Whenever I click on the Firefox icon a box pops up saying that Mozilla has crashed. I can't restart or quit because neither works. What can I do?

When I click on the Mozilla Firefox icon a grey rectangular box pops up that says: "We're sorry, Firefox had a problem and crashed. We'll try to restore your windows and tabs when it restarts. To help us diagnose the problem please send us a crash report." Then it gives you the option to Restart Firefox or Quit Firefox but the restart one doesn't work. What can I do?
This is what it's installed under: C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
I don't know if it's the file location or something but all I know is that every time I restart it the same grey box pops up and if I quit it then nothing happens. I'm at a loss right now.
Whatever information you need please let me know. Thanks.

I had a similar issue and this is how I’ve fixed it.

What version of iTunes are you using? An .itl file is something that Windows uses, or very old versions of iTunes on Mac. The library file on Macs is now .xml and has been since late iTunes 4.
Is iTunes running ok without any problems after you OK that message? If it is, then you may be able to ignore it if you can't account for why you're getting it. But make sure you take backups in case something happens in the future.

  • I upgraded to Firefox 4. Whenever I click on the firefox icon, msg appears - "ug-in object: TypeError: id] is undefined". Only when I click OK will Firefox open up and then work as per normal. How do I get rid of error msg.

I use an iMac OS X 10.6.7. After I upgraded to Firefox 4, this problem occurs.
Whenever I click on Firefox icon, message appears - "ug-in object: TypeError: id] is undefined". Only after I click "OK" in the error message, does Firefox open it and I can use it to browse as per normal.
I notice it took a long time to open up some websites.

That indicates that you are using an add-on that is not compatible with Firefox 4. For details of how to troubleshoot this to find out what one is causing the problem see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

  • I turn on my computer, click on the Firefox icon on my desktop, the web browser appears but the same screen always appears and says, "Well this is embarrassing" and says the problem is due to a previously opened tab.

I am online everyday. I turn on my computer and click on the Firefox icon. A web browser appears but not with my Yahoo! homepage. Instead of seeing my Yahoo! homepage I see a screen that says, "Well this is embarrassing." I read that the problem is due to a recently opened tab. It gives me the options of either restoring all previously used tabs from the last time of use or starting a new session. If I choose to restore previous tabs, I am further given the option to select which tabs I want restored and which ones I don't want to restore. I always choose to start a new session because all previous tabs consist of work that I have completed in the past (whether it be yesterday or the day before). I, therefore, have no interest in restoring a tab that contained an article about our current economic situation for example. As previously stated, I choose to start a new session every time I receive the "Well this is embarrassing" error message. When I choose this option, I am brought to a fresh tab with no information regarding work, articles, or entertainment from yesterday or some time in the past. I wish to have an explanation as to why this happens. I do not go on any malicious web sites or anything of the sort. This happens every single day. The automatic error message that appears is "Well this is embarrassing." For Firefox to say "Well this is embarrassing" is not close to the response it should give.

This can be a problem with the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

  • I need help: I've a macbook pro with Mavericks....when I click on the Firefox icon on the fox, it just jumps and then eventually invokes slowly. What can I do?

basically, when I boot up the mac, I click on the firefox icon...it just jumps and sometimes it executes. I probably would have to wait a bit for trying to get into the browser successfully. Anything I can do? Thanks

    Hi,
This article [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-takes-long-time-start-up] suggests that you
    #Change your homepage
#Check to make sure your extensions are up to date
    # Check to make sure that your antivirus allows Firefox
#Check to make sure that you have the preference "Do not load tabs until selected"
However, I would recommend that you close other programs and clear the cache of the profile to increase the load time. [[How to clear the Firefox cache]] A quicker way to do this if you do not have any immediate data to save is to Reset Firefox. [[Recovering important data from an old profile]]

  • After I double click on the firefox icon, firefox refuses to load. Why?

'''bold text'''I have windows 7. When I double click on the firefox icon on my desktop the circle moves around and around then stops and nothing happens

    Hi dizzydar,
You should look at [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox this article about that specific issue] and the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved]. These should give you all the information you need!
    If that doesn't work:
    # Type about:config in the address bar
    # Click ''I'll be careful, I promise'' if prompted
    # In the Filter input field type ''startup''
    # Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
    # Delete the text string and click ''OK''
    # Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • After right-clicking the Firefox Icon, a window pops up with one of the titles being "Frequent." Web sites are always being added to this section that I do NOT want. Is there a way to control the number of listings under "Frequent?"

After right clicking the Firefox Icon, a window pops up above the icon with three sections in it. Two are titled, they are "Frequent" and "Tasks."
The "Frequent" section each time I see it, has added previous sites that I have visited. This list then has lots of duplicates in it. I do not need that, and would like to keep this listing a a favored few.
Is there a way to stop having superfluous web-sites added to the "Frequent" list ??
    Thanks!

    See:

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I click on the FireFox icon and Inbox comes up as my search/browser. I want FireFox. How do I fix this?

It should be listed as an extension, so you can uninstall it using the add-ons manager. For details see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons
This help page from Inbox also shows how to uninstall it - http://toolbar.inbox.com/faq.aspx?faqid=2876&faqmod=WST_Install#2

I downloaded an update for my Safari web browser to "snow leopard". When I click on the .dmg file, a window opens up with a .pkg file but when I click on the .pkg file I get a prompt saying that it doesn't know what program to open it with.

I suspect if you're trying to open a file in 08 that's been opened in 09 the file has been updated to 09 and will not open in 08.

If you have a external USB enclosure - trying installing your hard drive in that enclosure and connect it to your usb port - restart your macbook while holding down the options key.  If you Macbook boots to your desktop then you have a faulty cable.  If you get the same error, then your hard drive just died on you.
    good luck.
