Whenever I restore or update all of my iOS devices (iPad 1, iPod touch 4, and an iPhone 4s), I get error 3194. I don't on another computer.
In the past, I have restored and updated my devices without a glitch/bug. However, recently, after the release of iOS 6, after upgrading my iPod touch and iPhone 4S, I started getting these errors. I thought it was iTunes, so I followed this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925, but it did not help. Then I tried restoring my iPod on another computer and encountered no problems. So I tried restoring my iPod touch directly after restoring it on my original computer. I still got error 3194 ( and other errors that I have since forgotten).
I am on Windows 7 pro, 64 bit.
Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

Won't update to 4.2.8, I get error 3194. I tried restarting my computer, and disabling my firewall but nothing is working. I dont have any security software or anything either, nor am I using a proxy to connect to the internet.
The single biggest cause of this on Windows computers are Anti-Virus software, Anti-Malware software & Firewalls. So, disable or uninstall all of that stuff & try again.

Only sync chosen songs. Even with that I had a bad song once that was corrupted and it blew the ipod touch's mind. Can't remember how I found the song, but deleted it off the computer and was able to get a fresh copy off this quite old CD. Also, settings-general-usage, you can see which files are gathering up in your memory. There are some surprisingly large programs.

Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
* If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:

If you just installed iCloud does that mean you updated the iOS that's running on your iPad? If so, you'll want to restore all the programs you have from the backup you hopefully made.

Unless the iPhone was purchased as unlocked very recently directly from an Apple Store (the only place in the US where unlocked iPhones are sold, and then only since June), which from the symptoms I doubt is the case, then it was locked to AT&T and jailbroken to make it work with an Irish cell carrier. Updating the operating system has now relocked the iPhone back to AT&T.
Only the cell carrier can institute an official unlock, one which will hold across updates of the operating system, and AT&T will not do so for any reason. All we can advise here is that you return the iPhone to your uncle and purchase an iPhone there in Ireland.

Can you help me? I updated my ipod touch 3g to 5.1.1 and itunes to the latest version. I then could not hear the sound with newly downloaded music albums. I decided to restore, backup and sync which took 9 hours. The ipod Touch froze and I could not unlock the slide bar nor turn it off. The ipod is turned on and that is all. What can I do? Thanks for any help you can give me.
try putting it into DFU mode...
hold down the home and power buttons for 10 seconds
let go of power button, the screen should go black in 5seconds
plug ipod in... do restore

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

I had the same problem with my iPad, i couldn't get the newer version of itunes because the computer was too old and my iPad couldnt sync with the old itunes. I got a PC from school a few months later so that solved the problem for me. Unfortunately i don't think there would be a program to put your music on your iPod, iTunes should be the only way to transfer files to Apple devices. What operating system are you running and what version of it is it?

I have a ipod touch 5 and when i was loading to my computer i chose to restore my data from my last ipod which did not have a camera. Then after all my music was uploaded i noticed that all the pictures i had taken on my new ipod had been deleted. I think it may be because i chose to restore my last ipod which no photos on it.
