Whenever I print to my printer, a pdf is created....

No idea why, but when I got to print something to my default HP printer (or any other printer), a pdf is created...I then have to save it to my desktop and click THAT in order to print...any ideas???

I've never seen it before - I don't know if this will help, but try going into your Applications>Utilities folder and opening Java Preferences:
At the top, make sure that Enable applet plug-in and Web Start applications is enabled.
That may get rid of the pesky pop-up. You may (or may not) have to restart after you've enabled Java (at least restart your browser).
Hope this will get rid of it...

  • Printing a pdf document created in Acrobat Pro 9.0

Solved the problem of printing a pdf document created using Acrobat Pro 9.0 with SL - tried many different things form adobe etc and by accident discovered while in Acrobat you have to select ADVANCED in Print then click onto SAVE AS IMAGE in next box and then OK and all prints as it should. Just thought others may want to know this if they have had problems 1

I'm reviewing your post and while I see a fix, I can't locate the problem that you may have originally posted. Since I'm having issues, I'm hoping your's were the same.
Sometimes when I print an Adobe Acrobat 9.0 document, most of the printed word fail to print out (although they are in the PDF document). Almost all graphical elements print and the occasional line of text--but most text is missing. Was ti your issue?
    Thanks.

  • I'm trying to print a pdf I created and posted on my website, it looks good online but is missing data when printed, help.

I'm trying to print a poster I created and posted on my website, it was created in power point, saved as pdf, and uploaded using wordpress. It looks good online but is missing data when printed. It contains almost all the information except for about 6 lines, which happen to be important. Any thought are appreciated.

No its weird, everything was the same. I sort of resolved it, since he can view the PDF fine on his comupter but also wanted to print it, I just exported all the slides as JPEGS and made a new InDesign book with those on the pages and exported that as a PDF. Seemed to work for him, I just don't know what happened!

  • Printing to PDF just creates Text Document, not PDF

    Hi
I just tried to print a Book to PDF, and its just created a Text Doc listing the pages instead. This has happened on random docs recently and I can't work out why. I've never seen this before.
Does anyone know what I've done wrong?
    Thanks!

*edit - see Peters suggestion above (I didn't see the reply)
    Very strange.
Try selecting half of the documents and making the pdf (either printing or exporting or both) and then the other half.
See what happens. It might help to narrow down the document causing the problem.
If you're not getting any errors it could be that the size is just too big or something, and making two separate files works because it should be only half the size (in theory).
If you get errors in one of the half sized pdfs, you can half that again and keep doing until you find the document.
It could be the book file itself that is corrupt though? In the past, I've had to make a new book file and import all the documents again when problems arose.
I can't think of anything else, other than disk space.
If it's creating a text file to me it sounds like there is a problem with generating the pdf and the text file is an error report. Can you post a link to download the text file that it generates?
Usually these reports indicate some sort of font issue or a problem embedding fonts.
It's a little bit unclear what the issue is, but I hope these suggestions help somehow.

  • Setting Printer Acrobat XI Default to print all PDF files last page first

    Hello,
I have just recently upgraded to Mavericks and also have the Creative Cloud using Acrobat XI Pro. In using Reader 9, whenever I printed a PDF the output would print in reverse order, so all I would have to do is take it from the printer and hand it off; it would be in the correct order. How do I setup Acrobat XI Pro to accomplish the same settings (print in reverse order) on not only 1 PDF, but all PDF files? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John

Can a print preset be created that would work for all PDF files and not just the one opened? Just trying to find out since no one has answered my question in 2 days and Tech Support wasn't much help.
    Thanks,
    John

  • Printer shows an error but printed the pdf

    Hello everyone!
I have a very annoying problem with my Adobe Acrobat Standard.
Whenever I print a pdf, I get the pdf I wanted but the printer in the lower right corner of the screen does not disappear.
It says that their is one document that still has to be printed. And if I open the printer dialog there stands: Error - Printing and the symbol on the screen does not disappear till I cancel the printing job.
I had the same problem two weeks ago. And because it was so annoying I set up my whole windows system.
After that the printer worked for two weeks without errors.
But now it is the same problem as before. And I'm really getting crazy.
How can I solve this problem without setting up the whole system again?
The problem is that I can't only uninstall and the reinstall Adobe Acrobat, cause it is part of the software of my notebook and therfore I have no CD of it.
The problem appeared in Version 8.1.4. I have already updated to 8.1.5 but this made no change.
I hope you can help me.
    Denise

Sounds like the now "bog-standard" issue of the Adobe PDF printer using a port other than "*My Documents \*.PDF" or "*Desktop \*.PDF".
    Seen it many times.
You didn't say whether you were using XP or Vista so check the appropriate locations based on your OS for the following:
Look for your Adobe PDF printer in the "Printers and Faxes" section of the control panel.
Check the properties of the printer, specifically the port it's using. (On XP it's right-click on the Adobe PDF printer, select Properties, Ports tab).
If it's not either the My Documents or Desktop (one of them should be checked) that's your problem.
If you DO see those two ports as options, check one of them and then select "Okay" and you should be G2G.
If you DON'T see either of those two options the ports were not created during the setup (setup exited before the ports were created as part of a mess up in the MSI install routine) then you need to first close all dialogs, open Acrobat and select the repair option from the help menu.
Hopefully that fixed it, but if your printer ports are not fixed after doing a repair you may have to do a little more work.

  • Printing to PDF - file is corrupted by unreadable text

just recently, my Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro has gone haywire.  When I try to print a web page using Internet Explorer 9 and Print to PDF - it creates a file, but the text is unreadable.
My operating system is Windows 7 Professional.
Has anyone come across this before?
    thanks

Try unchecking the option 'Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts' from the Adobe PDF Settings tab within the Adobe PDF printer preferences dialog box as suggested in the article Missing or Garbled Text Printing from IE9 to Adobe PDF Printer.

  • Printing the PDF file of your iPhoto book

I am having a problem printing my saved PDF file. It comes out like the image was dragged across the page diagonally. I can print the file from Preview ok. Any ideas as to what is going on? Other PDF files - non iPhoto- print fine. Do I need yo worry about this for my book purchase as I understand it is via a PDF file?
    Lady Jane K

    Hi Lady Jane K,
Just experienced the very same problem, printing a PDF file created from iPhoto and viewed and printed from Adobe Reader 7.0.8.
Then I opened the PDF file from the Preview application and the printing now looks much better!
It seems that we have to print from the Preview app.
Did you print from Adobe Reader when having the problem?

  • Whenever I try to print a pdf document I get a message saying there  a runtime error, I have adobe r

Whenever I try to print a PDF document, I get a message indicating there is a runtime error, and for me to contact you. My system is Adobe reader 9.3

A runtime error is a computer error that appears in the form  of a message box consisting of a particular code along with its  corresponding definitions. Usually, a user will notice that the computer  becomes noticeably slow before a runtime error appears.
After the runtime error message has been displayed and closed, the software that shows this error would  normally close or freeze. In some cases, the operating system will  reboot.
A wide variety of errors cause these problems. These include:
conflicts between the TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident Program)
    currently running applications
    software issues
    memory problems
and harmful applications such as computer viruses
With this, the procedures necessary to correct this type of error  differs from one case to another. If the runtime error you are  experiencing were caused by a TSR then you can simply use the "end task"  function of the Task Manager.
If you consequently encounter a runtime error  that is persistent, the software that displays the error message has  certain issues and problems. You can resolve this problem by visiting  the website of the software's developer and downloading and installing  all the updates and patches needed for the smooth running of the  software. However, if you have already installed all updates and patches  and the runtime error message still appears, you can opt to uninstall  and reinstall the program.
Another type of runtime error is usually caused by memory issues. In  this case, it is a good idea to first contact the developer of the  application that caused the error message. More often than not, they can  provide you with a possible set of solutions. But if their given  solutions cannot resolve the issues, you need to contact the  manufacturer of your computer or motherboard and ask for a technician or  someone from the company who can assess your hardware.
A different type of runtime error is caused by harmful programs such  as viruses and other malicious processes. These harmful programs are  capable of altering the computer's settings. With this, they are very  much capable of generating runtime errors. In order to prevent runtime  errors that are caused by such malicious programs, you need to  frequently update your antivirus software. If your PC does  not have a good software security program, you need to install one and scan your computer for possible threats  to the stability of your system and the security of your private data.
What all that means is: There is something in the Adobe Reader that is not functioning properly once it is opened.
The best way to resolve this is to:
    1. Uninstall Reader (using the Control Panel).
    2. Download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (msicuu2.exe)
    3. Run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove the installer for Reader 9 (and previous versions if they are still installed).
    4. Download and install a new copy of Reader, and update it (if required) to 9.3.1.

  • How do I print to PDF in safari for iOS?

When I shop on my MacBook, I like to save my receipts as a PDF. This way I can easily search and consult them later, and don't have to go to the trouble of physically printing and filing them.  How do I do this when I make the purchases in Safari on my iPad 2? So far, I've only identified 3 options, none of which really meets my needs:
    1) Take a screen shot of the receipt page. This is unacceptable because the image file is not searchable the way a PDF is, and also because I can't always fit everything on one screen, meaning two images or more are necessary for one receipt.
    2) Make all my purchases through a 3rd party program like Print2PDF. Unfortunately, this means giving up use of Safari whenever I want to shop.
    3) Print out a paper copy of the receipt. Ick.
Is there a feature or option I'm missing? I just want to select Share > Print in Safari and be able to select Print to PDF.
    Thank you.

The PDF port is not sharable between systems, not even on the same machine. You'd need to buy a second copy of Acrobat for use in the virtual machine.

  • Printing to PDF Cuts Into Right Margin

I am having a problem where hundreds of reports generated by our CAD system print with a fraction of an inch missing from the right side of the report when they are printed to PDF.
    We use Adobe Acrobat 8.1.
I don't think this is a new problem but it was recently brought to my attention.
When ALL of these reports are printed to any of the 24 other HP printers we have in the building the right side of the document is not cut off. The problem only exists when the report is printed to PDF.
I am wondering if anyone has a solution that will allow these reports to print as they do on a regular printer - where all text is clearly visible. Is there a "shrink-to-fit" setting I don't see in the Adobe printer settings?
    Thanks,
    Matt

I did find a solution, but it does not resolve the problem.
I have several printers installed on my MacBook Pro. The truncation problem happens whenever the printer selected is my new HP PhotoSmart 7515.
But, if I change the printer in the dialog box to my Brother HL-4070cdw before I try to print to a PDF, then the document contents are NOT truncated!
So I found a solution, but it is not a perfect one.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Safari 3.0.4 crashes printing a pdf

Whenever I try to print a pdf page, Safari crashes. Is this a known problem? Is there a fix?
    I'm using a Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 Ghz with 2 GB of RAM running OS 10.5.1.

    Hi Eddie
Are you using Adobe Acrobat or Reader? Or are you previewing PDF files within Safari? If the former, only versions 8.1 are compatible with Safari 3. Either you'll need to update to the most recent version via Adobe's site, or deselect the PDF preference setting with the Adobe Preference file. This latter step will direct PDF's to Safari instead of Adobe.
Otherwise, next time Safari crashes, select "report", then copy/paste the entire crash report to your reply here. It's possible your print driver may not be fully compatible with Leopard.
