When you print from an ipad, can you print to the 8x11 tray?
My grandfather has an ipad and an hp photosmart printer. When we print from a computer, it goes straight to the 8x11 tray and prints on normal sized paper. When we print from the ipad it goes straight to the photo tray and prints on photo paper. I know that for iOS, airprint doesn't support tray selection and just prints to whatever tray 1 is. Is there a way to change it on the printer so that the 8x11 tray reads as tray 1 and we can print from the ipad to the regular printer paper? We've tried just removing the photo tray, and that doesn't work.

Well luckily you dont have to go changing any settings to default specific trays to different settings. Just download the HP Home and Biz app from the app store for free. It has the ability to set the paper size used

What version of iOS are you using? Some people were having this problem before, and it was fixed when they updated to iOS 5.

ThanksInstalling the new os may have tricked one of the three devices involved. If it used to work, it will again.
Reboot the printer. Reboot the router. On the pad, general, reset, reset network connections.
Make sure all the devices are on the same wifi network. Talk nice to it. -

I am looking for a simple way to print from my iPad to the printer connected to our in-home network without buying a new printer or requiring that one of my computers be used as the "server." I looked into Printopia, but it appears to require going through one of the printers that is already connected via the network to our printer.
Bummer. Just when I think Apple has dealt with everything, I have an issue that they have not addressed. I'm not clever enough to know why they have not made this feature a part of iOS, but it seems a pretty simple idea. If my desktop and laptop can communicate with my printer through my wireless network, it would seem a logical extension that my iOS devices could as well. Oh well...

Printing from mini ipad to hp310 printer
When I try to print from my mini ipad to hp photos smart c310 printer, I get an error saying "mismatched paper" and a blank piece of paper comes out. I am using an 8x11 paper. Does anyone know how to correct this?

Are you using AirPrint to print your photos?
AirPrint has limited options when it comes to paper size. AirPrint's default print setting is to print photos from the photo paper tray and other documents and web pages from the plain paper tray.
If you have placed the 8x11 paper in the plain paper try and are using AirPrint, this is most likely the reason for the mismatch error.
If you download the HP e-Print app from teh app store, you'll have the option to select the paper size you want for photos. There are setup instuctions here for e-Print on Apple devices.

When restoring phone from iTunes backup can you choose what to put back on phone?
I got the iPhone 6 Plus and instead of restoring from iCloud backup I have to restore from iTunes backup, but I don't want to include my music just to have some more space left on my new phone. Is there a way to restore without my music??
Perhaps I've just confused everyone. In iTunes your media can be checked or unchecked. Unchecked items are usually not synced. By unchecking media in the library before restoring a device that was previously set up to include media it should be the case that no media is restored during the sync. Once the restore is complete you can then adjust sync options, recheck your content and sync your new selections. Since an entire class of media can be checked or unchecked with a simple ctrl-click this has the potential to speed up the restore phase considerably.

Does your printer support AirPrint - the models that support it, and some troubleshooting for it, is on this page. If it's not an AirPrint printer then does the printer manufacturer have their own app in the store that you can use, or there are third-party printer apps such as Print Central For iPad and Print n Share which might work.

I just bought a Kodak Hero 9.1 printer. Is it possible to print from an iPad to this printer? If not, I'll have to buy a suitable, and cheap, alternative printer.
