Where are Home, End, Page Up, Page Down on MBP keyboard?

I just bought a MBP-15 after spending my entire computer life with Windows.  I have a fairly sophisticated spreadsheet that I created in Excel that I now want to use in Numbers.  But I'm hung up on the simplest thing - Home & End.  I've read other postings and guides related to the keyboard, but everyone else seems to indicate that there are already Home & End keys (and Page Up/Page Down keys) on the keyboard.  I have none - at least none that I can find.  I just have the standard MBP keyboard, including the F1-F12 function keys (plus fn, option, control, command, & arrows).  All of the key remapping posts talk about their use in text like a Safari e-mail.  For spreadsheets, Windows lets me take a formula in 1 cell, ctrl-c to copy it, then shift-end-down and ctrl-v to paste that new formula to the end of the existing column.  How is this done in the Mac world?  Very frustrating so far.  If it matters, I'm using Numbers '09 with Lion.  Any and all help appreciated.

Home: fn-left arrow
End: fn-right arrow
Page Up: fn-up arrow
Page down: fn-down arrow
Actions in Numbers may not match those in Excel.
"For spreadsheets, Windows lets me take a formula in 1 cell, ctrl-c to copy it, then shift-end-down and ctrl-v to paste that new formula to the end of the existing column."
(Enter and confirm the formula in the initial cell if it's not already there.)
Select the initial cell.
Scroll to the bottom row using the thumb on the vertical scroll bar.
Shift-click on the bottom cell to select it and all cells between it and the initial cell.
Go Insert > Fill> Fill Down.
OR
Select the initial cell (containing the formula)
Copy (command-C)
Scroll to the last cell as above.
Shift-click on the last cell.
Paste (command-V)
Numbers design model favors documents containing several small single purpose tables, not large ones. The maximum size of an individual table is 255 columns by 65355 rows. In practical terms, then limits are much smaller in terms of deteriorating performance speed.

How to Use Home+End Key on new short usb apple keyboard on XP
now i use macbook and new short apple keyboard.
    it hasn't Home and End key. i try to use Fn + -> , Fn + <-
it cann't do that. How can i set the Fn + <- be Home key
and Fn + -> be End key like on my macbook keyboard
    thank you for answer

Easy, no need to be harsh. I might not be a Level 9  Discussions user, but I’ve been an Apple Technician for more than a decade now. So believe me, I know what I’m talking about. Be it OS X Server or emptying the Trash. But even I come here from time to time to learn from others. Well, back to topic and being a little more specific:
The 'My Info' setting always belongs to the first iCloud account you add to an iOS device. In this account you create at least 1 contact, the one you will be using for 'My Info'. You then do the same on your other iOS device using NOT the same iCloud account, of course. You only need to enable contacts syncing in iCloud preferences for these primary accounts. From here on you can use differing 'My Info' on your 2 iOS devices without a problem.
But you may know that you can use more than one iCloud account at a time. Only the primary one will offer all iCloud options like Photostream. But what they all offer is contacts, calendars, etc. So if you intend (and I did) to share these 2 between your devices you can add them using a second iCloud account to both of your iOS devices. This makes it 3 accounts all in all. You could even go further and add another one just for 'Find my iPhone' if you like.
I would’ve used the built-in sharing of Calendar.app instead, but Contacts.app does not (yet) offer sharing contacts with others. That’s why I went with the third iCloud account as a secondary account to both iOS devices.
Apple of course recommends using just one Apple ID for everything to make it easier. But in some scenarios this just won’t cut it, which is even described in one of their support documents.
I hope that now you have an idea what I’ve done…
    Good night
    Björn
PS: It would be nice if people did not insist on being right. They too can sometimes learn something!

  • Where are the alignment guides in Pages 5?

In the old version of Pages I could drag down or across from the ruler and would have an alignment guide. Where is that in Pages 5?

It looks like Apple took every feature that could not be supported in Safari out of Pages for mac.
    I recommend switching to http://www.adobe.com/products/incopy.html
It turns out "free" means "worthless" to Apple.

  • Where are the symbole used in Pages? What a downward arrow in a rectangle mean?

I found a new symbol located on a Pages document. It was a downward arrow within a box in the upper right-hand corner. It appeared where you show all of your documents. Next, there's no table showing this symbol anywhere's, particularly in the help website or blog at Apple.com. I've recently started using iCloud. There's no one designated to enter my iCloud or use my information, except for myself. Also, the Help in Pages does not show what this symbol means. Could someone tell my where to find these Pages symbols? I'm using iOS 8.1. Thank you.

No idea what you are referring to. Can you post a screen shot?

  • [SOLVED] Where are all of the Man pages?

On my system, man-pages do not exist for many things e.g.  bash commands like ls, rm, cp & cd are missing?
    The directory /usr/man/ has the following folders: man1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8
It would seem that at least numbers 2 & 6 are missing.
I have reinstalled the man utility (though it already worked) & man-pages, though it doesn't give me access to the bash commands that I know man pages exist for.
    Any ideas?

/etc/profile is read by the login shells only. So you could have got the desired effect w/o a reboot by doing either:
    su -
    OR...
konsole --ls #starting it as a login shell
What I needed to know was not just the line to add & where, which first answer told me, but also the line to delete, which second useful answer told me. I had logged out after adding the line, & decided after the removing the offending line that I will reboot for good measure!
Thanks for your confirmation that a logout would have done the job.

  • Struts where are values stored between jsp pages?

Hi.I realize that this is forum is not specifically for struts but I thought someone might know the answer to my question.
I have run the following code. The code contains two JSP’s that both get there values from the same ArrayList generated by the same actionform so contain the same data. Example.jsp is diplayed when the application is first run when submit is clicked newjsp.jsp is displayed.
If a value in the fields of example.jsp is changed and submit is clicked the altered value is also displayed in newjsp.jsp. I am confused by this as after submit is clicked ExampleForm.java method reset is called which returns the variable values to their original value but the newly entered value is still displayed. Please tell me how this works

    Thanks for responding.
I set the debugger as you suggested and found that method reset is being called.
I did not write the whole of this program I was just playing around with and expanding a struts example I found on line.
    http://www.laliluna.de/articles/struts-nested-iteration-tutorial.html
    It contains the reset method.
I am interested to know how to reset the values. So am clearing the data after it has been submitted, just to reset. I assumed that once the new page was arrived at the values would be taken from the array.
I am quite new to struts and am not familiar with example_input.action and example.action I will look into these.

  • Where are the accessibility options for the "Down-Level" items

I have an animation I've created (that I haven't cleared with my client yet, so I, unfortunately, cannot share a link).  However, the client is government and there is a strict requirement for 508 compliance or "Accessibility."  I have been able to get alt tags throughout the main animation with no problems and tabindexing too.  The agency is still using IE8 with Chrome as their solution to newer HTML5 content.  Because of this we have experienced that most will look at the product in IE8 first.  This brings me to requiring a "Down-Level" page.  On this page I have placed an image with a description to upgrade, but the image MUST have an alt tag.  How can I accomplish this?  There is no Accessibility area in Down-level and in making varying entries to the "index_preloader.js" file I have been unsuccessful (I've tried title: '...', and alt: '...' and ['...'] and many other combinations.  Please help!
I wish I could share the link.  I am willing to run a web based remote session using Join.me or similar, if you'd like to take a look.
Any help or suggestion(s) is/are VERY MUCH appreciated!  Thank you.

    Hi Sheila,
Yes, the Distiller joboptions. We are using Distiller 9, 8, and 7 that comes with the Adobe Acrobat software. We are all on Windows XP and 7. I'm not very familiar with the joboptions, so I'm not an expert on how all of this works.
One writer said she is using the PDFX4 2007 job option, which appears to be the default with Framemaker 9. I think these files are hidden and only the customized options can be saved.

    Hi Rakesh,
This is the code for ur problem check it once.We have to use this code according to ur requirement ok..The compulsory condition is data is present in the internal table not in database table. If it is in database table move it to internal table first. And follow the below logic that will work fine 4 ur problem check it once.
    *Local Variables
      DATA: lv_temp  LIKE sy-tabix.
    CASE sy-ucomm.
*Fetch the FIRST Line from the Internal Table.
        WHEN 'FIRS'.
READ TABLE gt_data INTO wa INDEX 1.
          lv_temp = sy-tabix.
*Fetch the NEXT Line from the Internal Table.
        WHEN 'NEXT'.
          lv_temp = lv_temp + 1.
READ TABLE gt_data INTO wa INDEX lv_temp.
*Fetch the PREVIOUS Line from the Internal Table.
        WHEN 'PREV'.
          lv_temp = lv_temp - 1.
READ TABLE gt_data INTO wa INDEX lv_temp.
*Fetch the LAST Line from the Internal Table.
        WHEN 'LAST'.
READ TABLE gt_data INTO wa INDEX sy-tfill.
          lv_temp = sy-tfill.

  • How to bring up "Favorites" contact list (& where are "Home" preferences)?

I see this in some on-line pages about how to use the iPhone:
"your list of favorite contacts is only a double-pressed home button away"
but on my iPod (4G Verizon), double-pressing the home button gives me a gray upper screen and shows me the currently-running apps in a row on the bottom. How do I get to the favorites list? I'd like to have a speed dial list accessible from the main screen as quickly as possible. Also, I saw this:
"As of iPhone OS 3.0, the home button can also be set as a shortcut to open the camera or search applications on the phone. As with the other settings, in the Home option of General settings, you'll find check boxes to set either the camera or search apps as shortcuts."
When I go to Settings and then General, I see: Auto lock, passcode lock, restrictions, date and time, keyboard, international, accessibility, and reset. Nothing about the Home option. What am I missing?
    thanks in advance!
    Mike

The Home Button functions changed in iOS 4 to support multi-tasking, and you can't any longer assign functions to the double-click.
To get to Favourites (or even Favorites ) yI always have the Phone icon as one of my fixed bottom 4 icons, and I click it once to open the phonebook and then hit the Favorites button. 2 clicks instead of one, but...

  • Where are Home Videos on Apple TV?

iTunes has in Movies a separate category of Home Videos.
But when I try to view Movies through Apple TV that category does not appear so I have had to put all the home movies in the same section as commercial movies dowmloaded from the iTunes store.  It is not a major problem but it would be good to separate out the home movies in Apple TV.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you

In iTunes.  Select "Movies" from menu on the left.  Options along the middle are:
Unwatched     Movies    Genres  Home Videos   List
In Apple TV one can select between seeing only Unwatched or all Movies.
I cannot idenify a category of Home Videos.

The lessons are stored in the Library:

To open the folder quickly, use the Finder's "Go" menu:
    Go > Go to Folder
    and enter
         /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Learn to Play/

If think you might want the lessons later, keep a backup. The lessons are not always available from the Store. Quite a few posters here had problems to download them again.

  • Where is the page up key on the bluetooth keyboard

I'm an ex-windows guy and I'm having issues with shortcut keys in Pages & Numbers. I have downloaded whatever documents that I found.
    Ex:
    Go to previous sheet
    Command–Page Up
Where is the page up key?
    Scroll to beginning of sheet
    Home
    Scroll to end of sheet
    End
Where are the home & end keys?

Page up, on a keyboard without the Page Up key is fn-up arrow; Page down is fn-down arrow.
Add command to the combination for 'up one sheet' or 'down one sheet.'
    Home: fn-left arrow
    End: fn-right arrow
These will scroll to the top and botom respectively of the active sheet. Note that the focus (selected cell) does not change.
