Whenever i try to open firefox an alert comes up, then it crashes.

Every time I try to open Firefox, an alert box comes up that says this:Could not initialize the application's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the application and fix the problem. If you continue to use this session, you might see incorrect application behaviour when accessing security features. Then it crashes

Open your iPhoto Library package with the Finder.
look for a folder titled Import or Importing and move it to the Desktop. Launch iPhoto to see if the message goes away.  If there is no message  check the contents of the Import folder to see if you want to keep any of those image files (usually they have not been imported into iPhoto). If you want to keep them then drag the folder into the open iPhoto window to import.

    Hi there.
Out of nothing I get the following message whenever I try to open FireFox :
"'''microsoft (C) Register Server has stopped working'''"
Internet Explorer won't open either, but it doesn't give a pop-up or anything, it just pretends I didn't open it.
The only way I can open a browser now is by running it as 'administrator'
I've taken the following steps, none of which have had any effect
    - tried the DEP on trick in windows system
    - Fully updated win 7
    - Re-installed Firefox
    - reboot, reboot, reboot
    - searched online for solutions
    but..... :(

  • Ever since downloading Firefox 4, whenever I try to open Firefox I get the download Icon and disk and am not allowed to send it to trash as I have down in other downloads.

I downloaded Firefox 4 a while ago. I followed the instructions and tried to get rid of the Icon on my desktop and the disk. Whenever I try to do so I get a message stating that the disk "Firefox" couldn't be ejected because Firefox is using it and that I have to quit the application and try to eject the disk again. But whenever I try to open Firefox I get the download Icon (the one with the fox and the arrow) and the disk back in my desktop. Can I ever get rid of them?

Did you drag the the Firefox program from the disk image (DMG) to the application folder on your hard drive ?

  • Recently, whenever I try to open Firefox, I get a dialog box: Exc in ev handl: TypeError: brw is undefined (JavaScript Application). Firefox is definitely my default browser

    Question
Recently, whenever I try to open Firefox, I get a dialog box: Exc in ev handl: TypeError: brw is undefined (JavaScript Application). Firefox is definitely my default browser.
    After clicking OK Firefox opens.

Doesn't work out for me either, so I keep it disabled, because it slows down the searches, and it won't stream its additions onto the pages after the first page of search results. Streaming or page zipping allows me to scroll down to the next page of search results without selecting the page number.

  • Whenever I try to open Firefox it says cannot establish connection, maybe your firewall is preventing us from accessing the web.

Whenever I try to open Firefox it says cannot establish connection, maybe your firewall is preventing us from accessing the web. Even though I've let Firefox through my firewall, this message still appears. And whenever I try to redownload it, it just says installation failed. It does this with all installations... Is there something wrong with my computer? How do I fix it?

Sometimes you only disable the user interface of security software, but the firewall or anti-virus services are still running in the background.
It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Whenever I try to open iPhoto, a message comes up saying that 148 photos have been found in the iPhoto Library that have not been imported. It asks me if I want to import them and I say NO but then it places them in a recovered photo folder. I keep deleting the empty recovered photo files but it just keeps asking me every time I go to open iPhoto! I'd love to just get rid of the "found" photos (I can't open them anyway!)
How do I get rid of them so that I can just open iPhoto straight up without this?

  • Whenever I try to open Firefox to any website, or open a new tab, I get a blank tab that will not redirect to a website entered in the URL bar. Help?

I am on an HP pavilion running Windows7, and for the past couple of days, whenever I try to open the FireFox browser, or a new tab, all I get is a blank screen. The URL bar is empty, and gives the prompt: type an address. When I try to type in the address, and hit either the enter button, or the go button on the browser, I get a spinning circle, and then no response.

  • How can I get rid of a frozen updates window? I tried uninstalling/reinstalling latest software/rebooting. Window shows up whenever I try to open Firefox and will not close.

When I try to open Firefox I get an updates window for Cool Iris and Cool Previews. Options for 'skip', 'install,' 'more info,' 'x' to close window, nothing responds. I have to use the Mac 'Force Quit' command to close Firefox and get it off my screen. Can't minimize it either.

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode? <br />

  • Whenever I try to open Firefox the following window pops up: XUL Runner/ Error/ Platfor Version "5.0" is not compatible with/ minVersion =5.0.1/ maxVersion =5.0.1/ OK(button) What do I do to get Firefox to work again?

I have been using Firefox for quite some time (years). It tried to upgrade Firefox and since then have not been able to get it to open, each time it comes up with that popup window, with my only option being to click on the OK button, which terminates the operation.

The updater wasn't able to update all the files and some were left as older versions.<br />
    Do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • I recently updated Firefox, and since then whenever I try to open Firefox I get a Mozilla Crash Report, and Firefox never opens. I have uninstalled/re-installed, and no luck.

The long and short of it all is basically in my question, but if you have any specific questions I can answer for more help, please contact me at [email protected]

Use a clean uninstall tool like Revo Uninstaller to remove the program. After the program is removed go into your programs folder and delete the Mozilla software folder. The last step is to open up regedit, find HKEY...SOFTWARE tab and delete the Mozilla string. After you've done all of those things reinstall Firefox and you should be good to go.

  • Whenever I try to open firefox, I get this message, "A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time." I have the latest version, and do not have anything else opened. How can I fix this?

I cannot get my firefox application to open and it is not offering me any options for troubleshooting.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.<br />
See [[Basic Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting&#58; Make a new profile]]
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

  • When firefox is closed and all I see is desktop, if I look at Task Manager, processes, Firefox is running and utilizing about a gig of memory. If I try to open firefox a box comes up saying firefox is running and must be closed first?

This appears to have begun happening about the time of the Plug in container, but that is a guess. I do experience more firefox crashes now though. I just closed every item on my computer, was looking at desktop on screen, hit task manager then processes and FireFox is still running (as is plug in) along with other processes.
This is a bit perplexing. I am not an IT expert, but not computer illiterate. Any help will be appreciated

You have old versions of Flash and Java plugins, yous should update them to see if that solves your problem.
You can get Java from http://java.com/

  • What is it about Safeeyes internet filter that is causing Firefox to crash whenever I try to open it?

I recently got the Safeeyes internet filter for my PC. I have windows XP. Now, whenever I try to open Firefox, it crashes. Is there any way I can use the filter with Firefox? I uninstalled the filter and now Firefox is working.

I talked to several techs at Safe Eyes and they couldn't help me. Said their programmers were working on it. I uninstalled Safe Eyes yesterday and can now use Firefox some, but it is still crashing--just not as much.
My crash signature: mozalloc_abort(char const* const) | NS_DebugBreak_P | Initialize()

  • Every time I try to open Firefox now the UAC prompt comes up asking for permision to make changes to my computer and my firefox pages' home icon is now yellow, why?

I recently updated to Firefox 3.6.17. Afterward I closed Firefox and when I tried to open it again I got the "Firefox is already running, restart your computer to open" message. So I restarted and when I tried to open Firefox I got the UAC "permission to make changes to this computer" message with the shield and I clicked yes. when I tried again Firefox came up and when it did my home (the house) icon was yellow instead of its ordinary blue, Now whenever I close Firefox I then always get the "permission to make changes to this computer" with the shield message whenever I try to open Firefox again. Why and how do I stop that from happening? And why is the home (the house) icon yellow now? Is that normal?

Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.<br />
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".<br />
In the Compatibility tab, make sure that Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" is not selected.<br />
Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program directory.<br />
