Where are _correct_ directions for installing the Adobe Flash Reader plug-in

There are directions for installing Adobe Flash Player in its new Firefox incarnation as a plug-in rather than its old incarnation as a stand-alone program. Unfortunately, the directions are not for the current versions of either Firefox or Adobe Flash Player, and not only don't work, but don't even make sense. Are there _correct_ directions somewhere that will let a reasonably naive user install this plugin? Following the existing directions get conformation at ever step that the installation has succeeded, but in the case, nothing is there to run. As a result, that huge fraction of the web using Adobe Flash Player is now broken for me.
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== Firefox changed Adobe Flash Player to be used as a plug-in.

There is no stand-alone Adobe Flash; never has been that I recall. The following will install the plugin.
<u>'''Install/Update Adobe Flash Player for Firefox (aka Shockwave Flash)'''</u>: your ver. N/A; current ver. 10.1 r53 ('''important security update 2010-06-10'''; see: http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb10-14.html)

-exit Firefox (File > Exit)
-''<u>In Windows,</u>'' check to see that Firefox is completely closed (''Ctrl+Alt+Del, choose Task Manager, click Processes tab, if "firefox.exe" is on the list, right-click "firefox.exe" and choose End process, close the Task Manager window'')
-''<u>In Windows,</u>'' double-click on the Adobe Flash installer you just downloaded to install/update Adobe Flash
-when the Flash installation is complete, start Firefox, and test the Flash installation here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_15507&sliceId=1
*<u>'''NOTE: On Vista and Windows 7'''</u> you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen). See this: http://vistasupport.mvps.org/run_as_administrator.htm
*'''<u>NOTE for IE:</u>''' Firefox and most other browsers use a Plugin. IE uses an ActiveX version of Flash. To install/update the IE ActiveX Adobe Flash Player, same instructions as above, except use IE to download the ActiveX Flash installer. See: [[ActiveX]]

  • Because I have to install the Adobe Flash Player Active X or Normal?

Hello All, Fisrs, forgive my  English because I am Spanish.
I can think of something funny to me. I have installed the Adobe Flash Player 10 Active X and I have Explorer 8 ( 32 bits ) , Windows Vista home Premium and every day asking me to install the Flash Player.
Happens if install the same to Adobe Flash Player 10.3.183.5, in the same version yo have.
I see that every day, if I look at the progras I have istalled , see this Adobe Flas Player ( active X or normal ) with a blanc icon, not the typical figure of the program.
Not to do so the program gets installed forever. When yo reinstall it and the icon's own sotware.
I really apreciate it that I help them see than hapening and how I can solve. Thank you very match.
    Grettings.

    Hello and thank you
I am attaching a photo of what I have in the Flash folder you indicate, as a photo:
If it not attached the link see large:http://imageshack.us/f/840/sinflashejecutat.jpg/
And then run the Flash every day . Which I can only do so by accessing or a websit that you ask me, give OK when it asks me to activate the Active X and contiunue the process because if not, would have to install it each time since the Adobe web site.
You run the Flash Player 10 Active X , this would be the Flash folder you see in the picture below:
and also attached the lin for if you are not good:

  • Installing the adobe flash player

I have not installed the adobe flash player because it says I might have to disable my virus safety net during the download process.  I do not want to put my computer at risk for a virus at any time.  How can I access the flash player without having to disable my virus safety net?

Depending what antivirus software you use, you may not need to do that.  Some very aggressive AV may prevent Flash Player from being installed; most however do not.
Tell us more about your OS and AV, and someone will tell you what to do.

Yes, why not? But be sure to install it from the official Adobe site: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer.html

  • Ubuntu 10 (Linux) & Firefox 3.6 ~ How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in & ActiveX control

Ubuntu 10.045 (Linux) and Firefox 3.6.3  ~  How to uninstall the Adobe  Flash Player plug-in & ActiveX control
In general Adobe needs to offer Ubuntu (Linux) support.  I don't use Windows anymore and will go with whatever company provides me the Plug In's I need to function.  In this case at the current time, I can't use Adobe flash Player to view You Tube video's.  I followed the link that helps a user fix the problem:
Solve a Problem: The video won't play:
    http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=56115
I then saw that you suggested that I first needed to uninstall any older versions of the Flash Player and then install the latest version of the Flash player.  I clicked on the link find out how to uninstall it here:
How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
They didn't offer any help with Ubuntu 10.045 (Linux).  Please offer the instructions and automatic (non-terminal) uninstaller.  Also, I want an automatic installer for Ubuntu 10 (Linux) & Firefox 3.6 that is easy like like you have for Windows and like Sun's Java has for Linux.

You should go to this site to see what versions of Flash Player and Shockwave Player you have installed.
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/
The versions you are listing (10.0 r12, 10.0 r2) appear to be Shockwave Plauer versions, not Flash Player.
If you want to uninstall Flash Player, there should be an uninstaller in the install directory.  I do not know where that is on Linux.

  • I installed firefox beta on my google nexus 7 tablet i also installed the adobe flash player pluging its working but i have no sound?

no sound on adobe flash 11 plug in, video works but no sound

When doing playback on your device, have you check its volume is the correct? Remember Android has three volume controls you have to check: Multimedia, Notifications and Alarms.
If it is OK, then maybe the issue is on the site. Which site are you visiting? If you are trying to watch videos on Youtube maybe you'd better visit m.youtube.com where you can use tablet's native media player to watch the video.
In my tablet I can't event start Flash. It is installed and browsers detect it but movies just don't play. Flash for mobiles is very unstable.

  • TS1394 What can I do to install the Adobe Flash player? It seems to download, but then no save as or install options appears.

That is my question. The Adobe Flash Player does not download and give me a screen to finish the download. Any online articles, forms, etc that I want to view-my screen goes black. Is it the Plug-ins are missing? What are plug-ins. Be nice.

Once it's installed, be aware that it's not a standalone player - it's a browser plugin which installs in Macintosh HD > Library > Internet Plug-ins and is accessible to all browsers.
And you are downloading directly from Adobe aren't you? Never trust pop-ups on websites that say you need a plug-in.

    Hi,
I have been having some problems downloading this for over a year now even when I reinstall or reboot my pc or whatever, even change the security settings so I need your help. I found the support center which said:
http://http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#Download but then I dont even know how to locate the flash folder, where is that? How do I find it?
then do I have to highlight 10a before right clicking it? otherwise where do I right click exactly? when you say to run the flash player installer, do you mean to just click it? Cause I did and it came on but then even after downloading or installing the uninstaller and running it then installing again, it wont work even when I do that and then reboot my pc...Is there any possibility that it cant work on my pc? How would I know?
See...Im no tech expert so I really need your help. Please reply asap. Thanks a lotttt!!!

Hi, well I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. We'll see what the problem may be. First to answer your question,
the OS means operating system. Which if you are using Windows, then your OS is Vista. It could be XP or the newest one
which is Windows7, Win7 for short. Now if someone is using a Mac, then that would be their OS.
Now your computer and all computers can install and run Flash Player. However there are a few things that can cause a problem, so I'll list a few.
The first thing and most important is that you must be the Administrator of your computer. If this is your computer and you set up the accounts, the first account set up would be the Administrator account. You can look at that as the "Boss"
Now some people will set up accounts for other people but they are not Administrator accounts, they are called User or Limited accounts. They cannot be "Boss":-) There are some other things, but I'm stating it this way, so you can better understand.
When you Install programs, like Flash Player, you have to use the Administrator account to do so.
Don't think you are the only one having problems. We'll find out what it is and fix it.
Since using the Administrator account is the most important, I want you to go down to where the clock it. With your mouse, right click over the time that is showing. Then when the small window opens, left click on Adjust Date/Time.
Then post back and tell me what you saw.
    Thanks,
    eidnolb

If you are installing on Mac OS it might be asking for your administrator account password.

Please help i did the unistalling and reinstalling but still
    i can't install
    Thank you

Do a full removal of the Flash Player, there is a removal
tool on the Adobe web site to do this:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157
Use the tool because one of the reasons that the Flash player
doesn't work is that components of an old Flash player may have
been left behind on your system from a previous install that are
causing the current version not to work.
When you have downloaded the Removal Tool, make sure that you
close Internet Explorer and any other browser program that might be
using Flash, then run the tool and follow the instructions.
I'd restart the computer at this point just to be on the safe
side as it often helps to have your computer refreshed before
    trying to reinstall Flash.
Once you have restarted your computer, go to the Adobe web
site and then click on the "Get Flash Player" link:
    http://www.adobe.com
Follow the on screen instructions and Flash player should
then install for you and begin to work.

  • Can't install the Adobe Flash update

I now know that I need to install the 11.3.300.262 version of Adobe Flash, but no matter what I do, it only seems to install the 11.3.300.257 update...even when it says it's the former one.
Should I try uninstalling Flash player, and then reinstalling?
    Thanks.

Additionally, you can try to determine the actual version by right-clicking on a Flash video > '''About'''. You can also check Windows Control Panel > Flash Player > Advanced.
