Where and how to delete OS X Mavericks from app store update?

I recently tried to update from 10.8.5 to 10.9.5, then when i left it to download, but i forgot to plug it in, so my mac just shutdown. so i plug it in and i resume my download, and when it was finished it did not start installing, and i need to download the 5Gig file again. and i look at my storage space i lost 5Gig but i don't know where to delete the stuck or corrupted mavericks update file.
So my question is where do i find this file so i free some storage space? thanks

The file should be in your Applications folder.
If it is named OS X Mavericks, then it hasn't finished downloading.
If it is named Install OS X Mavericks, then it is ready to go. Just double-click to start the install. However, you may want to copy it to an external so you don't have to download it again.

  • Trying to download OS X Mavericks from App store but the download essentially stalls after downloading about 5.26 GB with a message that it is "calculating."  How can I get the complete download?

I've tried downloading OS X Mavericks from App store, but the download stalls with a message "calculating."  How can I get the download to finish?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

  • Cannot download Mavericks from App Store

    Hello to all,
I just want to download OS X Mavericks from App Store and I get a simple error message:
"We could not complete your purchase.
OS X Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer."
And the "Learn More" button points me to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5842.
I am doing this from my brand new Mac Book Pro 13'' Retina (Late 2013), running Mavericks 10.9.1.
My objective is to install Mavericks on my Mac Mini (a system bought at the beginning of 2013), whose original harddrive was replaced with an SSD. That is the reason I just want to do a fresh install on it.
    Waiting for feedback.
    Thank you.

    Hi Thomas,
I should boot a Linux distro from USB just to erase the disk, although I would expect that as an option to be provided during the setup of the Mac OS X installation process.
Anyway, meanwhile I am following this guide here: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/apple-in-the-enterprise/how-to-create-a-bootabl e-usb-to-install-os-x-mavericks/.
While writing this response, I manage to follow the whole article and the result is successful for now: right now I am in the process of installing the Mavericks. Interesting is that after booting from the USB I also got "Your computer restarted..." error, but after that the reboot started the installation process. Then I manage to erase the SSD drive using Disk Utility provided during installation.
    Well... 5 minutes left. :-)
Again, thanks a lot for the quick answers!

how do i get rid of an app store update notice?  I do not want it!  It is annoying

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
You will need to supply more info for us to determine how to offer help. What app, etc?

OS X Mavericks cant be installed to this computer." How can ı solve this problem!??

One way around tis is to borrow a Mac that can run Mavericks and then the download will work.  You can use these instructions:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1167857/how_to_make_a_bootable_mountain_lion_ins tall_drive.html
Though they are for Mt. Lion, the same steps will work.

  • HT201364 Mavericks download from App store updates fails to complete

    Hi,
Mavericks download from App store fails to complete.  Error message explains system needs firmare update version 1.1.  A check on my updated software list says this update done.  Re-running it confirms firmware update installation succesful.  But Mavericks still says unable to complete download.  All guidance would be much appreciated.  thank you,
    Liz

    Hi Liz ..
You're sure your Mac can upgrade to Mavericks?  > OS X Mavericks: System Requirements
Which OS X is currently installed?
Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
    The version is noted there.

  • HT201364 Trying to download OS X Maverick from App store, but it just says 'downloading' and does nothing.

I am trying to download Maverick from the app store, and it's not working. At first it said 'downloading' for the longest time (hours), then I closed the app store and rebooted, and now even if I click on 'download' it does not work. Any ideas?

    peterfromessex,
the downloaded Mavericks installer will be put into your Applications folder. Have you checked there, to see if it actually did download OK?
(If you leave the Mavericks installer in your Applications folder, then it will be deleted after you run it. If you wish to keep the installer after running it, move it out of the Applications folder before running it for the first time.)

  • Downloaded Mavericks from App Store and am receiving corrupt file message?

I downloaded OS X Mavericks a few times tonight, each time it starts to install and then I recieve a message telling me that it is corrupt and for me to remove and re-install again from the App Store, which I already did a few times already, why?

There is quite a rush to get new software on the day it releases.  Messages like yours happen on launch day almost every time.  You may need to give it a day or two.

  • HT204266 how do I remove a user from app store

The app store will not allow me to update my apps without updating a user that was the previous owner of the laptop. How do I remove this person from the computer etc.

If you mean an iTunes store id then Settings > Store - touch the id on the right and select sign-out from the popup. You can also do it via the bottom of the Feature tab in the App Store app. If you have any apps on the iPad that were downloaded/installed via that id then you may want to delete them - if updates for them ever appear in the App Store then you will only be able to update them via the id that was used to buy them (apps are linked to the account id, not to the device that they are on)
