When you buy a gift card, can it come in a digital code?

I want to use my American Express card to buy a ITunes gift card, but I don't want it to be shiped as a card. So can the code be emailed to my recipient?

Scroll to the bottom of the main page of the iTunes Store or App Store.
Tap Send Gift.
Sign in to the iTunes Store with your Apple ID.
Type the email address for the person you're sending the iTunes Gift to.
Tap an amount you’d like to gift or type another amount.
If you want to, add a message.
Pick the day you want to send the gift.
Select a theme for your gift.
Tap Buy, then tap Buy to confirm.

In the text box, enter your 16-digit code which starts with an "X". (If you have an iTunes Gift Card, this is printed on the back of the card).
But no code is included in the receivers email when notifed about the giftcard. And they only way to 'redeem' it is to have a code. Am I missing something?

No, I cannot recall ever seeing a new Mac shipped with a fully working version of iWork. Maybe a 'trial' version? Not even sure there. I have always had to purchase these programs if and when required. Apple are already selling their OSs for over $100 less than they used to be. So do you seriously believe that they will just give away every other Software package that they create?

Most in-app purchases can be made with a gift credit balance, yes. I've paid for a number of app upgrades with a gift balance. The only ones I've run across that can't are automatically-renewing subscriptions, some of which require a credit card on file.

Probably all depends on your past experience, but I'm getting a new Macbook Air next week, and I will be purchasing Microsoft Office. I have been using Word and Excel for years, and know all of the tricks, bells, and whistles, so just really don't want to go through a major learning curve to figure out how to use a new word processing and spreadsheet processing system.
I've had a little experience with Pages on my iPad (which I know is not even a close comparison to what is on the Mac), but I'm just more comfortable with Word.
So, I'd say depends on whether you want something that you are comfortable with, or something that is a new adventure! What's your pleasure?

You should have the ability to buy E-Gift Cards on BestBuy.com, which would be quite similar to a physical gift card, but in a digital version. You may check them out here. If you are an international customer, you would want to follow the instructions here for placing your order.

My sister and I have been having problems with our ipods. We both have the touch and because our dad bought both our ipods and our ipods were under the same name it was starting to sync eachothers music to each ipod instead of seperate. we also wanted to use 2 different credit cards. so we thought the best solution would be to just create her, her own account. Everything went smoothly and i realized there was an option to not add a credit card, being that shes under aged and only buys with gift cards anyway. Now im struggling because i entered her gift cards into her acount and every time she goes to buy a song it says confirm or varify billing information. I have tried re entering her account info, i tried adding a credit card, ive tried several things and it is not allowing me to varify the account and will tell me that my requist is unavailable at this time....
does anyone know how to fix this problem soo she can buy songs

well if the ipad is on your itunes account then her apps and music etc will be billed to you. but if you give her gift cards you should take off your credit card because itunes won't tell you when you are all through with your gifted money and are back to useing your credit card until after you have made a purchase
