Wher do I find  Soft Focus in Aperture

Is there anywhere in Aperture to make Soft Focus adjustments to photo's.

Aperture does not have a predefined soft-focus tool. But you can simulate the effect by brushing-in the Blur-Adjustment. It is one of the Quick Brushes in the Adjustment pane of the Inspector panel.
Experiment with different brush sizes and softness settings. You will need to use different brush-strengthes depending on the distance from the focal plane.

I recently purchased Aperture from App store and this was running fine until I upgraded to Mountain Lion. Now when I start Aperture it asks me for a Serial Number . Where can I find this as it was a download and I have no packaging?

I also have this problem! Mine is also not from the App Store. I had purchased Aperture 1, then upgrades for both version 2 and version 3. It's annoying as it is, but I also have to enter my previous serial number as well since it was an upgrade.
Following this thread in the hopes that someone will have a solution.

I downloaded Aperture 3 from the App Store one year ago, it now asks for a serial number before I can open it, where can I find this?  Thanks.

    Hi...
Since it's been a year since you download the app, delete the app then re download.
Best to use a utility that will not only remove the app but all the associated files > Download AppCleaner for Mac - Uninstall your apps easily. MacUpdate.com
    Then redownload:
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed  then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

  • Re-loading aperture- where do I find the download site?

My mac pro crashed and burned.   I have since replaced with a new mac pro without DVD capacity. I have the aperture disk but no way to load it so need to find the apple site to download the software  on line.   I have the activation code for my original aperture software.  Where do I find the on-line download site?  All I can locate are the update sites.

There is no longer a way to download a full version of Aperture from Apple's sites, other than the most recent version from the App Store. Since you have the installer disks, try to borrow an external DVD reader or ask a family member/fried with a computer that still has a DVD drive to create a disk image from the DVD. hen copy the Disk Image to thumbs drive. If a Mac with a DVD drive is available on your local network, you could try DVD sharing.

  • Soft Focus Images From Canon EOS 1D Mark IIn

I am viewing soft focus issues with my RAW CR2 files coming from the above camera body. I accidentally opened a file in Canon's Digital Photo Professional and it was razor sharp compared to Aperture. A few historical facts. I have had the camera body calibrated to my multiple L lenses several times. I am using the latest firmware for the camera at 1.1.2 and the latest version of the OS at 10.4.10, Aperture 1.5.4, and DPP at 3.0.2. I have used another identical body model with one of my lenses with the same results. I have viewed this issue on several Macs and displays. I have done controlled sample shots using a Digital Imaging Box where the camera is mounted firmly to it with a two second timer to avoid camera shake and controlled lighting with the same results. This all leads me to how Aperture is handling the CR2 file. Now I am talking about viewing only at 100% magnification. There is NO adjustments done at this point which should rule out the RAW processor engine. Like you all I have moved my entire VERY LARGE library and complete workflow to Aperture and now have serious doubts if I can use this awesome application. Has anyone else experienced this? I have tried Apple directly, other forums, other photographers, etc. with no real answer. Since this is my first post, I can not figure out how to attach screen captures so you can clearly see the difference. I can send them via PM if required. All of your help is greatly appreciated!
    Cheers,
    David

What do you mean sharp "out of the camera?"
This is a RAW file? Note JPEG files will almost always be sharper out of the camera than will RAW files. JPEG files have post-processing (color space applied, sharpening applied) out of camera when RAW files do NOT.
It is very likely you have different settings enabled in DPP and Aperture. With Aperture you can do sharpening in the RAW conversion step, or via edge sharpening... and doing a comparison on "sharpness" before you have applied this really makes no sense.
NO RAW files are sharp out of camera (well, unless they're from a MF digital back) because all DSLRs have an anti-aliasing filter in them which purposely blurs images. This is done to eliminate artifacting and to increase the effective resolution of the camera (because note that a 12 MP digital camera actually only has 6 million green, 3 million blue, and 3 million red sensors). It does not have 12 million RGB capable sensors, which requires some math, etc., in camera.

  • 60d soft focus issues

I've had my 60d 8 months and within the last month or so I've been experiencing soft focus. I've tried different lens so it's not my lens. I have it set on AF and not manual and am still having the less than crisp images being produced. Any suggestions or ideas?
    Thanks

This actually isn't bad... it needs a little TLC in Lightroom but the data is there and it doesn't look very soft (at least in this reduced size).
Here's what the EXIF data tells me (there's more but I'm just pasting the exposure info):
    Camera: Canon EOS 60D
Lens: EF-S10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Shot at 20 mm
Exposure: Auto bracket exposure, Aperture priority AE, 1/30 sec, f/22, ISO 200, Compensation: +1
I can see you're using aperture priority (good!)
I can see you set the f-stop to f/22 using a 20mm lens.  What I can't see (because the lens doesn't provide the data) is the focused distance.
I can tell you that when using this camera with that lens at 20mm and f/22, the "hyperfocal" distance is a mere 3.12 feet... meaning if you focused to 3.12' then everything from about 1.5' to infinity would be in acceptable focus.
At f/22 you're going to be getting some diffraction issues... mostly these will only be noticeable if you zoom to 100% (e.g. large prints).  But small image sizes wont reveal them.  At 20mm using f/11 the hyperfocal distance becomes 6.17' (I have an app to look this up) and everything from 3' to infinity would be in focus... but with substantially less diffraction (diffraction is based on laws of physics and lens quality has no bearing on it... the math for calculating diffraction assume "perfect" optics.)  Diffraction is related to the wave-nature of light and what happens when you put light through small openings.  Light doesn't technically focus to a single "point"... it focuses to a spot known as an "Airy disk" (named for the astronomer, George Airy, who discovered it.)  It turns out the smaller the aperture size (larger f-stops) the larger the size of this spot.  There comes a point where it's not only larger than a single pixel... it may be larger than several pixels.
ANOTHER issue I notice is that your shutter speed is 1/30th second in this shot.  If you're on a tripod that's probably not a big deal.  But if you are hand-holding the camera... it's tough (though not impossible) to hold the camera stady enough to have no effects of camera motion causing some blur.  Even "mirror slap" vibration can be a problem if a tripod isn't solid or if you've got windy conditions blowing the camera while it's trying to take the shot.
Lightroom will let you apply some sharpening to tighten up the shot.
I messed with this just briefly using Nik Vivezza... brought down the exposure a bit, reduced exposure on the clouds and boosted contrast in clouds to create more contrast.  Reduced exposure on the highlighted area of the hills.  Also applied overall sharpening.  The whole thing actually improves considerably and this is with the reduced resolution JPEG.  You could work wonders on this with the RAW image (btw, if you're shooting landscapes.... always shoot in RAW and let Lightroom deal with the RAW to JPEG conversion.  You'll get MUCH more data and far more adjustment latitude that way.
If you want to have fun with this, post the full size version (preferably RAW if you have it as a RAW) somewhere then (a) provide a link and (b) invite people to try their hand at processing it for you and I think you'll be quite suprised at how good some of the results will be.

  • Where can I find old license keys?

The Adobe website has changed and looks to be focused on CC. In the office we have someone still using CS2 which is fine for his needs. But on his new computer Photoshop keeps asking for the CS2 key. I tried to look it up on Adobe's website, but can't fin the section with license keys after login in anymore. Does anyone know where I can find this?

  • How do I format links? And where can I find easy help info?

How do I override the blue color added when I add a hyperlink? (I found the modify page properties/links drop-down to remove the underline, but I can't figure out how to default to the original text color and only show link during rollover, or add my own formatting (e.g. strong) to show the link.
Also - can anyone tell me where to find the most comprehensive help section for Dreamweaver CS5, where I can find answers to questions like this link question? I've tried search, reference, help features within Dreamweaver, tutorials/faqs/forums on the adobe.com site (and I've been using Lynda.com tutorials which are great). But I can't find basic answers to items like reformatting links. Help!!! Thanks

How to style your links is not so much a Dreamweaver issue, I guess it is probably your knowledge of CSS that is running short here.
There is plenty of info on the web, just google for "styling links CSS" and you'll find lots of how-to's
Your best option to find help might be to buy a good book. I learned a lot from Dreamweaver CS5: The  Missing Manual, First Edition by David Sawyer McFarland
I found   CSS: The Missing  Manual, 2nd Edition  by the same author maybe even more useful, since it focuses solely on CSS instead of on the Dreamweaver program details. So check that out too, or  buy them both, like I did. Both are excellent books, which will surely answer your questions and learn you how to do things right from the start.

    Hej Pedro!
I get drivers from @k.lebzuch to wifi and bluetooth:
    Wifi:

So... I allready install this drivers and wifi working perfect... But I still have a problem with a bluetooth. I use FN+F8 & my mobile can't still find a notebook... Meybe I must install Nokia Pc-Suite or different soft to create connection with my mobile... I will check this idea later.
BTW: When I install drivers (from rapid) from my third post in this topic and the last one to wifi and bluetooth - I don't have any errors in "managment devices" (in polish "Menad?er urz?dze?") in system in control panel.
    Waiting 4 answers.

  • Soft Focus Filter for Wedding Footage

I have perused my filters in FCP but am not finding a nice soft focus for use in wedding videos. Am I missing the obvious or is this another software purchase?
    Thanks!

Try this - I'd be interested to get people's views on it . . .
Copy the clip to the track above (so the top clip is identical to the one below) and use the Gaussian Blur Filter (quite heavily) on the top clip. If you want, you can also lighten the top clip with one of the Colour Correctors - blow the highlights etc if you like.
Then adjust the opacity of the top clip to suit your taste . . . Cool?
Play around with it, then let me know.
The idea is, the original clip's still sharp - but you get that dreamy, hazy look because of the top clip - and it's VERY controllable.

  • Where can I Find More SlideShow Themes?

I have been searching the store and Google looking for more Aperture slideshow themes, can anyone point me in a direction where I can find more?

I now have the same questions for iMovie and iDVD. I am having fun and creating some very cool videos for my clients, but need a larger selection of themes for all the applications.
How about making some available in the new store? Giving a starter set and then offering more in the store would be a good $$ model.

  • I am unable to find white balance in Aperture?

Get my RAW images down loaded into a new project,
Where do you find white balance setting to manipulate?
Only facilities available are crop, touch.
    Am I missing something here?

That depends on what you want to do with your images.
First you should calibrate your monitor..
And if you then wan to print images with one of your printers you should select the approriate profile in the proofing menu.
check here for more about colour proofing/calibration in Aperture:

  • Where can I find the McCoy profile?

    Hi
Just completing a book and have read with interest the various (usually not too positive) remarks concerning the book printing by Apple and their third party printers. I'm going to chance my luck anyway but would like to proof it with the Average McCoy Gloss profile that some here have mentioned. Where can I find it?
One more thing. I printed out a couple of pages at home and saw that one of my pictures had a messy quarter. Reading some other threads has highlighted what looks like a bug related to the spot healing tool. Anyone else seen this? The page in Aperture looks fine but not when printed. I suppose I'll have to export to Photoshop to try to clean the photo up without Aperture's tools. Sigh.

  • Where can I find my original serial number

Where can I find my original serial number? All I have is my upgrade number. Bought the original Aperture product in an Apple Store along with my iMac. It was pre-loaded.

BAck in the day of hard media even when a program was preloaded on a computer bought from Apple the DVD's would be included and given to the customer. This was the only way to reload a program if the system failed. The serail number would have been included in the box.
If you are certain you do not have the original DVD's then the only thing you can do is to contact Apple to get a replacement serial number.  See Pro Application Replacement Serial Numbers
