toolbar/td-p/615563
    It says this:
    * Norton Internet Security 2012 (19.2) Norton Toolbar: 2012.2.1.6 (previous version) -----> 2012.2.2.5 (updated version)
    * Norton Internet Security 2011 Norton Toolbar: 2011.7.3.6 (previous version) -----> 2011.7.4.3 (updated version)
I can't get rid of those old versions on the Add-on section. So maybe this is why the toolbar cannot be upgraded. I notice in the "get add-ons" there isn't a toolbar for norton (guess it comes with norton). So this must be an issue with Firefox.
At least it works on IE.
Sure hope Firefox can fix this or let us know what else can be done.

  • My word files are all corrupted- when i open 'get info' under "More info" they all have 'Photos for Personal Use or Home Display" and Authors: technology

My Word files are corrupted. When I open 'Get Info' then 'More Info' I find 'Photos for Personal Use or Home Display' and 'Authors' : Technology. - Nothing to do with the file I'd just written. My most recent files can't be saved or opened.
Is this Malware or some other kind of attack?  I grabbed photos yesterday from what seem to be freely available pictures online.  I discovered Firevault and Firewall were both turned off. (I hadn't checked before.)  Any suggestions?

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Norton Safe Search and Identity Safe taskbar don't work with FF 4.0

When I upgrade to Firefox 4.0 my Norton Safe Search and Identity Safe task Bar disappear after installation. There is a pop-up that say a supported version of the add-ons for the following. My current add-ons are "Norton IPS 2.0" and "Norton Toolbar 4.6". As a result they disappear and I can no longer use them. These came with my Norton 360 and I prefer to use my this password manager instead.

Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
If you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

  • When will you get rid of the resource hog, "Plugin-Container.exe"

Plugin-container-exe has a memory leak. When you go in and out of numerous web sites, it consumes more and more and more memory and turns my computer into a dog. Since the inclusion of the plugin-container, explorer is now a better browser.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== The last update that included plugin-container.

Are you serious that this is your "solution"? I did as you suggested -- changed the flags to "false" -- and now I restared Firefox with a mere 10 tabs open (no videos; just a few text pages, gmail, yahoo finance, barrons.com) and Firefox is consuming 1.1 gb of RAM. What's the reason behind this? It looks like whatever resources were being swallowed by plugin-container.exe are now being swallowed by Firefox itself, so that doesn't solve the problem.
Is Firefox a good idea taken too far? When it began, the Firefox project was a fast, nimble browser. Is it now too bloated and convoluted to be of any use? Is it a victim of its success?

  • My Norton Tool Bar became deleted somehow. I need it so my Norton Internet Security Auto Fill feature will work. How do I get this back on the menu bar?

My Firefox Browser page use to have a Norton Safe Search Bar within the tool bar area. It has to be active thereon otherwise the Auto Fill feature of Passwords for websites I visit - which require my user name AND password - will not be filled in automatically by the Norton Internet Security 2011 software that I have on my computer.
My Question: HOW do I get that Norton Search Bar back on my Firefox Browser Page?

I had the same problem before, but i figured it out. This answer might be a bit late now....
    1. Open the Norton program.
    2. Scroll under PC protection and select Run Live Update
    3. Repeat step 2 until there isn't anymore updates available.
    4. Restart the PC
    5. Open Firefox browser
    6. If the toolbar isn't there, press Ctrl+shift+A
    7. Under extensions enable the Norton toolbar.

  • When will you make Firefix compatible with Google tool bar?

Clicked your update in error. Now can't use Google toolbar.
When will you fix your browser

You have it backwards. Google (and other 3rd-party vendors) must make their products compatible with the browser.
    '''<u>Some Background Information</u>'''<br />
Included with every Firefox extension is a file named install.rdf. In that file is a parameter "em:maxVersion" which indicates the maximum Firefox version with which the extension '''<u>has been tested and approved by the developer</u>''' (Google, in this case). Only the developer (Google) is responsible for changing that parameter. Firefox enforces that parameter.
That said. Google and all other developers know where to find the Firefox release schedule for new versions and where to find the test versions (beta) to use to test their product. The location of the release schedule and the beta versions '''is no secret'''. Firefox 5, and all other versions, underwent several weeks of beta testing, during which third-party developers (Google) had an opportunity to do their testing and make necessary changes to make their product(s) compatible. In addition to the 4 weeks of beta testing for Firefox 5, Google has had an additional 19 days since the release of Firefox 5, to make their product compatible. '''<u>Ask Google what is keeping a compatible release from being introduced.</u>'''
'''<u>Google MAY be ceasing support for their toolbar in Firefox.</u>''' See the list of supported browsers in the following:
    '''<u>An add-on that may help</u>'''<br />
Many users have found that installing the following add-on will restore some (maybe all) functionality for Google's toolbar.

Are you going to reestablish compatibility with the Norton tool bar?
Version 4 seems to have lost this compatibility, which version 3 had.

  • My norton tool bar has not loaded when I switched from IE to Firefox

My Norton tool bars, for phishing and Identity Safe, disappeared when I switched from IE to Firefox. I reloaded Norton to see if this would help but nothing changed.

You can import the IE Favorites via
*Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Data from Another Browser
You can also export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.<br />
That way you also preserve any sorting that you may have done in IE with the Favorites.
    * Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
    * Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File
    See also:
