Where are customized element lists stored ?

Hi all,
After removing lots of useless DITA elements from my Elements list via the Customized List option, I find that the list is only used for the document in which I have edited it, and is not kept when I close and reopen the DITA file.
In the FM10 help file I read that the customized list applies to a document - or possibly to a set of documents in a book that were selected when opening the Customized List option. In DITA topics, there is no use for an FM book file, so this documented option is pretty useless for those types of structured files.
Does anyone know where the customized elements list is stored ? Can it be copied and pasted into other documents ? Is there an easy method to make it valid for all (new and existing) documents of the same DITA type ?
Thanks
Jang

Hi Scott,
I understand what you're saying. However, I do not want to change anything to the underlying DTDs, EDDs or read-write rules. I just want to hide a number of elements in FrameMaker without changing anything else. This effectively implements one aspect of constraints (the other aspects, namely making optional elements mandatory or defining an order where this is not given by the original DTDs, are not possible without using the method you indicate.
At first I was happy with the simple notion of editing the visibility of elements in the editor. This is a feature that several XML editors have also implemented. But in FM, any change to the elements catalog is lost as soon as the file is closed, and that makes this feature really useless. Noboby is going to go through the same stupid process of selecting all those wanted elements or deselecting the unwanted ones every time a file is opened again.
Michael pointed me in the right direction to solve this problem the easy way: after defining the custom elements catalog in a DITA file and removing all elements from it, I saved the file as an FM file, renamed it to topic.template.fm and placed it in the DITA templates folder (effectively overwriting the old file - but of course I renamed the old one first). Now, whenever I open a topic type file, the custom elements catalog is read from the template. This is done for all DITA files of the topic type, not just the newly created ones.
This is exactly what I would expect as FM's default behavior, so I am happy that it works. Takes some of the geek stuff out of DITA in FM.
Ciao

  • Where are the page lists stored?

Ok I did search, but frankly I think the search on this site is horrible. If its already been answered 50 times, yell at me.
I want to build a tree menu on my homepage that is a navigation throughout the site. Sort of like the example from OTN http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/06-may/o36apex.html. But I want to make it much less complex.
My intention is to build a really simple form where the Admin select a page number, parent page number, and chooses a title. Behind the scenes the URL gets built using the page number. So when you query from my navigation table, everything will fall in line.
So my question is this - I know the page numbers are stored somewhere because Apex has LOV's up the wazoo with this functionality already. Can someone either give me the query used, or provide me with a table where I can find this? I tried to login to Vikas's workspace today, but it seems all but 2 of his applications are gone now, so I can't look at the Apex Builder Application =(
    Thanks!
EDIT - I realize you are all going to say this is just re-building the functionality of a List - and it is to some degree. I just want to challenge myself to build it in my own app for my own knowledge.

Welp after much digging I found it - WWV_FLOW_STEPS but since its not granted to users on the Oracle site, I will skip this idea. I may try it on my own box to see how it will come out.

  • Where are custom icon's stored in Mountain Lion?

If I were to copy an image to my clipboard, and paste it over the icon in "get info", where is that image held? It doesn't seem to change the file in any way, it still gives the same CRC hash unless the metadata of the file doesn't matter in such an event. I checked all other hidden files in the same folder and non of them seem to be modified. The file in question is an .mkv type.
    Thanks.

I'm not sure on higher OSXes, but in 10.5.8, I duplicated a file, changed the icon on the copy in Get Info, the copy now has a Rsrc fork added, which contaims the new icon, even though in reality it was the same icon as before...

    The original is unchanged.
BTW, same Rsrc fork addition happens if you Get Info & choose just one file to open with other than the default app but don't click change All, which chages the Launch DB.
So I assume the MD5 only checks the Data Fork.

  • Where are my wish list stored in i tunes app store ?

Hi folks i get my first ever smart phone in the morning  i phone 4 and i have been adding apps to the wish list but i cant seem to find it when i want to check what i have added .

They should be in the Videos app. Have you tried searching for them by name on the iPad's spotlight search screen ? Swipe your first homescreen to the right, type in the name of one of them, and if it finds it tap on it (if you want to start watching it) to see if it plays.
If that doesn't find it then have you tried closing the Videos app completely and seeing if they show when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Videos 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Where are Answers and Dashboards stored?

If we deliver answers and dashboards to customers and they customize it further, how can they upgrade to next release's dashboard and answers?
I want to know where are dashboards and answers stored so that we can provide an upgrade script.

    Hi User,
If a user creates queries and dashboards they are stored in the Catalog, this is in the OracleBIData>Web>Catalog folder. If you drill down into thsi folder you eventually come to the individual xml files.
The repository, (.rpd) is in the OraceBI>Server>Repository folder, the two can be maintained independantly. If your customer wants new data sources or tables adding to their RPD, you can merge these changes using the Admin tool, any changes here will not affect existing content in the dashboards, as long as the existing presentation layer is not altered. Assuming they do not maintain the rpd themselves, they could just send you an existing one for you to edit then replace theirs?
What it sounds liek you are saying though, is that they will have added queries and dashboards to the web catalog, and that you will then add more queries and dashboard pages to a development catalog, in this case it's very easy to copy and paste new files from one catalog to the other using the catalog manager. Ther is no need to touch the actual xml. NEVER copy a new catalog over an existing catalog, if you are replacing the whole catalog, back it up then delete it from the Catalog folder and paste in the new one.
If you are upgrading the version of OBIEE, none of these items should be affected, make sure you back-up first.
I hope this clears it up.
    Regards
    Ed

  • Where are all my photos stored?

where are all my photoes stored?
and music btw. I am cleaning my drive and need to back up

Assuming the default setting, your photos are stored in the iPhoto Library, in your Pictures folder.
Same assumption with iTunes: The Music folder.

  • Where are all the settings stored?

When working with Data Modeler users can setup a couple of preferences.
E.g. windows size and position on desktop but others as well.
Where are all these settings stored?
Is it a file or in Win Registry?
How can I backup these (current) settings?
In addition I want to copy them onto another Data Modeler installation on another computer and use them over there as well.
Do 32bit and 64bit version access the same settings values?
    Thank you

    Hi,
In Tools -> Preferences->Data Modeler there are import/export buttons.
Use export to create file and import it on another computer.
