When you update Camera Raw do you need to update DNG converter too?
I have Photoshop CS4 and wanted to update Camera Raw. I have forgoten if you need to update the DNG converter too or just leave it. Im also looking for tutorials or " how to use" stuff for the new features the lastest versions of Camera Raw (5.5 and 5.6). Thank you.

If your camera is already supported by ACR, you don't really need the DNG converter. If you prefer to convert to DNGs or your camera is not supported, then you probably should download the latest version of the converter.

I've just installed CS6 creative suite mainly for photoshop CS6. It comes with camera raw 7.0.something, but need something newer to use my canon 6d. When I download camera raw 8.5 and install the raw converter doesnt work anymore, wont even open or isnt available anymore in the plugin list. Tried to reinstall everything for a few times, but nothing helps.
When I search for updates the raw converter doesnt get update automaticly. Frustrating, is costing me the whole morning.

I have PSE6 installed on my MacBook Pro - OSX 10.6.8 (SnowLeopard) - and I now have a Fujifilm HS20 EXR, but I cannot use the RAW mode as PSE6 doesn't recognise my RAW files.

How to keep original aspect ratio when cropping in Camera Raw? Cant figure it out! With shift, the aspect ratio is 1:1. But I didnt set it to 1:1 (I checked "normal").
The Shift key works once you’ve set your crop ratio. DSLRs would typically do 2:3 and others sometimes do 3:4.

I downloaded the latest camera raw version, 8.2, but my DNG convetor still only reflects 7.1, why won't my DNG convetor update to 8.2?
dng converter and cr are two different programs.
while they both do the same thing, the dng converter is a stand-alone app that does not install into another adobe program and cr installs into another adobe app like photoshop, lightroom etc.
and the latest version (as of 6/25/14) is cr 8.5.
download the dng converter is you have an app that's to old to accept cr 8.2 (or cr 8.5).

When I choose camera raw in bridge I get a Camera Raw editing is not available!

When I choose camera raw with the circular icon in the top right hand corner of the bridge CS6 layout I get a warning saying 'Camera Raw editing is not enabled. Camerea Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature.' I have tried launching bridge in all the other Adobe products,uninstalling all trial versions from my computer and reinstalling all adobe cloud products, but still this warning comes up and I can't open jpeg and till images with Camera Raw as I did with CC5. No changes appear when batch editing Camera Raw Files and saving as jpegs
When I batch edit my raw files, including saving the file as a jpeg, from bridge or photoshop the resulting file saved never includes any changes I made in the Camera Raw editor. For example if I have lightened the photo by changing the exposure in Camera Raw as a saved jpeg after batching the file is still as dark as when originally shot. Is there some little box I forgot to check or something? Thanks!
andyI've seen something like this, but have not figured out why yet. In my situation I select a group of images in Bridge and go to Tools / Photoshop / Image Processor.
There I click the "open first image to apply settings" box.
Save in Same Location
Save as JPEG, resize to fit (1200 pixels), Convert Profile to sRGB.
No Action selected
Include ICC Profile
Run it and in Camera Raw roll the saturation down to -100 (convert to b&W).
Click "Open Image"
The process runs and the first image is converted to b&w, but the others are not.

Just downloaded photoshop cc on my pc, when using the camera raw filter noticed there are no descriptions for the sliders! Very difficult to edit photos. Already checked preferences. Anyone else have this issue?

There is a solution. Just install camera raw 8.6 to get support in Photoshop. Use dng converter 8.6 to convert the nef files to dng and import those in Lightroom if you want to use Lightroom to edit the raw files. It doesn't support the small "raw" files that the D810 generates but those are a complete and utter joke anyway and nobody should be using those, not even to save space.
>Update: I've just counted: there are 22 separate threads started in the last week asking why LR doesn't support the D810 and when will it be updated!
That must be a record. I don't think I have ever seen it as bad as with this camera. It must be incredibly popular or perhaps the change in the forum software is making it hard for people to peer down a few lines to see what has been posted already (I am being generous ;-) )
