Whenever I close firefox and start it up again it stays in the same spot. It's nice when my computer has problems, but when I just want to start a new session it gets tedious. What do I do about this?

When I close my browser and open it up again it starts from the exact same place, which would be troublesome if i was doing online banking for example. If I close on a page it opens back up to the same page again.

Try changing your startup option to your home page or a blank tab here:

Firefox cannot open/reload any websites after resuming from a system standby. I have to close the current window and start a new session, then it works again

I am using Firefox v 13.0.1 (Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu canonical 1.0) on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Whenever my system resumes from standby I am not able to open/load any webpages in the Firefox session that was already running before the standby. I don't get any error message, but the page doesn't load at all. If I close the session and start a new one everything works fine.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs. 
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.

I experience a kernel panic whenever I close firefox and have to hard reboot my machine.

I am running Mac OS X 10.7.4 and Firefox 15.0.1 on a Macbook Pro 9,1. Almost every time I close firefox, the computer freezes completely and/or has a kernel panic, and in all situations I have to hard-reboot the machine. I've tried uninstalling other 3rd party apps and have sourced the problem to firefox. When I view the system report of the crash after rebooting, it says that the source of the crash was from a firefox process and something related to Nvidia Geforce. I was wondering if this may be related to the graphics switching on the new macbooks (I have a intel 4000 + a Nvidia 650m), however, I still get crashes when I turn off automatic graphics switching. My other thought was perhaps this problem has to do with hardware acceleration. Unfortunately, I tried disabling hardware acceleration in firefox and it still caused the computer to crash.
I'm happy to hear any suggestions! I don't want to have to switch to another browser, but using firefox 15 in its current state has made my computer unstable and unusable.

I can't register Spore and now I can't play it either, it just wants me to debug it then won't. What have I done? This game has been a pain from the start.

I bought this game some time ago but have never been able to register it. I even bought another one when they became cheaper but still can't register. I've tried every whichway and now it won't load either. It wants me to debug then it won't. I've tried trashing then reinstalling but no luck. The Spore creature creator won't play either. BTW please update your profile, you aren't using OS X 10.1.x. If you don't know what version you're using click the Apple Symbol in the upper left of this screen and select About this Mac. Once you know the version you can update your profile by clicking Your Stuff on this screen (upper right) and you will see the Profile link. This is useful so we can help you troubleshoot problems.
You can remove apps 3 ways.
Inquire with the developer to see if they have an Uninstall routine. I suspect this game does not.
Drag the app to the Trash
Download and install an app such as AppCleaner. You can find it at www.macupdate.com and search for AppCleaner.

best thing would be to turn imessage off on their device
also you can go into settings, imessage on theire device, go into send and receive and uncheck your phone number (on their ipods) that way if a message is adressed to your phone number, they will not get it

Sounds like it is hanging when you exit and later try to restart Firefox.

I'm running Windows Vista and this is the only program that has this problem. Another symptom is the program does not show up in my recently used programs list nor is it in the task list once I've closed it, though Windows will not open it because it thinks it's still running.

I am also using Windows Vista 64 bit and have the same problem..what i do is instead of rebooting the computer press CTRL ALT and DELETE key. start the task manager and go to the Process tab and look for firefox .exe click on it and hit the end process tab. close that window and firefox should run... and this problem started when i upgraded to firefox 3.6.12

Thanks for responding....but isn't your potential solution designed for Windows users? I have a Mac.
If it does apply to Mac, I am also hoping for something simpler as this could take weeks to isolate the problem and it would be more efficient to use another browser for mail

You don't need to restart your computer to open Firefox again: you just need to close it manually through your application manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC in Processes tab). Anyway, hopefully this support article is what you need:

What's probably happening is that you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem.
