Whenever I try to open iTunes or QuickTime I get an "Application Error"...

Here's the deal this is the message I get immediately after clicking on iTunes to open:
"iTunes.exe - Application Error
The instruction at 0x6f437663 referenced memory at 0x6f437663. The
memory could not be read.
Click on OK to terminate the program."
And when I do the same to view a QuickTime movie:
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Buffer overrun detected!
Program: C:\Program Files\Quicktime\QuickTimePlayer.exe
A buffer iverrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's
internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated."
iTunes was working fine until today and started giving me issues so I went through and uninstalled, used the Windows Install Cleaner, restarted the comp and redownloaded/installed iTunes 7.5 and still the same thing. Any help is great... thanx!

  • When I try to open video files purchased through iTunes in Quicktime, I get the message: 'Error 23132: an unknown error occurred. This never happened until I updated iTunes, but when I try to go back to the previous version, I still get the message.

When I try to open video files purchased through iTunes in Quicktime, I get the message: 'Error 23132: an unknown error occurred. This never happened until I updated iTunes, but when I try to go back to the previous version, I still get the message. It is more convenient for me to play videos in Quicktime since iTunes is such a memory hog. Please help.

You may get better results if you switch to this alternate version: iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) and, if needed, reinstall QuickTime. The new (nearly) all 64-bit version doesn't seem to play well with QuickTime. Perhaps if DRM authentication is required QuickTime needs to be able to see something that is part of the older 32-bit code.

You could try downloading and installing 7-Zip (free) and downloading a fresh copy of the iTunes installer, unpack the installer into its components using 7-Zip then try a standalone install of AppleApplicationSupport. It may still fail to install but if so you may get useful error messages as to why not.

Open Application > Utilities > System Profiler and check the Quicktime version in Frameworks vs. the version in Applications.  One person had re-installed their operating system.  It had kept the newer Player application but had reverted to an earlier version of the underlying support framework files which many applications utilize.  Re-installing Quicktime 7.7 took care of the problem.  Do this manually, not with Software Update.

I would check with HP. Your scanner may need a firmware update and updated HP software. Start here:

  • Whenever I try to send a video iChat I get a communication error

New iMac with air port, iChat worked for first week. One day both iChat and Safari got communication errors. Contacted internet provider was able to reconfigure the system so that I could access the internet but have not been able to establish a video iChat session. Help
    thanks

    OK,
Rebooting the router or even using the Refresh DHCP lease would have done th same thing.
In System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming is it set to 1.5Mbps ?
If you have to change restart iChat (it should be at 1.5Mbps)
In iChat > Preferences > Video section > Bandwidth Limit drop down set it to NONE unless on Comcast, Road Runner or VeriZon FiOS in which case set it to 500.
This does not need a restart.
How are the ports iChat needs open in your Routing device ?
What is the routing device ?
    Make and model please.
