Whenever I download something there is a little "Sharing" shell icon next to it.
Whenever I download something in Firefox, the file has a little Sharing icon next to it and if I right click it and click Sharing under the right-click menu it can get rid of it. However I want to get rid of this annoying icon when I download things. I'm incredibly enraged at this at the moment and I really hate having this annoying icon appear next to anything I download.
I don't have any download addons installed right now, just ABP, FVD, Reddit Enhancment Suite, Translator, and Roomy Bookmarks installed.
I have checked all over the settings and searched every corner of the internet, please don't give me some generic response to go to a troubleshooting page that has nothing to do with my issue.
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.

To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Installer process using up lots of memory whenever I download something
I've noticed that whenever I download something, my computer becomes very slow and will briefly freeze. This typically lasts 1-5 minutes, although sometimes the slowness persists after the stalling ends. I opened up Activity Monitor and saw that a process called "Installer" was using up to 100+% of my CPU and over 1GB of real memory during the times the computer would stall. I ran the lsof command to see what this Installer process was, and apparently it's from that awful Genieo scam. However, Genieo is not visible in my Applications and a Finder search revealed only "InstallGenieo" (version 1.0) and installgenieo.dmg--I don't think I ever actually fully installed it. If I double-click on "InstallGenieo", I get the dialog boxes "To open "java," you need a Java SE 6 runtime. Would you like to install one now?" and "Java Is Required To Run Genieo". This latter box has the options "Read more...", "Reinstall Genieo", "Install Java", and "Close". This leads me to believe that I never actually went through with installing it since I typically don't do any installations that require further installations.
I don't really have anything important on my computer since the majority of my files are either on Google Drive or have been emailed to myself (and so are recoverable). Is transferring everything to Drive a reasonable way of backing up my documents? I don't have an external drive since I really only go on the internet on my computer and don't play games or use other downloads apart from Anki. I'm asking this because I've hesitated on following the instructions for getting rid of Genieo given in other discussions since I'm not sure to what degree I should back things up. Also, since it doesn't show up under my Applications I was curious about whether the same steps needed to be followed (such as installing Genieo 2.0).
If someone could give insight on this or suggest alternative methods of removing this stupid thing, I'd really appreciate it.

When I download an app after purchasing it doesn't download and there is a loading symbol beside the next button.
In order to download to your phone over the air, you need to be connected to WiFi.
It's possible the Internet connection through Verizon is not stable enough for the downlaod to begin (it is a very large download).
You might want to head over to Starbucks with your laptop for the afternoon and see if you can download it over their WiFi. -
How do I uninstall an itunes account from an iphone? By accident we connected two phones to the same itunes account and now whenever we download both phones receive the download.
Settings > iTunes & App Store > Automatic Downloads > switch off what you don't want here

After updating to Firefox 14.0.1 my search results NO longer show the Norton WEB Safe Icon next to each result. It worked fine before the upgrade. The Norton tool bar is there and when you click on the site the safe web report is there but NOT the icon in the search results.
Norton released updates for Firefox 14 early the same morning as the release of Firefox 14. Norton usually releases updates on the same morning as new Firefox versions. Have you updated Norton through their LiveUpdate?

On his mother's phone (4s) there is no moon. SO he doesn't get updates from the rest of the family on events we talk about. Is this as simple as updating the DO NOT DISTURB or is there a list somewhere in FAVORITES (contacts) that he needs to update too?
He likely has the Do Not Disturb feature on, but only for select people, and the people you mention that are in the conversation, are likely people your nephew has added to the group under do not disturb.

Speed drop out whenever I download
I am experiencing an annoying problem. Whenever I download something regardless of speed, every web page I try to open time’s out as if I have no internet. I went to speedtest.net & ran a speed test while I wasn’t downloading & it gave me a speed of 30mbps & upload of 7mbps which is kind of annoying considering I was getting 22mbps on standard broadband. The ping gave me 15ms which was expected. But then I initialized a download that was running at 180kbps as it was the max speed for a free user of the site I was downloading from & I ran the speed test again & it times out. No internet what so ever during the download. It also happens when I’m streaming movies from Netflix. I find it impossible to use the net if someone is streaming upstairs & there’s no way I am able to stream a movie into 2 devices at the same time. I had no problems streaming onto 4 devices at the same time with standard broadband. Someone said I was being throttled as soon as downloading started or my speed reduced. If this is the case then I think I am going to cancel my package because when something is stated as no speed reductions & unlimited, that is exactly what I expect.
I wonder if you've been sent a dodgy router as your speeds should not drop to the point of making the service unusable,i would expect some degridation if your heavily using it on multiple devices but not with just one device and especailly at such a low speed of just 180kbps.
Which service are you subscribed to Fibre(25Gb cap), Fibre Unlimited or Fibre Pro?
How are you connected Wireless or wired?
Can You post your Router stats?
Can you post the results of a wired speed test? -
Little green phone icon/trouble connecting audio chat
Hi,
I'm trying to get audio going with my mom and her 15" iBook. She's 10.3.9.
We're both using Comcast. Speed check on mine say 2.5 megabits, and hers says 3.1.
Anyway, we just can't seem to connect. I notice that her "little green phone icon" next to her name is... I guess... "flat". Mine and (another buddy) look like they're "layered", and I don't have any trouble AV chatting with him, even when I was in China.
After the audio chat fails with Mom, her green phone icon gets grey.
I've done alot of looking, and spent some time looking at Ralph John's site too. But I can't seem to find any direction. I have not stopped by Mom's house to try to figure it out- I should go visit her anyway!
Anyone have any thoughts (or direction)?

I finally got over there to look at it. After reading a post this morning that had me unplug her modem for at least a half hour - up to 12 hours, I got her AX going. (Her wireless was my other issue...)
That let me get both of us a connection. I checked her settings although I'm not 100% what they should be. I was able to sit there and show her what buttons to click.
My point is, I think I got it resolved. Maybe it was just that her modem was a problem and the AX took care of it, or maybe it was something else I did. In the end, I wasn't getting her audio through my speakers (i got my iSight as my audio out, and her side was fine)...
This is a different quest, and I'll do some research before I ask, but... I never actually got to chat with her because I've set up my Bluetooth headset to work on my machine, and iChat couldn't find it, cause I left it at home!
Thanks again for your help, and I'll definitely be back when I have other issues (or answers) with iChat.

The company I work for has given me an iPhone, but I haven't been able to download any apps. I've created an apple ID account, it claimed that it had been verified, but everytime I go to download something, it verifies again and claims there's an error. I've tried this now with 3 different emails, and the message reads: go to the iTunes support page. I've emailed Apple, and they were extremely unhelpful. I was given the most vague responses by Bidyut from the iTunes Store Customer service team. I would just like to be able to use this phone since I'm paying for it.
It might be helpful if you told us exactly what the error was... If you don't give us specifics, the best you're going to get is vague responses.

MPlayerX isn't itself the problem; it was downloaded from a source that packaged adware with it. Click here and follow the instructions, or if desired, run Adware Medic.
