I would think that it shouldn't matter if the ADE is 2.0 or 3.0.

I am using the most recent version of Adobe reader, have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times to no avail.

How To Change the Authorized Adobe ID

What do you do if your copy of Adobe Digital Editions is authorized with the wrong Adobe ID? This can happen if you’ve started using a different Adobe ID or you somehow messed up the authorization in the past.
If you’re trying to open an ebook when Adobe Digital Editions is authorized with the wrong Adobe ID, you’ll get an error message like: “License fulfilled by a different user” or something similar referencing licensing or authorization.
Important note: If you have some ebooks that do require your current authorization, those will become unreadable if you authorize with a different Adobe ID.
deauthorize
The first thing to do is deauthorize Adobe Digital Editions. This will remove your current authorization.
1. Open Adobe Digital Editions
2. On your keyboard, simultaneously press the Ctrl, Shift, and D buttons (if on Windows) or the Cmd, Shift, and D buttons (if on a Mac)
3. Click the “Deauthorize” button
After this you should close Adobe Digital Editions, and then open it again.

If you’ve followed the steps above, your copy of Adobe Digital Editions is no longer authorized.

I've been having the same issue! I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling ADE but that hasn't helped; I've even created a new Adobe ID and that was also a fruitless venture. I don't really know what to do. I download a book from my library and it then goes to my download folder in finder (I have a macbook pro). When I double click on the downloaded book to open, digital editions comes up and then I get the following message

To remove the book simply touch and hold the cover on the main page. A little pop up will ask, remove? Say yes. The book content will de deleted. The cover will remain on your main page with a little down arrow so that you can redownload it if you wan in the cloud view. In the device view, it simply disappears.
Note at the bottom of the page are a couple of switches, labeled cloun and device. The device switch shows you books on your device. The cloud page shows your whole catalog, and the down arrow allows you to bring down anything in your catalog to the device.

I am unable to open my downloaded library books in ADE. I have a Mac running Snow Leopard and want to transfer the books to a Kobo reader. Was able to load books perfectly until recently. I have tried trashing ADE and re-installing but have received the message that the version of ADE will not run with my current operating system. Tried resetting the Kobo reader and thought maybe it was not authorized but it appears in ADE when I plug it in. Any help would be greatly appreciated - getting very frustrated!

Hi, I bought an e-book in PDF format that uses Adobe DRM. I've created an account on adobe.com and tried downloading the book in Adobe Digital Editions on the Mac (as well as the bookstore's e-reader--logged into my Adobe account--on an Android device).
It tries to download the book but get's the following error:

Just recently downloaded the book The Extraordinary Leader. All of figures in the book are to tiny. Is the a new update to this book that can fix this?

You need to get in touch with the publisher of the book and alert them to the problem, like I did here. They should be able to update the book after which you can then redownload.
