When would be Visual Composer NetWeaver 2004s available?

Hi Friends,
Could you anyone(may be forum author - greg) tell me when would be Visual Composer 2004s available for use on production. I found couple of download pieces in the service.sap.com. It is said as Base, Flex, etc.
Thanks,
Raghavendra P

Hi Thomas,
Unfortunately, I am unable to find the Role 'VCRole' in our portal installation.
Is this role comes as a default with the portal installed roles? or should be created new one entirely??
Following is the path where I searched for the role VCRole.
UserAdministration>search iview->searched for 'Roles'
Please clarify
I am using NW04S(SP06)
Thanks

  • When to use Visual Composer

    Hello,
I am little bit confusing, as said in the Netweaver developers guide, VC is used in less complex applications and Web DynPro in more complex apps.
So, How one can decide which is less complex and which is not??. How to measure the complexity and in which terms??
How to decide between webdynpro and VC??. How far it is successful, VC??.
Thank you very much for the help.
    Regards,
    Raj.

    Hi Raj,
after having a short exposure to both WD and VC, I think VC can be used for fairly simple applications which you can develop by using tables and forms as the UI elements. The customisation possibilities of VC are thus quite limited.
The main difference between WD and VC is the intended audience of them. VC is aimed at the non-programmers or analysts who just want to quickly model a UI for a BAPI / several BAPI's jointly, for example. With WD you have many more doors open. You can make very customised applications and in general have more control on what you are doing since you're working on the code level.
I think you could find an analogy for the two technologies from the early days of html page development. There were some wysiwyg (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) tools which didn't require you to do any coding but weren't very flexible. Whereas on the other hand, the more serious web developers did their pages by coding straigt html and javascripts on their pages.
So if you have a simple application e.g. for creating sales orders and calling a single bapi, I'd go with VC if there's no customisation. But if you have a bigger sales order tracking tool with different options, I'd go with WD instead.
Bear in mind also that with WD you can create standalone applications on the WAS without needing a portal. So if you are creating apps with VC, they have to be deployed on a portal.

Actually I want to show the GetList values in the first iview & GetDetil values in the second iview. • Approach in working with NetWeaver 2004s BI Business Content

    Hi,
I was able to find the Netweaver 2004s BI Help documentation for the business contents available for the Industry Sector that I am working on. It is using the correct terminology, for example, instead ODS it is saying Datastore object. Would that mean the NetWeaver 2004s BI version is compatible to any R3 system versions for that Industry Sector?
Would you cautiously test this BI version to that of the R3 Indusrty Sector version before you actually implement and integrate both for real? Or would you just implement it and resolve issues with OSS during the implementation and integration? How would you a pproach this?
    Thanks

I am actually working with the Industry Sector 'Media Enterprise' and not 'AFS'.
I totally agree that you would have to test test test and work with SAP through OSS. You can't sit there worry about the unknowns and blow things out of proportion and accuse others of being new to this kind of work. You can't be narrow minded about these things and insist on selling 3.5; you got to be on top of things if you're going to call yourself Mr. and Mrs. Victor and Victoria PeopleWannabeManagerTheGreat
Anyway, there are no new implementations doing 3.5 anymore while 7.0 has already been released 1 year ago. It's not rocket science. We have a sandbox that is 3.5 and we could have installed nw2004s on this thing and test the heck out of it, but nooo... it is still 3.5; I tell you...Technical people want to put their misery out in no time by beating the heck out of this thing until they get it to work, but non-technical people want to create misery for others by talking and pointing talking and blaming and pointing until ...they become Senior Mr. and Mrs. Victor and Victoria PeopleWannabeManagerTheGreat. (That's funny...)
    I smell envy...;-)
The highlight of the day for me...thought I'd throw out some humor if anyone would find it amusing.

  • Netweaver 2004s installation problem on Windows: Oracle 10G

    Hi Friends,
I would like to install Netweaver 2004S(with usage types AS ABAP, AS JAVA, BI, BI JAVA, EP & DI) on a server which has Windows 2003 server OS running on it.
The server has 6GB RAM and has 5GB of free space on C: and a free sapce  of 60GB on H: & 50GB on I: respectively. The database that is to be used is Oracle 10g.
Do I need to install first SAP solution manger 4.0 on this or Can i proceed with Netweaver  2004 S installation???
I am installing a central system.
First I tried installing SAP solution manger 4.0 on this system and it went successfully. Now when i am installing Netweaver 2004s on the same machine, during installation I am asked whether to "install a MCOD or create a new database for this installation".
I chose Install MCOD and proceeded  further with Installation. But my installation is taking a lot of time while executing the service :"Creating database schema". The message which i get on status bar is " Removing schema user SAPSR3" and the status remains the same.
Have any of you faced this problem ? Please let me know how you have proceeded further.
Before starting the installation  one of the prerequisites " SWAP SPACE VALUES" for installation was not satisfied by my system  and even then i proceeded with the installation.
Is it because of this SWAP space problem , my intsallation is strcuk?? or what could be the reason fo this?
    Thanks
    Diwakar

    Hello Diwakar,
If you are just installing NW2004s then it is not mandatory to install Solution manager.
To increase the swap space --
Right click my on computer ->Select Properties -> Click Advanced Tab ->Click Settings (performance) -> Select Advanced Tab -> In virtual memory -> Change
you canIncrease swap space/page file here.
Do not install the system as MCOD, make the seperate database.
    Do revert for further doubt.
    Best Regards,
    Sachin.

  • How to upgrade NetWeaver 2004 SS19 to 2004s SPS10????

    Hi,
I cannot find any useful information on HOW to do this.  Some links I follow eventually lead me to this page:
    https://websmp201.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001130682005E
which say that if you're running NW2004 SS19, it must be upgraded to SPS10.
Furthermore, NW2004 uses SAPINST, but NW2004s uses JSPM.  I can find info on updating NW2004 and NW2004s installations, but how do i get the stack from NW2004 to NW2004s????
Any help would be MOST appreciated!
    Thanks!
    David

    Hello David,
The upgrade tools are able to include SP Stacks of your target release into the upgrade procedure:
    1. The tool checks your current SP Stack and gives you the information which minimum SP Stack level you should use for your target release (the so-called "equivalence Support Package level"). This Support Package must be included so that no data is lost in the upgrade.
    2. You download the required SP Stack level (or a higher level) from SAP Service Marketplace and enter in the GUI of the upgrade where your SP Stack files of SAP NetWeaver 2004s are located on your hard disk.
    3. The tool will then upgrade your system from SAP NetWeaver '04 to SAP NetWeaver 2004s and also apply the downloaded SP Stacks.
So, the result of the upgrade in your case would be an SAP NetWeaver 2004s SP Stack 10 system, no manual patching would be required as part of the upgrade.
For more information, see the upgrade guide for SAP NetWeaver 2004s (available at http://service.sap.com/upgradenw2004s). There, also the Upgrade Master Guide is available that provides further information concerning the planning of your upgrade.
I hope this information helps to get an idea of the overall procedure.
    Best regards,
    Boris

  • Problems with installing Netweaver 2004s SR1 Developer Workplace with MS

I get the following errors when I try to install Netweaver 2004s SR1 Developer Workplace with MS SQL Server:
    saploc does not exist
FJS--0003 TypeError: this._name has no properties in script NW_Workplace

    Hi
I think you must be geting this error soon after givening the java cd path.If this is true then the problem is with your JDK.Usually this kind of error appears during the installation if there is some incompatibility between what is required and written in the instaaltion scriot and what actually you have installed(i mean version incompatibility also)
Please make sure that you have taken correct CD's and JDK
