Whenever I try to open Firefox the following window pops up: XUL Runner/ Error/ Platfor Version "5.0" is not compatible with/ minVersion =5.0.1/ maxVersion =5.0.1/ OK(button) What do I do to get Firefox to work again?
I have been using Firefox for quite some time (years). It tried to upgrade Firefox and since then have not been able to get it to open, each time it comes up with that popup window, with my only option being to click on the OK button, which terminates the operation.
The updater wasn't able to update all the files and some were left as older versions.<br />
Do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

* Uninstall your current Firefox version.
* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

We downloaded firefox 5.0.1 last night, began working with it. It did fine. After about an hour, I turned off my computer. When I turned on my computer, I click on Mozilla Firefox and it won't start. On the top of the above message is says XULRunner
I have exactly the same problem and my Zone Alarm Security software is causing the problem when I try to open Firefox, however this did not happen in any previous versions of Firefox I have had, including version 6.0.0
I would also greatly appreciate help on this one, or at least hope Mozilla will sort this out in another update. -

I'm trying to silently upgrade my environment to FF 7. I've gotten the silent install working great, it puts in my Proxy Server info, reassigns the home page and all that. But, the last version we pushed out was FF 3.5. If a user had that on their PC and they run the FF7 install, they get weird messages when clicking on the icon.

This is on Windows XPDo you have other virtualization or security software that might protect .ini and possibly other files in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) and prevent Firefox from updating them properly?

I'm, running WinXP Sp3. I downloaded 10.0.2 and installed it as an upgrade as I have done successfully with all other new versions. It installs, but when it tries to load I get the following error: Platform version '9.0.1' is not compatible with minVersion >= 10.0.2, maxVersion <=10.0.2. I then have to run Win Uninstall, and then reinstall 9.0.1 to be able to get back online.
If you use ZoneAlarm Extreme Security then disable Virtualization and reinstall Firefox.
